  1. Yup, depends on the goal. To me, a 606 and a 303 is hours of freaky acidhouse fun.
  2. You know it's bad when even Larry is getting salty about his own deals 😝
  3. The TD-3 (or the original 303 for that matter because they sadly modeled the sequencer quite close to the original) is clunky to program. So to make it easier, a MIDI keyboard or sequencer is sometimes prefered. Fun fact: the clunkyness of the programming had a heavy influcence on acid as a music style and thus music in general. People started inputting random sequences with accents and glides and pitch etc. which gave rise to some of the most famous acid lines. There are several Max4life devices (for us Ableton users) which outputs random acid lines (free: https://maxforlive.com/library/device/8357/sting-by-iftah-a-really-nice-acid-line-generator). The randomness is basically an emulation of what people did.
  4. I'm not sure this will do anything that StandardClip or KClip cannot do or do better.
  5. And even slightly ontopic because they also have "Pulsar" in their name. But these guys seem to have some hype about them yes, justified or not. The P42 is often regarded as the best saturator on the market. But at $264 I'm not finding out. I could do the trial thingie though.
  6. Hmmm, I wonder how this stacks up against the Prophet 6.
  7. "ARP be back" Excuse the terrible pun, but I couldn't help myself. It's a little bit back to the roots, because my first real experience with the Matriarch was with building beautiful arps. And it didn't disappoint. I consider myself very lucky to do this as a hobby. Hearing those sounds always puts a smile on my face. Hope you have fun as well! #livejam #bigroom #moogmatriarch #moogsub37 #subsequent37 #Edge #behringeredge #arp2600 #behringer #korg #korgms20 #novation #novationpeak #launchcontrol #ableton #livemusic #homerecording #melodictechno #melodichouse #housemusic #music #studio #liveperformance #behringer2600 #TD3 #acidtechno #behringertd3 #livemusic #fromhillrecords #synthesizer
  8. Oh god you are right, they had a go with their own system before going Windows Mobile. Symbian? Man this is all way too long ago when I was working in that industry.
  9. And I believe Nokia missed the boat by going Windows Mobile instead of Android. They never recovered from that. But there could also be other factors at play.
  10. I'm interested in this as well. It's a lot of plugins for which I seem to have alternatives. Is there anything that stands out in this bundle, besides the Windows 98 look?
  11. Analog you say? Here's hoping that Roland will create an ACB version of the Nokia 3310.
  12. Said the Warner executive who will take your AI generated Ed Sheeran song down because he has the copyright.
  13. I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas for titles. But the jam is cool! I look cool too 😝
  14. This is weird territory. Do I own my voice? If someone decides to replicate my voice to create a hit record (I'm Britney y'all!), do I get a slice of the pie? Do I get the whole pie if it is done without my consent?
  15. Interesting stuff. But I will be holding out for BF.
  16. Allright, besides the cheesy thumbnail which you apparantly have to do, this was actually a pretty tough one. I decided to do several things live, playing a synth (the 2600), live arranging, controlling the send levels and the usual filter adjustments. Usually I just hit record and away we go! But this was the first time I did multiple test runs to get a feel for what I had to do where and when. I was pretty happy and proud I eventuall got it all in 1 take. Enjoy!
  17. Nice! Ohmicide is actually on my wishlist.
  18. That's a colouful way to describe electronic versus acoustic 😆. Deadmau5 made this comment in regards to the concept of tuning your kicks. What followed was a minutes long rant how ridiculous the argument was. But it's a bit semantics. In an acoustic setting, the bassdrum produces kick and bass. So there is overlap and you (generally) want that deep punch from the bassdrum. In electronic music, it very much depends on the genre. Techno also has that deep bassdrum, so the kick is often a deep thud with a lot of bass. I usually do sidechaining first and then Trackspacer to clean up. When doing more popular EDM, I regard the kick as just a transient. It should hit hard and cut through everything. Because the kiddo's have to hear it on their phone speakers. Trackspacer won't solve a lot in the low end there. But still pretty useful in the mids.
  19. Thanks for figuring it out. I suspected as much. Bought it for this reason. Should be a handy tool. I use a lot of de-essing in my productions, but mostly on non vocal stuff.
  20. When you go through checkout, you can get Echo Vibe for $5 as well. The demo didn't convince me that it would add to the other 57 delays I already have. So I skipped that and I will tell myself tomorrow that lunch will basically be free.
  21. https://audioassault.mx/products/doubletake Basically a vocal doubler (up to 4 voices), drift, tightness and dry wet. Pretty basic but the YouTube demo sounds pretty impressive for such a simple tool. This will get you very quick to a very decent punt.
  22. This pushed me over the edge to get the SSL De-esser.
  23. I keep forgetting about DMG! I have Tracklimit and perhaps even Trackcomp 2 (have to check when I'm home). Those are great products.
  24. *Deadmau5 rant mode on: kicks make kicks. Bass makes bass!
  25. That relative threshold seems useful. I'm no expert on de-essers, so are there any other that do that? I got a couple, so maybe I'm already set.
