Given that there are known issues with EastWest and CbB, one thing you could try out is BlueCat's PatchWork, which is a VSTi that can host other VSTi's:: https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_PatchWork/

Basically,  you insert PatchWork Synth as your synth, then load EastWest inside PatchWork.

This means that EastWest is no longer talking to Cakewalk directly, but instead talking to PatchWork.  There may be sufficient differences in the way that PatchWork leverages the VST3 API to keep EastWest happy.

It's not a cheap plugin, but it does allow you to do a host of parallel processing that you couldn't otherwise do in Cakewalk natively.

They provide a demo download, so please try that out and check that it works before committing to buying it.

    That's an interesting approach!

Quite an idea for many things... Something to look into further...

    Thanks Mark!

Man, I hate seeing talented devs go under. It actually compelled me to advise a bunch of small devs at no cost in return for them giving free NFRs to low income musicians (something I didn’t publicly share back then because I was already too busy with paid work).  It's tough for indie devs to make it,  even if they're really talented,  they need to know how to successfully run a business and its rare for one person to be great at both things.

Yeah, like musicians trying to do all the jobs a major label does after first creating their' art?

Now we don't need them, huh?

I suspect there might be a modal dialog hidden behind something that needs closing.

Use CTRL + TAB to switch to Next,  then use CTRL + TAB to cycle through any dialogs being shown.

    Hi Mark!

Not sure who this response it targeted.

My issue is constant with nothing else open, no popups, menu commands don’t respond.

I can open the browser, drag clips in and play/stop but nothing else. Excuse me. I believe I can also toggle the metronome?

    Same here.

I found awful the Discord page, cluttered and very confusing.

Next was unusable in my system for the same reasons Keni explained.

    I decided to quit.

    Hi Andres...

Sorry to hear that you've found no recourse either.... but never give up!

I believe that with a bit more time it will be resolved. Nothing to do but wait. I've made numerous postings in Discord (hmmm is that saying something?) and even installed that more recent update but nothing has changed...

So, hurry up and wait for me! Not a problem as I happily continue working in CbB while awaiting the return of Sonar for my future. My interest in Next pales next to my desire for Sonar! 😉

How about waiting until Next is actually released and available to purchase? The discord thing I suspect is just for beta testers, and there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Of course. You’re correct that we will see when the time comes.

I've been a beta tester many times for a few companies (even an alpha tester fir one product) and I understand some of the reasons for temporary situations such as beta testing.

I’m not fond of the discord software but I use it when I must. Mentioning such does not change anything other than notifying the team leaders of the tester's thoughts.

Oh, and being a beta tester is a gift of a kind but lets not forget that it's also an important part of the development process that the coders look to. We have to speak ip about our experiences.

For me right now without some info or change, I am and will be unable to use Next on my Windows DAW as it is frozen! (Menu commands totally inactive)

    🖖

  6. I've been using Discord (reluctantly) since Cakewalk released Momentum? Was that the name? I didn't like it then and I enjoy it less now. Very confusing with way too many screen distractions and no notices of replies to posts. (If there is such a feature I've been unable to find/activate it)

This forum is the way I prefer. I hope they add Sonar to this same forum or one like it.... <sigh>...

Congratulations and best wishes! Its great you are nominated that in itself is an accomplishment. Good luck and hopefully you get more votes than you predict!

    Thanks Treesha!

I'm open to the possibility of surprise. Only too happy to be a part of this let alone a finalist. In some ways, I feel I won just getting another album finished! (The album in this, the 66th Grammys was my 13th solo album. My 14th is being released 11/23/23 and I'm deep into my 15th already! ;-))

  8. Hmmm. I tested the link so I don’t know why/how/who caused this.

So I just tested it again and it works fine from a few devices/machines here.

I notice that the blocking was not my page, but the domain itself, hearnow.com

Cann you type hearnow.com into the address bar?

then try inexile.hearnow.com on another tab/try?

I don’t know where else to look?

Thanks for the interest either way!

  9. OK... I admit it.

This is not a first for me and I will probably get no more than 2 votes for each of my 3 entries (1 each is my own vote of course), but my album from 2022, Hear Me Calling is in the mix!

    Best Rock Album:

    Hear Me Calling

    by In Exile

    Best Rock Song:

    Just Can't Stop

    The Joke Is On Me

    by In Exile

If any voters are out there and curious? I'd love to hear from you!

    Thanks for the airtime!

    Almost Forgot!

Here's a link to a webpage with links to samples from the album as well as links to assorted streaming sties where it can be found...

    https://inexile.hearnow.com

    Thanks again!

