  1. Celestion 12" speakers.

I bought a second Vox AC30 (a CC2 this time). It has original Vox speakers (made by Wharfdale) and it was suggested I put Celestion Blue's in it. $320 each. That's more than I paid for the amp. I've yet to crank it up and compare it to my AC30C2 that came with Celestion Greenback's ($149 each).

On top of that the Blue's are 15W speakers and the Green's are 25W speakers. For a 30W amp it seems like the Blue's may not be up to the amps output. Am I missing something?

  2. A vast majority of mixing tutorials use ProTools.

Although recent tuts I've seen by Kristian Kohle where he uses Cubase.

And then there's Glen Fricker and Adam Steele who are Reaper devotees.

I've seen lots of videos for specific hints using Studio One but I've yet to see a full mixing tut using it.

He does as he mentioned the temptation of the upgrade price recenlty to get the ALL bundle.

Yes, he does. See post above this one.

Is that considered big or small or medium?

Well, I'd say in length it would beyond medium but surely not excessively long.

In thinking it over big may also include girth too.

Outside Knuckle to knuckle: I'm 3.5" wide.

Comfortable touching fingers (at tip segment of little finger to index finger) I'm 3" wide.

I would characterize my fingers as leaning towards slender, not "sawsedges".

For me, measuring from that first crease on the wrist right below the palm to the tip of my middle finger is almost dead on 8" (maybe a 1/32nd of an inch short of that).

I should have stated it that way., because that's what I did. 😞

    Now I have .25 envy.

    Hey bass players,

Are the necks on 4 string basses narrower than on a 6 string guitar?

    Some yes. some no.

The problem with guys like Chris and I (I'm 7.75" from wrist to to tip of middle finger) is we have too much hand for six strings. Whereas the spread on a Ric or P-Bass gives us breathing room.

My Gibson EB-3, Danelectro Longhorn, Hofner 'Beatle Bass' and Warwick Thumb basses all have narrower necks than a P-Bass but the spread on the strings is still wider than a 6 string.

@Bapu Ok, I just finished a call with my bandmate and he has a working DAT. He does not want to sell it but would be glad to lend it to me to do the transfers. His machine is a Sony DTC-A6. I would plug it through my Scarlett 2i4 through the audio inputs. I don't know if there is any easy way to capture the RAW digital output from the coax or optical outputs into a wav to save the DA and AD conversions. If you know how to do this let me know.

Of course you must be willing to risk sending the tapes over and accept the risk that I can't recuperate what is on them for some reason like the tapes have gone bad over the years, etc. Anyhow, I'd be willing to give it try, no prob. If you decide to send the tapes over, I will have him do a quick check first that his machine is still functioning correctly before you send anything.

And I'll try not to hit that 'Erase' button I see there in the picture! 😆

I don't need the raw data, just 16/44.1 or 24/48 wav files (one continuous WAV file per tape, I can break down the songs from there).

In fact it's great that he does not want to sell it, as after I get these copied I'd have no use for the device anyway.

PM me when you have tested it and think its in working order.

And yes, I'll take all of the risks and would not hold you or your friend responsible for the condition of the tapes going in or coming out of the process.

Yip I have .. its a sony portable DAT and I just did exactly that recently. DATs I had from 90s. Only way of getting them off the Dat player is via a stereo mini jack into the Audio I/F ... works fine though.

I also have orig I/O box for it but its outputs are coax and good old optical

Only prob for you maybe .. Im in Ireland ( south coast Cork ) :D

I can ship you the tapes and pay you for your time to transfer the entire 4 tapes to 16/44.1 to single WAV per tape (I can break up the songs afterwards).
