  1. Noel Borthwick posted this on another thread and I wanted folks to see it. "I'm curious what aspects of a chord track are attractive to you in your workflow. i.e how do you use it. Feel free to make a thread in the feature requests forum." And the thread is now active on Feedback.
  2. Can the forum moderators create a mechanism where members can contribute self created articulation maps for others to download?
  3. I'm trying to keep this thread updated, lots of sources for Cubase expression maps for import.
  4. Great news! This will really give a jumpstart to anyone wanting to use articulation maps in Cakewalk! BabylonWaves is bringing their well received Cubase and Logic product over to Cakewalk. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/coming-soon-art-conductor-for-cakewalk-articulation-maps.100939/ And Art Conductor for Cakewalk will have a feature that utilizes folders to organize instruments into groups, a feature that Cubase users will be very envious of.
  5. While you wait for Cakewalk based tutorials many of the Youtube Cubase expression map tutorials will help with understanding basic concepts. And importing a Cubase expression map for a sample library you own can help you understand how to create your own articulation maps. I've had to use different techniques for different sample libraries. So there is not a one size fits all approach.
  6. Reading thru this thread will get you an overview, problem is not in Cakewalk, it's in Steinberg elicenser.. File SaveAs is the workaround I'm using.
  7. Noel Thanks to you and all the developers for making articulation maps happen. Adding this capability will vault Cakewalk upward in the Daw world. Serious orchestral composers utilize articulation maps extensively and now Cakewalk has joined the short list of Daws that can support them. I first used Cakewalk in 1992, returned to midi last year and am a proud user now and into the future.
  8. Another good and expanding resource for articulation map usage. Nico Schuele Composingtips.com, his new website to complement his Youtube channel. Nico is uploading a number of the Cubase expression maps that he uses as a professional composer. Composingtips.com asks that you create an account to download files. I've tested both the Play ewi files and imported the Cubase expression maps. All works 100%. Bingo, you are up and running with a full string ensemble contained in 5 instances of Play.
  9. Nektar Gx and Lx keyboards work well in Cakewalk.
  10. If you are interested in this thread then reread the first post. I've added new sources and comments. And I saw a thread posting that BabylonWaves might create a package of articulation maps for Cakewalk similar to those they have for Cubase and Logic. FWIW ...
  11. Noel A strategy that allows creation of consistent structure in articulation maps can then be leveraged by using Streamdeck or other touch driven input devices to expedite the creative process. Art Conductor is an example of that strategy in the Cubase world. But I'll bet you are already way ahead of me on this path.
  12. Marc, I was thinking of Art Conductor today as I was pondering strategies for creating Cakewalk artic maps that would support consistent input trigger structures that would in turn support Stream deck, Touchosc, etc. Glad the BabylonWaves maestro is interested in participating.
  13. Asking for input. Has anyone created maps for VSL Synchron based libraries? I'm getting ready to tackle the BBO libraries that I own and am weighing a couple of different structure scenarios. ### Unrelated, fyi, most Cinesample libraries can be converted from the default velocity control of articulations to keysewitch. Go to Mapping page where you can tweak trigger velocities and change to keyswitch. My overall goal is to write articulation maps that use default library setups. But writing maps using velocity is a bit more complicated than keyswitch.
  14. Is it feasible to provide an "adjustment to midi note number" within a individual articulation map, which would apply to all articulations within that map? This would aid when importing expression maps. The need for this will hopefully diminish after the Cakewalk community gets busy importing, tweaking and sharing. Luckily there are a finite number of sample libraries to deal with.
  15. Midi note number is an objective piece of data that we can hold onto while we work through the process of importing Cubase expression maps or creating our own from scratch. Each sample library may assign a different midi note number to C0. So C0 is subjective. Being able to determine what midi note number was assigned by that sample library to C0 will give you the objective data you need to understand what is happening in the articulation maps you build or import.
  16. If this is the only library that is loaded for that project then Cakewalk base octave can be tweaked. The issue certainly isn't unique to the libraries you've been working with. VSL BBO is different than CineSamples is different than EastWest. A request was made to developers that each artic map could have a base octave assigned so won't need to tweak each entry in map. Just another wrinkle to get sorted out. But artic maps have me revisiting a couple of libraries that weren't "nimble" enough for me in the past. Loving it.
  17. I'm not at my computer so I don't have a printscreen for you. On the mapping tab in CS, where you can tweak the velocities used to trigger Cinesample articulations, you can switch velocity to keyswitch, that lets you proceed with C0, D0, ... CS lets you eat your cake anyway you want to.
  18. Thank you for all the work you have done on these. I don't have these libraries but the point is that if we all put time and energy into creating for libraries we do have the entire Cakewalk community will benefit. I will download and archive for later posting on an articulation library that I'm hoping the forum moderators create, attributed to you.
  19. Thanks for all the hard work you are doing in getting this beta up to speed. I've written up "tweak" notes for adjusting the midi note number for various instrument libraries. Currently Cinesample Kontakt and HWBrass Play are same, VSL Synchron is different, Spitfire and OrchTools is different. I often mix these instruments in projects. And I prefer to not have to tweak keyswitch base in each library. While I can certainly live with my tweak notes, having a means of tweaking the base in each articulation map would be helpful. The developers are brave folks. Creating and supporting and understanding articulation maps will challenge all of us.
  20. I would ask that everyone who is reporting problems or suggestions in this thread preface their remarks with "I really appreciate the effort the developers have put into the significant improvements that are being debuted in this EarlyAccess release." Fwiw.
  21. You can learn a lot about using multis in Play or Kontakt with articulation maps at https://arpegiah.com/expression-maps/ Check out the Custom maps section at bottom of page. Yes, the daw mentioned is Cubase, but all the articulation content can be used in Cakewalk. The vstpreset files are not useable in Cakewalk, but looking at the Directions articulations give you a general idea of how to proceed in setting up multis. The files in the upper section can be imported into Cakewalk, use the Directions dir. All the maps I have downloaded from this page have been very useful. Tons of EastWest, Albion One, Metropolis Ark 3, Cinematic Strings 2, Strummed Acoustic Guitar, Cinebrass Core, Orchestral Tools.
  22. Taka a look at my post. You can use midi filter to cause articulations to go to midi channel 2, etc.. The link within my post is worth a read. Example there is Cubase and Cinematic, but general technique can be applied to multis.
  23. I just dropped a request for this into the Early Access forum.
