I cant get Toontrack EZkeys to load in Sonar. It opens but just  displays loading and graphics are incomplete. Any suggestions

Sonar (the beta only release) or a legacy version?

(or the 3rd option Cakewalk by Bandlab that isn't technically "sonar")

It seems not good to buy the separate PA licences of third parties from PA as they would stop the upgrade soon.

edit:   I guess the other time this happened was with Gig Performer.

Both of these companies charge a lot more than outside PA for the update, making them cost prohibitive to upgrade - so I'm not sure that avoiding buying via PA does the consumer any good.

Yes, I rescanned & still had a problem.
I then deleted the ToneX VST3 entries in the registry

and rescanned again and all is now good.

Thanks for this.  What a complete nightmare needing to do this across multiple computers with this update.

The point is that no one from Bandlab ever said that activation would be removed.

Previously the end user at least had some control.  Off-Line Activation, and even a button to refresh activation to give you 6 months.

Opened the program today on the latest build and I have 7 days - and there was zero option prior to that to "refresh" my activation....this could be a very real problem.

The Library.db would be the file you want to use for that, it would be a lighter weight way to keep things in sync from what I can tell for your situation.

    Thanks.

Another observation about the update.  It seems like there is no longer an option to change the CAB to any of the existing IRs/CABs in ones collection (other than specifically imported IRS - which is now going to be a crazy long scroll list instead of something searchable( - am I missing something or is this simplification also a major limitation?)

It backs up to your Documents > IK Multimedia > TONEX folder on that computer on which you are running TONEX so I wouldn't recommend pointing it to a shared location as that could have interesting results but you could try to restore it to a clean install on another machine to test restoring the library on another machine.  However it does back up more than just the Library.db so your results may vary and it is probably better to just use that for quicker transfer/synching.

So is there a preferred method to "copy" the library from one computer to another as it doesn't sync between the account?  Maintaining both of my machines really has taken a significant amount of work to keep them similar, and that doesn't even include presets - which would be mind numbing to also export/import.

The ability to change the guitar* tonality in audio demo to closer match your own is great!

*if previous version had this I was unaware.

Looking forward to taking a deeper dive into this later.

    That part wasn't new.

Nice of the developer to give this away free. It sounds like a Wurli in some respects, but as a massive Wurli fan, it's just okay. I realize the developer doesn't promote this as an authentic Wurli simulation but an analog synth trying to emulate a Wurli, which seems appropriate.  But I'm not sure I enjoy the tone when I play chords (it sounds better when playing single notes, but seems to get muddy when you play a chord).

The developer has another plugin, I think it's called Reed 200A, that comes a lot closer to the Wurli that I think sounds much better. Of course,  it also comes at a price that's significantly higher than free.

Reed 200A was also a giveaway a while back, but only for the golden ear crowd that was able to correctly guess which was the real thing and which was the VSTi.

It was close enough not everyone was getting a copy that is for sure.

But these  freebies are crap! So why strategize?

Normally the strategy is buy some low priced junk you will never use so you can get the decent free with purchase item.

In this case the strategy is to buy something decent for cheap so they throw in something you have no interest in.

That being said, I think we can all appreciate a month free of temptation like this one is this far.

That's why it's a good idea to demo stuff first. 😊

FWIW, Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal is the secret sauce in John Mayer's signal chain. Last time I checked, there were not many plugin emulations of this pedal or the entire series, recently re-issued by Marshall.

honestly think the BB is irrelevant to is signal chain.

Easy to get his style of tone with a Strat and a Two-Rock or Dumble, no $150 pedal needed.

I've used a King of Tone (which is a more refined BB circuit) for over a decade and since it is a pedal it will reduce the dynamic range and touch sensitivity of a good amp.  I've also had an original BB, and while it is better than a tube screamer, it certainly can be improved upon.

Reilka xt is a reverb and I own it from Komplete 14 Standard.

(Edit) never used it in a song.  Tried to, but, blah!

It is more of a delay with the ability to set diffused sounds that get into reverb territory.

I've had the smaller version for many years due to a giveaway and find it still quite useful and unique even though I have a number of heavy hitter delays and reverbs.

Wouldn't pay $30 for it given what I have, but certainly has its place for me.

Agreed on the strategy. Sound advice.  I'm getting there bit by bit. Still $360  or so for me to make it to complete right now though, even with this sale and a discount code.

I'll keep my fingers crossed as to referral  credits. It's a nice program. The guitar recordings for credits  offer was helpful, too.

I've found MeldaProduction's beta releases to be more stable and bug-free than many other companies' final releases.

I tend to agree, but I will say I just tried out the new Machine Learning function in MAutodynamicEQ and it crashed on all 4 attempts.

@Brian Walton Brian, I am (correctly) ashamed to ask this question, but I own Guitar Rig 6, Ampitube 5LE, Bias FX and Electrum and I mostly either use the presets or use presets as a starting point. I've never even explored to see if any of them allow the use of IRs. You listed Amplitube, hopefully the LE version takes IRs too.

    It probably does.

    image.png.791d33efb0b103759c687df394d14580.png

Click the cab, then under that Customer IR and you load from there.

Also if you bypass the cabs on any software you could then run Melda's free MConvolutionEZ and load the IR in there.  Recall having to do that with Electrum as the cab doesn't' seem like it loads IRs, but can be disabled at the click of a button

Related to the CARR matches, you can import those into Tonex which can run in Amplitube (but be aware if you are running the free version it will count against your 20 free ones) from what I understand.

I've been looking at getting MTurbo Amp too.

Can someone who has it share how it compares with others in the category like Neural DSP, Mercuriall, Tonex etc?

ToneX is far more realistic in sound and feel.

I can get usable stuff out of MTurbo Amp with some of the best IRs on the market, but honestly it simply doesn't get used any longer now that I have ToneX and a bunch of aftermarket packs.  I've even profiled some of my TurboAMP patches with ToneX to get them in "pedal form" but they all got removed from my 150 pedal slots - overturned by better stuff created with real gear.

I could say the same about the others on your list but at least MTurbo Amp has a lot more sounds in the box than the others in your list at a reasonable price point.  But note that with MTurbo AMP you do need an external IR loader (with IRSs) or an external cab sim - it will sound truly awful without one.

Once of the main reasons I don't use Melda Productions plugins is how similar they all appear to one an other.  It makes it extremely hard on me to tell which plugin is which.  Yes, I can read, but I would just like to look at the Plugin and just know what it does by appearance!

I've got the free bundle from Melda Productions.  It just sits in my plugin folder unused.  The only thing I might find useful is thier notepad plugin.

At least Waves Audio, despite how much some people hate them, created each plugin with a different visual, except the Renaissance versions which I hate to use for that reason!

As I've said before you need to actually buy the more expensive melda plugins to get the "normal" UI which does look a bit different for each plugin.  While I own many United Plugins, they don't seem to offer what Melda does over all.  Many are less than CPU optimized and offer less in function than Melda even though they are likely developed on a smilar/same platform.
