  1. I like the sound of Randy's prepared piano. :D I used to do a similar thing with my guitar.
  2. This may seem like a dumb question, but have you tried plugging the audio interface in with a different cable? Sometimes the USB cables break. Try subing it with a different cable. Also, try cleaning the USB connection pins. They can get dirty over time. My money is on the Windows update *****in up the drivers. Have you tried rolling back? Or clean installing the drivers?
  3. I remember a few years back, Cakewalk worked closely with Microsoft to achieve near zero latency with WASAPI drivers. (Great job) Am I the only one who has noticed that this appears to have changed recently? It may have been the recent Windows 10 update, but I've noticed that my USB audio device is no longer appearing greyed out in the latency bar, as it used to be, and that I have to keep adjusting the latency bar up if I don't want audio to drop out. What has happened? I'm also finding that when I switch audio devices from external USB audio device, to internal drivers, I need to rescan the device to avoid audio drop outs or problems with effects loads. I never used to have to do this. Any advice welcome.
  4. Word of warning - it's only 5,400 rpm, so if you're planning on streaming from it, I'd get something else.
  5. Sometimes I wonder if the answer is just to get a group of musicians together to record what you want to produce. If the price of a 'great' library is 2 grand, and you're going to use it only once or twice, would it be cheaper to hire some musicians and studio time for a day? I don't know, really. Just putting it out there.
  6. Thanks for the advice Feral State - I tried using some free Video Software such as HitVideo on my old laptop, but it crashed continuously and was a waste of time. Since using Vegas, I've had no problems. Thanks for the advice though.
  7. I got the bundle last time around. Great offer, especially, if like me, you don't have any decent video editing software.
  8. I've been closing some of those accounts. Around a year ago, when I hoped on some of those 'oh so tempting' deals, I started getting a ton of spam mail. I know it was from one of those sites I signed up to, because it was all for American stuff - and I don't live in the US. Basically, my email had been sold on to a third party spammer, and now I get a mountain of spam every day (except for the occasional periods when they go quiet...like over the Easter holidays ???). I've got email filters galor, but it still gets through. Now when I see these 'freebie' offers, I wonder whether it's worth the spam.
  9. This was published some time ago on the old forum, but seeing as there are a number of deals on 'traditional' instruments, I thought I'd highlight this wonderful collection. Totally free, but you will need the full Kontakt player. http://en.catsnu.com/Project/GugakVSTi.aspx I've already used them on a number of songs: including the ones below if you want to hear them in situ: https://hitrecord.org/records/3675876
  10. Thanks @daryl1968 Appreciate the nice comment. The mini album, minus sound interludes, goes live in 2 days. On the 3rd of May, which just happens to be 5/3 in American. I try to time my releases to coincide with my moniker ?
  11. Anything worth getting? Is anyone using any of them?
  12. The only reason I would get Mixcraft would be to support the 'little guy'. I don't see anything that would make me change DAW at this point, but I do appreciate their 'human' support. Their bundles might be appreciable for a starter who doesn't have a HD full of VSTs. I wish them lots of luck in this cut-throat world of DAWs.
  13. I second that. LABS is one of the few libraries I go back to again and again for soundscapes. As one poster said a while back, they do one thing....but, boy do they do it well!
  14. Water to the Sand, my 7 track mini album has been sent for release. Release date will be - in keeping with my superstition about numbers - on the 3/5 (or 5/3 for my US friends) - That's 7 tracks on the 3 of the 5....all prime numbers - not bad! For those who would like a pre-release listen, you can stream the album in its entirety on Soundcloud, complete with captured sound interludes of nature. Listen for free here: https://soundcloud.com/53mph/water-to-the-sand-entire-album And remember, your support will help me to keep making music.;) I'm finding it harder and harder to make music these days due to time constraints and family...but then, don't we all.
  15. Do you need the aas player to use this, or does it come with a scaled down player? I've got the free aas guitar player that came bundled with SPLAT.
  16. I got all the UJAM guitar products when offers came along, and, to be honest, I've used them very little. I agree with @msmcleod, I get the most use out of the single note players 'cause I can stick them through distortion and effects to make them sound 'human', but they are far from 'playable' for complex solos - I find the UJAM products great for jamming out ideas, but not so good in an actual mix....for that, I reach for my guitar and play it myself. As with all these products, when I audition them clean, I'm really impressed with the sound - stick them in a mix, and I'm less than impressed. They all just sound too atificial.
  17. I've got AD2, BFD, Various NI kits for Kontakt....I'm just not sure that I need another drum app...even at such a low price. Decision, decisions, decisions!
  18. I still use BFD v1. The samples in the first kit are higher than later versions, and the humanizer is great. It's perfect for loose and live sounding drums. It may be old, but it's good. Just in case you think I'm living the 90s, I've also got 3 other drum plugins on the go.
  19. This arrived in my inbox this morning. Anyone using it? A YouTube demo mentions that it comes with The Punch plugin built in. Westwood features a natural unprocessed drum kit with all the tools needed to shape the sound the way you like. Westwood includes a full range of mixing tools & effects on every channel. Adjust the way the microphones affect the signal, compress, transient design and shape the drums the way you need to. And it's only $9 for the next 48 hours!
  20. I'm the same. This is probably a great set of tools, but my workflow means I don't have much time...izotope gets me there quicker & I can save my own presets to get a similar feel to mixes. In fact, I'm getting more and more into building my own custom fx chains in CbB...I love that function.
  21. I should add - here in Europe, Amazon has the same pair going for €118 - which is 132 dollars
  22. Someone was asking about headphones in the coffee house just the other day.
  23. Yeah, I checked the videos - might be good for metal or heavy rock - not really my thing. I've got 3 acoustic drum VSTs which sound better, so I'll pass.
  24. https://www.audio-assault.com/druminator.php?mc_cid=8a8ce55d18&mc_eid=76ab04fb7e Got this in my mailbox this morning 48hour sale $9
