😅m no Kingo here .  Have a great trip and bring Cruize Home

Maybe not the King, but you're clearly stepping up to Prince.   We all appreciate you.

Perhaps I missed it, but is this the first time Clarity VX is also 29.99?

I don't remember for certain, but I think so.  I think the previous lowest price was $34.95

  3. I got this email from Goyo today concerning a pre-release sale.

    https://goyo.app/

    Dear Goyo Beta User,

Today, we’re excited to announce the release of Supertone Voice Clarity, our official product replacing Goyo. This upgraded plug-in retains Goyo’s simplicity and powerful algorithm, along with added features like enhanced CPU performance and offline workflow.

Supertone Voice Clarity will be available for purchase starting early October for $99. As a valued beta user, you'll get an exclusive $70 discount, making it just $29.

Following the release, we’ll transition into phasing out beta testing. Usage and support for existing users will continue until October 31st, after which we encourage you to use Supertone Voice Clarity.

  4. A Waves sale with all plugins at $29!!  Finally!  Wow!  What a novel idea!  I'm jumping in because they may not do that again until . . . tomorrow.

  5. Is anyone familiar with this?  It's brand new to me and looks fascinating.   On Friday they're adding another plugin called "Tracer" that let's users add their own "Captured signal chains, including Preamps, Equalizers, Compressors, Limiters, and more, in any combination, from a single piece of gear to complex chains" and those chains can be added to a user Tracer exchange.  It looks sort of a like a version of Tonex but focused on outboard gear rather than amps.

what the legal issues would be, if any,  if someone used an imitator of a singer/actor

it's only an issue when there is enough money for the lawyers to make a case.

    That's the truth!

This is weird territory. Do I own my voice? If someone decides to replicate my voice to create a hit record (I'm Britney y'all!), do I get a slice of the pie? Do I get the whole pie if it is done without my consent?

Good question.  I wonder what the legal issues would be, if any,  if someone used an imitator of a singer/actor and cloned that voice rather than the actual artist to make a recording.

    Thanks for weighing in.

I briefly tried the Goyo on a guide vocal with a lot of background noise and I was impressed with the job it did, but I haven't compared it to Clarity VX. When you wrote that Goyo doesn't "change the sound of the file as much as the Clarity VX," do you mean that Goyo doesn't alter the vocal part you're trying to remove background noise from as much or that the Goyo doesn't remove background noise as well?

I think you meant the former, but I just wanted to make sure. Again, I appreciate you doing the comparison.

    Glad to help.

I meant that the more I pushed the VX the more I think I heard the sound of the file itself slightly altered.  It wasn't anything radical and in full mix would probably be inaudible, but I do think I heard it.  The Goyo didn't seem to do that.

Yep, it looks extremely likely that this plugin is only free during the open beta. I'd be interested if anyone who has the similar plugin from Waves could compare it to this one.

I've got the Waves Clarity VX (the one knob one) and just downloaded  the Goyo.    So far I've only tested it on one really noisy file, but it seems to me that the Goyo doesn't change the sound of the file as much as the Clarity VX (not that the VX changes it much, but I think I can hear a bit) and the Goyo has somewhat more control in that you can remove the ambiance and the reverb separately.  Just to see what would happen I dropped them both on the same file and as a team they did a remarkable job of cleaning it up.   Depending on what the Goyo sells for I'd be tempted to use it more just because of the added flexibility.

  10. We're glad you're back safe and sound!   I would leave town too if I had a three day power outage in the summer.

I live about an hour from Memphis and it's a neat place.   Lots of great music there of all styles and the blues still gets a major nod on Beale Street.   I'm glad you had fun and got to experience some southern hospitality.

With sidechaining enabled, I take it? Tell me more about how you set it up.

Setup is an absolute breeze.  You drop it on the track you want to duck.  Open the plugin and choose the track you want to drive the ducking from a drop down list then adjust the effect knob on Trackspacer until you get the sound you want.  Piece of cake!

  12. I seem to remember that about eight or nine years ago there was a shootout on this forum between different mastering services.  As best as I recall the winner was a professional mastering engineer, but only by a nose.  I think second place went to an automatic service (maybe it was landr?).  Does anyone else remember this and might be able to provide better details or more correct information?

But you're completely right in your concern, jngnz. A small sample dev that decides to make their own plugins presents a number of legitimate concerns for sample users. I've seen too many small devs fail to manage being plugin developers well over time and too many close up and then customers are left with a sample library for a dead end plugin that could cease to work with the next OS update. It's a major reason why I primarily stay in the KONTAKT ecosystem when it comes to sample libraries.

I try to support the little guy as often as I can, but on this other hand, this is the number one reason I think twice about buying from them.    I seem to remember that someone was working on a free Kontakt alternative that any developer could access.   If that would catch on it might be one way to help the little guy gain a better share in the market.

  14. I've been cutting back on plugins in general not because of the economy, but because I have tons I don't use.  So, the economy isn't directly affecting my decision, but it would definitely be a factor  if there were more plugins I wanted to buy.

As I think about it, maybe the one person who should respond to this post is the plugin king himself, @Bapu The rest of us on this forum stand humbled before him!
