"Simple" clip copy from one track to another?

I am trying to figure out how to easily copy a clip from one track to another existing track and keep it in the same exact position without having to figure out where the clip starts and "place" it there either manually or whatever. Is there an easy way to do this that I am just missing? In my opinion there ought to be a way to even hold down a key and drag and drop it to the new track and it will place it in the same position instead of dropping where your cursor is. It's not like anybody is that good with a mouse you know? Please forgive my ignorance if it is something simple that I am overlooking but please also share with me how it can be done. This is with a MIDI clip but I assume it will be the same with an audio clip. Thank you.

John,

I appreciate your reply but that doesn't do it. Number one, that doesn't work for MIDI at all apparently. Number two, when you hold ctrl and drag to another track(audio clips), unless you place it exactly in the right place with your mouse, it lands it wherever your mouse pointer is instead of where it originally was in the last track. This is exactly what I don't want to happen. I need a way to tell it copy to track ?? and it moves it there keeping the same position. It is not so bad if you are using snap to grid but if you are not then man is it a pain to line up.
