Very nice Kenny, great reason to practice. I have mornings where I don’t want to play, but I do. Then I feel better, even if it’s just drums most times now.

To look at old projects occasionally and wonder how I used to write songs…

Thank you, very comprehensive, and If I was still on Cakewalk I know it was easy back in the day. What I am planning to do is, have my wife make notes of each bit of my kit as it shows up on the window in SD3 and then map what isn't covered afterwards. Appreciate the reply very much. Waiting on wife to have the free time now :).
Cheers,
Tony

I would suggest starting with the basics - if you have a customized set of kit pieces/pads. Literally write (or type) out a list of the note/control numbers your kit pieces/pads are using first. Then using the note mapping options in SD3, figure out what is and isn't properly matching. -Going from there might be easier, as there are only so many kit pieces/pads, but many, many options for the software mapping. -That would be my basic suggestion.
Thanks, I have basically tried that, the window showing all the numbers was what I used. What I haven't successfully done is got them to stick where I need them. Back to the drawing board :).
Cheers.

Hi All,
I have run into a brick wall with SD3 using the Roland TD50x midi map. The issue is it doesn’t like me having 2 extra toms 1 extra cymbal and a percussion bar. I have read how to assign by learning. It’s not worked and generally stuffs up my existing drum kit trying to include those bits. I’m 100% sure I’m the problem, just cannot my head around something clearly. Help much needed and appreciated.

@Jim Roseberry I do not argue they are different. And in fact I did own one solitary example of old school analogue, a Jupiter 6. Had to tune that baby before playing each time LOL. I think my point was, it really is about tactile responses. Which I get, just modern stuff along with a laptop and gazillion vsts have made them obsolete, just like virtual model amps. And yes, once you record, no one can tell the difference except in rare cases.

I think the funny part of this amazing display of separate pieces of hardware is that any decent workstation can do this all internally (almost). I personally want to see what Yamaha do with the new Montage replacement. I love and won't be replacing my Montage 7, and a friend of mine is suffering with his Kronos 2s ( yes 2 of them). But it sure is cool to watch someone twiddling all those knobs and levers and worrying cables about.

Still have my PT 10 perpetual, occasionally looked at upgrade specials and still not been tempted. Studio One Pro and Logic Pro X still work great for me :).

I bought a Gibson Songwriter deluxe and got an SG Gibson included from sweetwater years ago. Both were prepared beautifully and delivered with care. However, I never did really enjoy either one. My advice, go to a shop and play one!!. Oh, and I own the late 80s model Gibson Epiphone Sheraton, same as a 335, love its feel and sound.

Looks awesome! Congrats!
But where are the tangle of untidy line cords, old coffee cups, thumbtack-posted article cut-outs from Electronic Musician, snippets of old lyrics written on the back of electric bill envelopes, old cardboard packing boxes you haven't thrown away yet in case you need to send those things back . . .
. . . and your ceiling looks very reflective, would you get some foam or equivalent up there? At least at mirror points as you sit at your mixing position?
It's awesome, really, I'd play in there with great contentment. Well done!
Sadly, it's still my dining room for the future, the build studio is simply on hold for now. I have a cloud I usually sit above me, couldn't do it. The x/y mics actually handle the sound really well. And, frankly, not recorded anything in a long time. I usually practice and play live on Jamulus/Sonobus in an afternoon these days.

Honestly, I would have kept recording with my trusty Roland VS1880. I record a lot less now.

I currently have K13UCE, and own Izotope 9 advanced etc but on sub 10 pro. It's going to get VERY interesting. Will they still manage separately or merge all accounts. Watch this space!!.

After selling my Roland e-drums, thinking my neighbours here in UK were cool with my drumming at reasonable hours. I got a knock on the door this morning. "It's becoming ridiculous Tony, we hear your (acoustic) drums every day. That's true, about an hour each morning usually after 8am or close to 9am week days and about 9-10 on weekends. We treated the room an most of the sound is actually contained, but, they can hear it over their crickets and classical music, therefor it's an issue. They don't want me to stop playing, just play less loud less often. It's already only hitting about 55db across the road... I'm sick of people not wanting live music around them anymore. I get if I was playing early morning or late at night.. but sheez...

You could get them all for $196...which is less than the retail price of one...LOLI use Fairchild all the time. Stellar for parallel or single, and limiter.
