About Me

  1. I'm trying to export my audio as a file and listen to it back in Microsoft Groove Music ( I'm trying to export it as a final consumer format not for mastering or anything ). And I expected that it will be the simplest part of the whole music creation process, you know just select 16 bit depth that every player supports, Stereo, 44100 Sample Rate, Master Bus as the audio source, every option in mix enables except from audible bounce, live input, and 64-bit Engine ( btw I tried with those enabled separetly and it still did not work ), no Dithering ( but I tried with triangular just in case ), And I tried Wave, wav, flac, mp3 and some other that I don't remember. And guess what, It did not work PS: there is nothing wrong with my "Groove Music" because it works no problem with music I download online. And second thing is that files exported from Cakewalk can be imported back inside the DAW and sound completly normal when played back there ( Yes even with all those crazy options I put above ) ( And no I'm not putting the same file in over and over because when I play it back in "Groove Music" the errors sound different depending on options I use. ) And I also tried ( from desperation ) every bit depth combination ( and what even is this "extra encoding options / sub format" this makes no sense! why have to audio formats in one file! ) But anyway I tried it all, and I still can't make the export sound the same as when i'm playing it back in the DAW itself. I'm surely doing something wrong here. Please help, I beg you, I can't work it out by myself. And if you want to make it painless, just give me options that work as consumer formats that I can play in a standard player like "Groove Music". But if you have time please also explain what is this "sub format" in "extra encoding options" (that btw disapears when I enable dithering). Thanks in advance for help I'm kinda new to this thing.
  2. Hi, Long time Sonar user. Thanks very much for taking the torch and carrying this great platform forward. Since installing and using Cakewalk by Bandlab, when ever I export a project, the resulting 44.1 or 48k wav or mp3 files are clipping and distorted on louder parts or even all the way through a song if the content is pretty loud. Everything sounds and looks fine while mixing and monitoring, no peaking or even near peaking levels. I've never had this problem with Sonar producer or platinum versions. I try using export profiles that I've saved and used over and over, or default profiles but that doesn't help. "What You Hear" profile has the same issues. If I choose to export busses, it will export each bus into separate files. If I mute the FX bus, and export just the master, the level is lower (noticeably lower than it should be) and there is no clipping but there is no reverb fx either. If I choose just the master it's fine, (lower but no clipping, and of not F/X reverb on the vocals....) I have my FX bus sending its output to my master so I should be able to export just the master buss and have a good mix with reverb, Right? I've read online that deleting the aud.ini file so cakewalk will rebuild it will fix this sort of problem but that had no effect either. Did Cakewalk change the way things are exported when they took over Sonar? I have to get a mix out for a music video this weekend on Saturday! Please help! Bruce Searl
  3. Bear with me here; this is an interesting one. So this morning I'm mixing this project that I've been working on for weeks. No issues, made no major changes (just parameters on plugins, volume, etc. No new plugins, no deletion of old plugins, no new recording, no alteration of existing clips). It's playing just fine. I then go to export the project, as I've done a hundred times before. The export is screwed...it's ten seconds of mangled feedback and noise, and then silence for the rest of the project (roughly 15 minutes or so). I try exporting again, same issue. I then try simply playing my project...and suddenly, I have no audio whatsoever. The meters are moving, but there is no sound. I closed and reopen Cakewalk;, no dice. I restart my computer; no dice. I check that my interface is working with other programs; it is. So then I figure it's gotta be a plugin issue. Sure enough, I bypass all FX bins on the tracks themselves, and bypass my master bus chain. Suddenly, I have audio (albeit unprocessed of course). Leaving the FX bins on the tracks bypassed, I enable my master bus FX bin and have zero audio again. Cool; so now we know it's a plugin that's on my master bus (makes it easier to isolate, because I only have a handful of plugins on my master). Find that, and disable it there and anywhere in the tracks I also have it, and we'll go from there, right? So I disable the plugins one-by-one until suddenly, my audio comes back. Seems JST Clip is the culprit. Kind of annoying, but something I can do without if need be. Except that I disable it again to test, and my audio is still playing and now being processed by that plugin, as if nothing's wrong. So I start reenabling plugins in reverse...one, two, three, everything's good until the random 4th one (happens to be LP EQ the first time). But if I start at the beginning of the process, it'll pick a different plugin to have a problem with each time. You can see where this is going. I cannot isolate a specific problem plugin. Frustrated, I uninstalled my entire FX chain and reinstalled. Viola, it works! Go to export....and the entire situation repeats. Also, now every time I reopen the project, there's insane feedback for about 10 seconds, and then it's gone (and then of course I have no audio). Out of curiosity, I've gone through other elimination processes...there's no commonalities. It's not a "Slate" thing, it's not a "JST" thing, it's not a "Voxengo", it's not a "Sonitus" thing, etc... and it doesn't appear to be any of my synths (Addictive Drums 2, TruePianos and SI Strings). Cakewalk is fully updated, as is W10 and my interface drivers. And again, this problem quite suddenly appeared out of the blue today. Anyone have any ideas? I am literally at a standstill right now and quite frustrated. I guess just for additional info, my Master Bus FX Chain is currently: LP EQ>Slate Virtual Mix Rack (FG Bomber and CS Lift)>Slate Virtual Tape Machines>Slate Virtual Buss Compressor FG-Grey [x2]>JST Clip>Boost11>Voxengo Span. But again, none of these appear to consistently be "THE" problem, as it seems to vary. Also, obviously I have other plugins on various tracks...but there's definitely a problem with something on my master chain specifically, so I'm trying to start there. Unless there's a bigger, overall problem with Cakewalk itself.
  4. I am having trouble exporting this song's buses into Bandlab because of the 6 minute limit; this song is 7 minutes long, having a limit of 15 mins would be nice for people like myself who likes to make long songs. Moreover, the 12-track limit is pretty restricting, please increase it to something like 16. Thank you for listening.
