Plughugger has announced the release of Cellos of Darkness for Spectrasonics Omnisphere, a cinematic and ambient collection entirely based on the sound of strange cellos found in the Omnisphere sample library. This collection of sounds is mainly based on the psycho-acoustic recordings of cellos in Omnisphere, but to bring the soundset down to earth Plughugger decided to include recordings of synthetic cellos, such as Mellotrons and old Yamaha toy keyboards. Plughugger says the character is dark, organically disturbing and scary. Muletone Audio has released Brazilian Series: Tamborim 2 for Kontakt. Here's what they say: Very common in Brazilian music, The Tamborim reveals much of the percussive wealth of Brazil. Used mainly by "samba schools" (Escolas de Samba) of Rio de Janeiro and traditional Sambas, this instrument represents much of the typical rhythm of Brazilian music. Brazilian Series: Tamborim 2 was recorded using a pair of Neumann KM184, a Royer M122 and a Neumann U87. The preamp section used was a UA 2610, API 512A and Grace M501, routed in a Symphony Apogee.
