Changing Mixing Latency Causes Unresponsive Condition

Ken Chatman

Question

I am using a PC with Windows 10.  Intel Core I7-10700K 3.8Ghz and 48G ram.  I am using a Scarlet 1820 interface.  If I open a project and change the Buffer Size, upon the next playback my system becomes unresponsive and I must use the task manager to exit Cakewalk.  I thought upgrading my computer and interface would ease my problems, but this has been a trying experience since I upgraded.  I also get pops and clicks at 1024 samples which seems to be a common issue with this interface.  Any suggestions to eliminate the unresponsive condition would be helpful.  After I close and reopen the project, It starts and stops without and problems.

One thing you might want to try is this.  On a none firefox browser (EG Edge or Chrome) , head over to beta.focusrite.com and download the BETA drivers for the Scarlet 1820 interface.

The release notes therein specifically mention Cakewalk by Bandlab.
