  1. Hey Daryl -- glad to see you back and posting new songs on the forum. Excellent catchy and memorable song. Love the finger snaps!!!! Great vocals and harmonies!!

    You Know

This is indeed a difficult subject but I think your lyrics and music have done a good job in presenting it. Love the bass line and you have done a good job on the lead and background vocals. Well done!!! As far as the length --- I have been exploring South American style Afrobeat music and compared to that this is just a snippet,
  3. Wow!! Here you go again -- posting some really great sounds!! This is excellent. You certainly know your way around a guitar. A great deal of talent shows in this song!!

I haven't really listened to any Indian music since the 1960's. From what I remember you really captured the song. You have done an excellent job on putting this together and the mix sound really good (even on my less than adequate system. Sounds great and well done!!!
  5. Hi jwnicholson. I'm very glad that you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to listen and commenting. It is much appreciated!! Hey Jesse. I know that I tend to overdo it on the reverb and/or delay. I do hear it on the lead vocal and I am a bit mystified as I plugged the mic directly into my audio interface and did not use any plug-in other than the WAVES L1 + Ultramaxi. However, I think that that plug-in should influence rev/del. I do not have a studio. I have a wee room with 3 double glass door and a small window. I recently moved my microphone and perhaps I might be getting some "glass bouncing" being picked up by the mic?? Guess I'll have to move things around again. Hi Nigel. I am glad that you liked it . I appreciate the kind comments. Thanks for listening and commenting. Hi tom! I did not intend that much reverb/delay on the vocal but it is there. I don't really know why (see comment to Jesse above). I do tend to over use it, when I use it but do love the sound of it . It is nice to get feed back from someone that digs the early electric Blues and R&B as much as I do. As always your feedback is much appreciated!!!
  6. The music certainly conveys summer fun. The pictures made me feel as if I too were on holiday. Well done indeed!
  7. Aaah -- experimental "eclectacy"!!! A bass solo -- most cool!!! I listened to oogie - it too was most cool!

    Speakeasy

Well done! I can just imagine this in the establishment you described. Well maybe the strings might be hard to fit on a basement stage but they certainly add to the song.
  9. "Powerful lyrics" -- indeed. Mix and performance are all done well. I attended grammar school (grades 3-8) in Canada (London, Ontario) and we never were taught about the schools you have mentioned. I have however done some reading concerning these schools --- certainly a stain on the history of Canada. Very good and poignant piece!

    NORWAY!

Excellent presentation Bjorn!! Your talent in music is equaled by your photographic/video prowess! I am sorry to hear that you caught CoVid but pleased that you are on the mend. Repeating what is coming out from the medical community -- I can only assume that it will be with us for quite some time. The longer that it is with us and with more people not wearing masks and spreading it the more varients will evolve. Sounds like a vicious cycle?! Here is hoping that you will fully recover soon!!
  11. A very touching song with descriptive lyrics. The presentation of the lyrics (vocal) and the "no ...toys..." instrumentation very effectively communicated the lyric. Excellent work!
  12. I to prefer version 3. The mix sound good to me. The bass panned left sounded a bit strong to me but that could well be my audio interface. It has been giving me a bit of trouble recently. You have done a good job on capturing the sound and feel of the original.
  13. Just a silly song with a bit of a message -- God loves you but the Devil does not. The guitar panned L is borrowing from some Jimmy Reed style riffs; the guitar panned R is borrowing (sort of ) from Elmore James' riffs and the lead guitar (accents and break panned C) borrow from the realm of rockabilly. Hence -- Bluesabilly. I have been trying to get better instrument separation. Hopefully, I have done a wee bit better on this one. I was going for that early Blues gritty overdriven sound on the lead. I used the Amplitude Fender 1957 amp on the classic setting. I think it came close to what I was going for. Comments, crit.'s, and suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks! DON'T IT MAKE THE DEVIL SMILE https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=963481
  14. Great fanciful story and overall performance. The mix sounds good to me! Nice one! Has a wee bit of a Sargent Pepper sound to it --- Nice!
  15. Another piece of perfection in listening/viewing.
  16. Everything about this song is absoflippinlutely cool!! I must agree that the vocals deserve to be brought up a bit.
  17. Luv it! Those drums are most cool! And no I don't need any more holes in my head --- what's left of my brains might leak out1😄
  18. I agree with the comments above. This is a most pleasant piece and you mix sounds great to these old ears. I also like that "jangley" guitar -- it has a sound similar to that used on the theme song for the television show called "Due South". Jangley guitars and birds at the end --- how cool!!
  19. I am far from being a "mix master." Therefore, I won't comment on the mix but the song in total ---WOW. Musically the music is powerful, a wee bit angry and urgent. Your vocals are absoflipinlutely great. The lyrics are excellent, in your-face and demand to be listened to. The message is spot on. I'm glad that you have it on YouTube and hope you get a lot of views. I recently read that it is estimated over 400 million guns are on the streets in this country. That is more than our population. That is all wrong!
  20. Classic Jesse! Given my geriatric ears, I only wish the vocals were a wee bit louder. But I must say --- I luv it!!
  21. Nice one indeed! It has a really addictive riff throughout, a good vocal hook and some nice harmonies! Your right, Guitar Rig has more in the way of Fx but being a Fender guy I picked up one of the Amplitude Fender packs and have been "goofing" around with it. Enjoyed it!!
  22. Cool song indeed. I liked the brass matched with that bass sound. That sound at the end sounded like the I made last week when I got my most recent investment statement! Hang on for the ride!
  23. Sorry for the delay in responding. We have been enjoying a visit from our son. Hi Bjorn. I am afraid that you are right ..."it would apply to future videos..." I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment. Hey Douglas. I am very glad that you liked it. Thanks very much for the kind comments! Hello Wookiee! I guess that we can attribute that trait to some serious cognitive dissonance. Thanks very much for the listening and the comments. Hi tom. Heart wrenching indeed! I always appreciate your comments and kind encouragement!! Thank you Nigel. I have never understood the logic in the idea that we need more guns because there are too many people out there with guns. Ah well, silly me? Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to listen!
  24. Hi Hidden Symmetry. Thanks very much. Message rec'd on the bass. I appreciate the suggestion.
  25. I have been watching too much TV news. The pictures of the continuing shootings are more than extremely disturbing. This song is not political but for me was cathartic. I don't care about the politics but I align with an overwhelming majority of American citizens who simply want a solution to this problem. We are supposed to be the intelligent species not a bunch of animals wantonly killing each other. Actually in scientific nomenclature we are animals (Kingdom: Animalia) but I digress. The point I am trying to make is that we are better than this --- aren't we? Now that I have that out of my system -- I am not sure in what genre this song would fall but it is a wee bit different for me. I did it a bit rapidly, --- so, it probably needs a bit more work. For example, the vocals/harmony in the choruses probably need a little tightening-up and synch'ing. Any comments, suggestions, crit's, etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481
