  1. Some have mentioned CbB taking several minutes to load a project. Not sure why but I'm seeing this due to certain plugins, and not always the same plugin between projects. One project hangs while loading Session Drummer 3. Another one hangs loading Kontakt. And so on. If some of the projects are closed and reopened, they load much faster.
  2. Looks like your using a high resolution monitor on a small screen. Good for games but not so much DAWs. For Windows 11, right-click the desktop and select Display settings Select the monitor your using if you have more than one. Scroll down to Scale & Layout > Scale Set scale to 100% or the recommended % Click on the Scale section to open Click on the Text size section to open Reset Text size to 100-120% using the slider Go back to Display settings Go to Display resolution and set it to 1920x1080 or whatever works best for your screen size.
  3. Thanks John. This was more of an experiment to see how it all works, than routine workflow. According to Celemony, the "Leveling Macro" is part of v5. I still use v4 so may look into it.
  4. Yep. I brought the clips "to" -6 dB. And as the 2 pics above show, the tracks are peaking at -6. I'm hoping these were just momentary glitches, tho I still see the meter discrepancy once in a while. Seems the Inspector meter lags behind a bit now and then.
  5. Later: Today everything seems right, so can't say what the past 2 days were all about. Another anomaly that seems to have corrected itself is one track meter that gave an uneven stereo level until today. These are both mono tracks, recorded mono, interleave set to mono, so I didn't understand why one gave a split level. Now it's fine. yesterday: today:
  6. Guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. Both tracks are dry and routed directly to the interface, no FX or bus involved. Technically I was manually "normalizing" them by bringing low passages up to -6ish and high ones down to -6ish to see if it could be done. But results don't seem consistent. I'm certainly no expert and it may be just what it is. Just seems odd to me. I said CV and TV meters but out of sync meters may be due to an Inspector glitch. Will double check it later. Thanks for weighing in.
  7. Right. In this case I adjusted each clip manually so it would register -6 ish on the playback meter and the entire track played like it had a limiter set to -6 on it. I forgot to say it was done with the track's fader at unity gain (0). Then today when I played the track the meters were way off, like I never adjusted them at all. I'm also noticing meter inconstancies. The CV peak meter and the TV peak meter are not displaying the same values until I click one of them to reset it.
  8. 1. Manually set 2 vocal tracks to -6 dB using Process > Apply Effect > Gain function to each audio segment in the track and bounced the entire track. 2. Verified both track levels by replaying them and meters held consistent at -6 dB. 3. Saved project and closed CbB. 4. Opened project the next day and found the track's audio fluctuating from -9dB to -4dB. So how is this function supposed to work?
  9. Same here but I finally had to remove the SoundBlaster's ASIO from CbB's registry list for CbB to even open. Originally it was benign, but some update broke something and made it hostile. My newer laptop uses RealTek and has no ASIO, so no issues there. EDIT: New Windows 10 install restored the Soundblaster ASIO tho CbB still functions better with it removed from Cakewalk's ASIO registry.
  10. Well, neither plan works with BREVERB2 issue so I go on with the previous ritual. I have 3 versions of BREVERB2 but only 2 appear in Registry. I can't tell which versions are referenced in the older projects or why Sonar/CbB crashes, but replacing it with the latest BREVERB2 and saving the project eliminates the issue for future openings. I just lose the preset data so have to guess that one. Oddly, when I disable all versions, the project opens with a plugin placeholder that lists a ProChannel preset.
  11. Some hardware synths like Yamaha do. At least mine does.
  12. Thanks David, guess at least one of us isn't smart enough to realize that 😁. Terry, not sure if that'll work here but will try it next time.
  13. I hope I'm not implying other's comments are useless or wrong, but if that's how I come across, I apologize.
  14. Usually due to a rogue plugin. But I may have found another reason CbB hides in Background Processes after closing. Bad external drive or controller. After trying to save a project that was open for several hours, CbB said there was some kind of sharing violation with the external USB drive and folder it resides in and wouldn't save it there. So I saved it elsewhere and closed CbB. When I tried to remove the USB drive properly, Windows 11 said it couldn't be removed because it was in use. So I pulled the cord anyway and reconnected it. Then tried to remove it properly again only to get the same warning. Then I checked Task Manager Background Processes and found Cakewalk Application listed twice there. - This is why Windows thinks the USB drive is still in use. Reboot! Since new, the USB drive "case controller" would drop connection after a while and I just reconnect it with no issue. This is the 1st time it had a sharing violation. Probably a sign it's going bad.
  15. Great Idea! One such plugin is the old BREVERB.. Crashes every project it's in when opened. Trouble is I don't remember every project it's in, so it's quit annoying going thru the process for each one. Also remembering to save the project after removing or replacing it don't always happen. Even better is a note that pops up saying: "Smartlimit is being bad today and wants to crash Sonar. Click 'Exclude' to open project, or click 'Continue Anyway' to crash & burn." Another DAW does this and stops the bugger in it's tracks.
  16. That's because the 2 are unrelated on that level. The OP was about why this didn't happen. I was explaining how to update the note data. Event list only reports note data, not track settings. If you want note data to change with the track setting, it has to be done manually in PRV, Event List, or Event Inspector. However, as mentioned, the entire track is governed by Track Channel # assignment no matter the note's channel # ... unless the assignment is "None". Change it in the Inspector or Track Header Output Channel dropdown, or "widget" as some call it, as you did. Note channels are part of the note, like velocity, and are changed in Event List, PRV right-clicking the note, or by selecting all notes and changing them in the Control Bar Event Inspector module. However, no matter the note channel, all notes will play on the channel set in the Track's Output Channel dropdown.
  17. It's in the main Cakewalk folder as Cakewalk.chm. .... was recently updated and every page footer has links to the PDF, online help, online Support, and this forum.
  18. My synths and controller are connected to an ill-fated micro lite via 5 pin din, which is connected via USB 2 thru a USB 3 jack in the laptop. From there it's anyone's guess what happens. I did as Promidi said and turned off everything in Devices from being turned off. We'll see if that helps.
  19. Sometimes I just "select" the track number to highlight all clips/notes and change the MIDI channel in the CB Event Inspector module. This should also update the Event List. To go along with John's comment, if 2 tracks go to the same synth, the channel and sound they play is determined by the track header Output assignment channel, not the note channel. Event List only reports note and event channels. Note and event data can be on any or multiple channels within the track but will still play as expected.
  20. Thanks, I know about initial startup. Could be the sleep setting as it sometimes happens mid stream after everything's been working already.
  21. But it's fun??? It happens since I have a lot of old projects. Also why I keep 32 bit apps installed. Just need to keep them away from CbB.
  22. For some reason CbB will sometimes drop connection to my outboard synths and controller and won't respond to any action from them. Even so, CbB still sees when I turn the Controller on and off, but that's it. A complete reboot of the system is needed to regain it. Could be CbB, the MIDI interface, or Windows USB.
  23. Celemony! I've had to deactivate and reactivate the same computer a time or 2, so it can be confusing. ASAIK he has Melodyne Assistant 5 which should be good-to-go. The only issues with Melodyne on Win11 is older 64 bit versions won't work. Older 32 bit does work but there is no 32 bit v5.... Know that incase you need 32 bit and upgrade to v5, because you can't have both versions installed.
