Kinda wondering how you connected all those synths. I see four Behringer ADA8200's but are the synths also MIDI'd up?  That would be way too complicated for me!

Actually I have them double MIDI'd up 😝. With the exception of the Lyra-8 which doesn't have MIDI, they are all connected with USB.

Setting the channel is quite easy, most manuals give you info on how to do that. But I also have them connected through MIDI if I ever want to go dawless. I have a couple of MIDI Thru boxes which has a 1 in/4 out connection. You can daisy chain 3 of those. That is connected to my Arturia Keystep.

Great performance Nick ! This one glued together nicely. Very effective build up and release. I honestly cant see how you keep up with all of the synths at the same time. Very impressive! I would imagine you've also got cable management down to a fine art.                     Enjoyed it ..   mark

Thanks! The secret is I don't keep up. I always forget to do something I wanted to do. Especially when I combine it with doing drums and arrangement too. In my latest jam I forgot to add some drums from the Drumbrute Impact until the last 2 minutes or so. But if I don't tell, no-one is the wiser.

Regarding the cablemanagement, imagine again haha 🤣. I just put a black piece of cloth in front of it. But I do keep them labeled.

  3. I had a nice groove going. Then I played in most parts live. Not much quantization, I just kept most 'as is'. The result is something a bit different from my usual stuff, but still cool I think. I'm also trying out to do more MIDI stuff to do live to get some more movement and change going. It's still a process.

I was sharing your videos with a friend of mine, a keyboardist and gear junkie out of the UK -- originally from Germany. I knew he would be able to identify all you gear and he was paying it compliments as we were chatting and listening to your music. I really enjoyed this one (hey, I gave your videos likes too.)

Also fun fact, I couldn't quickly figure out how to keep the joystick on 'hold' on the Malevolent. So I just dangled the patchcables on the joystick which weighted it down and kept it in place. I'm sure there is a more elegant solution, but this worked 🤣

Hey wow that is awesome! And as intended. I don't need a big venue or a large following. Just people hanging out enjoying the music. It's what I do with friends. Oh boy do I have some, not sharable, and perhaps some alcohol induced recordings.

Our blog post has the correct info.

There were no ties between Baby Audio and Denise prior to the acquisition. Also, there has never been any co-ownership between Baby Audio and SoundSpot or Plugin Boutique whatsoever.

The misunderstanding probably comes from the fact that the same freelance developer, JD, has worked for both Baby Audio, Denise, SoundSpot and many other companies in the industry during his career. He's also been a co-founder of some companies, but not of Baby Audio. Maybe someone found JD's online profile where he listed the companies he'd worked with and made the conclusion (wrongly) that he must be the mastermind behind all of them. While JD is a brilliant guy, this is not the case :)

For Baby Audio, JD is a freelance developer and one of 5-10 developers who currently work for us. It's a small industry and overlaps with freelancers is pretty common -- look at the video creators as an example. Baby Audio is an entirely independent company and there is certainly no corporate umbrella uniting us with SoundSpot or Plugin Boutique.

Hopefully this will clarify any wrong rumors. And if there's any doubt about anything, just ask -- we're always happy to explain! That's much better than having misinformation spread.

Thanks for clearing it up. That's what I get for these 'trust me bro' sources.

Is there trouble in paradise? Benn has a video on Faclon 3 set to premiere at the same time as his mate Cameron:

I don't think so. Cameron has done a lot of UVI marketing in the past and seems to be their go to guy right now. Benn is just another on that list I guess. He seems to be going at it from a different angle.

I can't speak too much to most of that, but it would be interesting to know they're all one and the same.

But on the bad rep, I stumbled across this one and thought it was funny... (Copied the relevant parts from KVR)

OP: So I've reached out to SoundSpot some time ago about Apple Silicon support but didn't receive any answer. Anyone knows if the developer continues to support its products?

Response1: No plugin is futureproof - any plugin company could go bankrupt and your licenses stop working.

    Response2: soundspot plugins aren't even present-proof

Have they made anything new recently? Could be an abandoned brand which got a bad rep and they just decided to start something new instead of trying to fix their name. Which is logical.

  9. As I read somewhere on the internets (source, trust me bro), the bad rep Soundspot gets is weird. According to this source Soundspot is under the same corporate umbrella as Baby Audio. As a matter of fact, Denise Audio, Baby Audio and Soundspot are the same developer, same DSP, same team etc. I can definitely see some resemblance between Baby and Denise. But can you say 'let's do some very bad coding and call it Soundspot'? Is that how coders works?

  10. Hey!

Great news: The biggest sale of the year is active at PML!

If you were waiting to buy a pack, course or a bundle, now is the best time of the year to buy. There won't be a better deal later, this is THE sale!

50% OFF every item in the store. We decided to keep the math simple!

    ------------------------------------

Easily my favourite sample pack makers. Check out their co-ops with Orchestral Tools for example. For electronic music / techno, this is about the best there is.

If someone's interested, I came across a YouTube channel (well, the almighty algorithm did run it across me, but how did it know I was thinking about this stuff??!!!).

He makes very bizarre videos, entertaining even and with a lot of effort where he calls out every shill in the business. Worth checking out.

He mentions some guy named Fleer. Our @Fleer?

  12. Ambitious? Perhaps. Challenging? Yes! There was a lot of mixing to be done because there was a lot going on at the same time, most of the times. I think mixing took as long as setting up the livejam and recording it. But here it is, a jam using everything I have. This will probably be the last time I do something like this. Sometimes less is more, and I will try to keep things simpler in the future. But this had to be done 😝

I need to visit the barber...

  13. I'm happy with my subscriptions to Plugin Alliance (the forever 29 one, which is kond of a hybrid? but I'm counting it), Splice and Arcade. The last one offers a LOT and has very high standards on what they offer. What I'm seeing here (I haven't watched any videos yet) is a synth with an online collection of sounds. Basically endless. If it's up to par with Arcade, it could be interesting. Especially when you haven't got a lot of other flagship synths. Still a bit expensive though.

What's more interesting is watching the fallout in synthfluencer land. It seems nobody got the heads-up this was going to be subscription and all the usual salespeople are mad. I'm seeing them flocking to X, complaining that they feel they have broken the trust of their Discord or Patreon community. Even some are calling for (extra?) compensation. I'm not sure on which side I am. Probably somewhere in the middle. My boiling blood from the Behringer thing still hasn't cooled down, but they do have a point that Minimal Audio should have disclosed this information to the zero day reviewers. It's not a small detail. On the other hand, it doesn't/shouldn't affect the technical review part. And I wonder how many would have declined the opportunity to do a zero day review IF they had known.
