I thought we need the UA Connect to be able to install their plugins? Please tell me if there is a hidden way to install singles I beg you 😄 (or I can always uninstall Connect afterwards...)

Pretty sure there isn’t. Just wanted to say that its presence in my iLok account tells me it’s available.
BUT I did read at Gearslutz that you may indeed uninstall UA Connect and all will still run fine!

Yes, it a good deal, but waay too much hassle with installing iLok manager, UA connect, make an account etc etc

Next is you have to be interviewed before receiving a plugin program ;/

I just checked if it’s in my iLok account, and it is. No need to download UA connect for now.

The LA-2A is a collection of LA-2A, which are three plugins.

The LA-2A Collection – Three Different Flavors

The Teletronix LA-2A Classic Leveler Collection includes units from three different LA-2A eras — Gray, Silver, and the original LA-2. Here's a simple breakdown.

The UREI-built Silver LA-2A is generally appreciated for its faster time constant and its treatment of transients. This makes it a versatile performer that's suitable for the widest variety of applications — including drums, percussion, and bass guitar.

The Gray model, paying homage to Jim Lawrence's original mid-‘60s Pasadena-built units, is typically used for material requiring a medium-speed compression — think lead and background vocals, keyboards, and (judiciously) acoustic and electric guitars.

The LA-2 model captures the mojo of one of the very earliest Teletronix units, offering the slowest response time and a distinctive "mellow" sound owing to its 50-year-old luminescent panel. It may be best used on legato vocals, strings, and horns. But you know the old maxim, “If it sounds good, it is good!”

The free one is the Universal Audio LA-2A tube compressor

It’s a simplified version of the Silver one, without mix knob.

Yeah, but why „couldn’t stand the heat“? And what mobs? And why is Christian gone? I am very confused.

He purportedly made some TERF-remarks about trans-treatment for adolescents in the UK and got the JK Rowling treatment. Much ado about nothing IMO.

Think I'm sticking with my Overloud Gem version.

Can't believe I'm at the point of not installing every freebie anymore 🤣

    You heathen you

Well, apparently it’s another version, according to UA’s Drew@gearslutz.
