I have to say - the level of control looks awesome and the promo video on iZotope's page sells it like a pro. But when I listen to the example sounds, I'm like......??? Just sounds like old Korg preset sounds or something I can do in Dimension Pro. What am I missing here?

@SteveC What did you make of the winning entry? Apparently the winner had links to HBO and had even worked with JJ Abrams on Mission Impossible 3. I feel a twitter storm coming on.....:D

After months of psychological stress and anxiety, many of us are feeling the strain. My own way of dealing with stress is to go into nature. But I cannot always get a forest or visit the sea, especially as I am most days chained to my desk teaching lessons. As a result, when I do go into nature I record the sounds I hear and then collate them into sound collages to listen to at night or during moments of stress. I have recently put together some long audio soundscapes (6-10 minutes) together with soothing musical tones and calming drones. I really liked the beginning. If I were to be critical, I'd say it sags a bit in the middle, needed a change of gear. My brother in law works in TV and he said the same thing about my entry...? Did you get your entry in on time? Just for fun, here is my attempt:

I've just released a short EP of instrumentals made during lockdown. Most of them were used in a podcast series called Audio Tales as sounds beds for spoken word tales. Oh yes. There are some great new features such as ripple. Only downside is that there isn't a staged learning tool to get new and old users up to speed on all the new developments. I'm sure I'm missing out on a ton of stuff simply because there isn't a logical learning tool to take you through each new thing. Or maybe I just don't know where to find it...?‍♂️

Also, if you work on a laptop (like I do) I had trouble with the tiny knobs and button icons when I used a demo version. It's probably best suited for a desktop setup.

Is it worth it, or is it a cut down version?

They appear to have fixed the bug in the VST3 file. Everything is running smoothly now. Yay!

I did my entry for the WestWorld contest completely on CbB. As long as you export into the correct format, I works great.

That is not creepy - It's relaxing It's the same sound I use to get to sleep at night. I record sounds when I go camping in the mountains, and this is the kind of sound I use to block traffic and neighbour noise. I've got a speaker system setup with a similar sound playing 24hrs

I'm going for a studio job which requires me to have knowledge of Pro Tools. I used it 20 years ago in a studio environment... never liked it. Now I'm having to relearn it all....still don't like it. I hate that Pro Tools is still industry standard.

I'm not kidding. All I seem to do is invest, invest, invest in equipment, software, effects, and instruments to make music that I have to pay to release and which doesn't pay back on the investment. AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!

If someone would buy some of my music, maybe I would be able to get this upgrade. ? All I seem to do is 'invest' in software with no ROI. And in this moment, I can't afford even this great offer.

You can still do it, but you get a functionally reduced version of W10. Not full functionality. I did it recently on a ancient laptop with W7. It worked but you cannot change settings, you cannot tweak the system....unless you pay for the upgrade. So I rolled back to W7. This may be because that particular laptop had an OEM version of W7 Pro. ?‍♂️

Thanks for the feedback Wookiee. I like using the Spitfire String instruments to lead into most of my tracks... I feel in love with the sound of Frozen Strings and use it on nearly everything I do now. ? I know it's counter intuitive in this age of 'get to the hook in the first 20 seconds' to have intros, but I still like to believe that there are some people out there, like myself, who enjoy long lead ins. I was listening to an interview with a famous R&B artist the other day and she was saying how much she dislikes the way modern music assumes the audience won't enjoy a long intro before getting to the verses...'credit your audience with some intelligence' was the phrase she used. I like that. It goes against the grain of all that you read, but I like that idea. Some of my favourite Elliott Smith tracks have reallllly long intros which only makes the gem that follows that more enjoyable . IMHO. ? Would a bandcamp link be better in the future?

Thanks Lynn. I love the idea of mandolin or perhaps a uke. As I make music purely as a hobby now, I'm always building on tracks over a long long period of time, constantly editing and adding, so next time I come back to this track I'll try out what you suggested.

I was looking at my installed programs the other day and I see that I have two instances of Bandlab Assistant installed. Versions 5.0.6 & 5.2.0 Should there be two installed? What would happen is I uninstall one?
