  1. If you control when it updates, you can make a backup before you install (which considering there are usually some every month, it serves as your backup schedule).  It also gives you time to check the forum, because a bad update will spur a flurry of posts here.

I have not had any issues with only the necessary updates and not the "feature" updates.

I use templates extensively and include:

    • Tracks and track settings (Volume, Pan, Gain, MSR/Archive, Pro channel, MIDI settings like negative delay, etc.)
    • Track FX
    • Routing, Buses, etc.
    • Instruments and VSTi settings (it even remembers that Kontakt instruments are purged)
    • Control bar layout
    • Articulations

    Care to share that template?

  3. I was upgrading for Amplitub4 Max to 5 Max and I thought the same thing. I had my buddy go in with me, and I ended up getting a 2nd AXE I/O and software using my Jam points, and ended up being the same $299 - so I subsidized the upgrade.

Then, I saw the Dimebag collection and bought it like a moron ...already comes with 5 Max. They refunded my money on that.

I've gone the other way, from amp sim to amp. I used to play mainly through headphones at home.

Making a mic cable with the two leds definitely helps with the amp sim.

But my amp with a rock crusher attenuator is sick.

I love miking it myself. Moving the amp around the room.

I have never come close to the tones i get with my amp using software amp modeling.

    Interesting.
