File Transfer Problem

Ed Woodruff

Question

I transferred a file from one computer to another via a file transfer program (WeTransfer). Included in the file are six audio tracks, including a drum track. The transfer was successful, as I can open the project up in my other computer, but I have a baffling issue. When I solo the drum track it plays perfect, but when I play all tracks at once, the drum track is corrupted. I sounds like two versions of the track are installed, but out of sync. The track starts, but then the track starts again on the "and" of the first beat, and both tracks play together. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Compare the size of the files on both computers.

Cakewalk can store multiple waveforms in a single file (the .wav file format supports this), but some file transfer programs try to get clever and try to re-interpret the file.  This was a common issue with Cakewalk bundle files.

If the file sizes are different, try zipping up the files into a single zip file and transfer that.

Thanks for your help! After I posted the question, I went back into the file, and discovered somehow I had duplicated all the tracks. I deleted it and re-uploaded it, and it worked out fine! I do have one other mystery; maybe you can help me on this. On my main computer, when I open Cakewalk and view the opening screen, the New Projects screen is blank, I have Cakewalk on two other computers, and the New Projects screen is fully populated on those screens, but not at my home computer. Any idea as to how to restore that screen? It used to be there, somehow I must have deleted it. Thanks!!!