Sunshine Dreaming has brought up the very point that as days go by becomes a very contentious fact to me!

As I have repeatedly stated, I have almost 30 years of projects in the Cakewalk platform.  Users like me that have that much of an investment in this product deserve to at least know an estimated cost of moving forward with Cake much less concrete answers on how long CbB will be accessible and operational if they intend to completely ditch it!

What Roland and Gibson did was hard enough on dedicated Cake users! Now we are in complete limbo once more?

I know that part of marketing is to keep the new products under raps so the unveil will "blow your sox off!"

But when there are users that this marketing is forcing us to revisit the horrible days we went thru before and we have to worry about how to import 30 years worth of hard work into another DAW in whatever short time we have to do so, well , let's just say I feel ambivalent about this whole secretive market thingy!!

Don't think that clients don't come back to remix or add tracks to a project they so called were happy with ten years ago! It happens, believe me! Now what do I do when the DAW I did this project in is dead!

I have opened CbB projects now in Sonar Platinum and X3 even. They open fine but you have to backtrack and remix some things to adjust it enough to work on adding anything, not to mention some features are gone such as articulation maps, etc. The prospect of importing 30 years worth of work is dark and dreary!

I love Cakewalk. They have been stellar with their support and the forum is the best people I have ever had the pleasure to hang out with.

Yes, I have Pro Tools, I have Samplitude, and I have Mixbus! They serve me well but Cakewalk has been the greatest joy to work in and now I  am in a position to say I would love to continue my relationship with Cake, but if we don't get answers pretty soon, I will have to close the door on it!

Again,  not out of anger! I'm just tired of the drama.

Now, excuse me while I get back to exporting 30 years of my life to another DAW!

BTW, Not sure I used the right emoji on your post. I was hoping for some kind of "confused"?

I must agree to a certain point, but also remind ourselves about over-worry.

I've too am a long time 12Tone citizen. From Cakewalk fir Windows on all the way to now with every joy and bump in the road.

You have helped me many times over the decades and have built much respect. I would hate to lose your presence in these surroundings.

I am far below poverty these days but grateful to be allowed to continue my pursuits to a reasonable extent. I’m concerned about the upcoming cost of Sonar but confident in the good people who continue to make this. I believe of good intent and beyond.

The Cakewalk community has long fought for survival and continue to succeed!

As for compatibility issues? You can really only expect best effort and/or extended time as issues arise. Believe me. I had a wire recorder as well as tape when a child, and the history (i.e.) of wax/vinyl/8-track cart/cassette/cd... you get the idea.

I still have a library of 1/4”, 1”, 2” tapes as well as dat tapes...  Remember noise reduction? Sheesh! So many tributaries from the past.

The complications of media portability and survival is not new. It is a challenge to all knowledge. Hard to leave a warning message at a nuclear waste dump that will last as long as the danger. Far better people than I have tried! 😁

    Ultimately, all becomes chaos...

I hope you consider this response in the heart of why it is given. I’m working hard every day myself to maintain calm while awaiting what will come. Right now? I make music with what I have. I will do this tomorrow and the day after until I can’t.

Amongst other things, I hope to be using a future version of Sonar on the last day too!

While 23.09.xxx will likely be the release number, .062 is not the final release. We will be notified when the final release is available.

The current version has been released under the Early Access program.

The final release  of CbB will coexist in the market after the release of Sonar giving users an opportunity to make comparisons.

Thats a distillation of my understanding of the numerous and pertinent posts by the Bakers.

...and I might add, an excellent way for potential new users to get a solid idea of what to expect in Sonar!

I thought we need the UA Connect to be able to install their plugins? Please tell me if there is a hidden way to install singles I beg you 😄 (or I can always uninstall Connect afterwards...)

    I believe you're correct.

I think what Chris was referring to is that it's already been added to his account so he can download and install when convenient. I may be wrong...

I'm not that trusting and grabbed it immediately. Offer is only valid until 10/31/23

20 hours ago, @Lionel  said (from the older thread on this plugin):
    Drew [from UAD] also mentions:
It’s the silver algo with the legacy GUI. We've removed the Mix control and fixed the Emphasis control in a sweet spot.

So it's kind of an 'easy' version of the Silver and has a full preset list - slightly different presets from Silver (some but not others, and some unique presets).

    Even better news! Thanks Steven!

It is the silver model without a mix knob, the high frequency emphasis knob and, I would assume, less presets.

The emphasis knob? I've never used.... Guess I'm not really a pro?
