Oh, I'm sure they test it. But they are testing in-house installations with no network-based authentication required. So not a realistic user experience.

To paraphrase something one of their developers posted years ago: "American users are just too demanding. They expect too much."

My biggest question is how on earth does a license verification routine impact so many facets of a program, e.g. laggy UI and audio. Was it phoning the mothership to get permission for every sample? "We have to crack down on these pirates, they're making us look bad."

It seems more software is turning into an iTunes app these days with the click and buy.

So....every other month it drops down to $69? SampleTank 5 must be on its way soon.

It's a great package, I snagged it for $49 using Jam Points, direct from IK.

Yes, it includes a lot of duplicate stuff you don't need, but that's because it covers so much ground. You don't have to install everything. SampleTron 2 and Syntronik 2 alone are worth the ticket price. Miroslav Philharmonik 2 is also of value to anyone who wants to get started with orchestral stuff. A buddy of mine snagged it just to get Neil Peart Drums.

Miroslav was the primary target for me, but the hidden gem was SampleTron. If you've ever wanted to play around with the oddball libraries that most 'tron clones omit, they're here, lo-fi sfx and all. Also, to my delight, a vast Optigan library, including some great lo-fi loops.

Why do people think that?  How many times does an IK product go on sale with no version change?  Almost always.

I think that's the worst one not because of the sound but trying to understand the naming of the patches.

This is exactly the reason why I hate Install Managers (NA...)! 😆

Furthermore this is why I like full Kontakt libraries! With them I skip to use NA. I rarely use NA and that's fine, avoids a lot of trouble! Most of the updates are anyway of no avail to me, they just consume time and sometimes only introduce new problems! 😉

Someone gets it. That's why I buy the imperfect 8dio stuff.  Player libraries are fine if you cant download direct instead of having multiple failed 80gb installs and get a warning from your ISP.

Unfortunately they are creating more enemies than friends.  There are on the race down to zero Waves model.

Best summary of Asshat by the OP.

Eventually this is gonna have to cost them.  Enshitification. They go the **** part right.

I do have my work arounds to get it to work.   NTKDeemon does not uninstall correctly.  I use the old Windows Cleanup Uninstaller.  Watching it go through zillions of registry entries.   Imagine if you had to do that manually.   Add/Remove and Revo doesn't work for this.

Uh-oh.... This does not sound like the Labs we have gotten in the past which were always free.

    Here's what the website says:

"We have built something special for you.

Have your say, get a free trial and discounted early access by joining the waitlist."

Hmmm......maybe in the direction of Musio and Composer Cloud.  If that is the case it's not really a bad thing, Then again...........

    If I' m wrong

"We have built something special for you.

Have your say, get a free trial and discounted early access by joining the waitlist."

It's statements like this that deserve the middle finger salute.

Please refrain from political talk. One of the best things about this forum is it has remained politic free for the most part

Surprised this hasn't been locked yet,  Never hurts for people to edit their posts to avoid such things.

I'd like to SEE them do it. I didn't technically say I'd actually buy it. 😄

I, too have way too many drum machines. Between Boom, Break Tweaker, Tactic (I use it as a drum machine), and the ones included in Komplete Start (not to mention SampleTank 4 MAX and MDrummer), everything I want is covered.

Yet every time I spot a new free one, I am compelled to try it. It's a disorder.

    My favorite is Reason's Redrum.

Add me to the UnAbashed Unfiltered Audio fanboy list. I think I have their entire line up to this point.

Yeah, I'll have it in a couple of years when it drops below $30.

The company I REALLY wish would put out a drum machine is A|A|S.

It must be me but these things are a dime a dozen.  I don't get wowed by these.  It would take me a half hour to look through my software to find out how many I have.  UJAM has plenty of these. The one from Air is great.  There's D16 and there's Konakt libraries.  UVI I think gave one away.  If you have Reason they have some.

To me it's like oh there's another compressor or EQ but shiny and new.

I feel the same way, unfortunately guitar shops are going the way of the DoDo. All the major ones in North NJ are gone. One that's been in business 50 years here just closed their doors a few months ago. The GC near me is a complete joke.

    Sweets is excellent about returns.

I call "sw. E. Et wah ter" Sweets because I'm convinced they have a bot or someone scanning the forums and I swear every time I mention their name in print here I start getting calls from a sales rep.. It's not that they bother me, it's just I can't afford anything and it causes me great anxiety to have tell them I'm not buying. Makes me feel crappy.

Many are that way in smaller areas.  Most of the stuff is low price gear.  You don't see too many USA Fenders, Gibson, PRS. in a small store unless someone traded it in.

Definitely not my experience!  And part of the reason I went with custom guitars.

USA models aren't  all the same.   You can play the same model of a Strat or LP and find differences and I'm guitar stupid and I only go by feel.

I was a fan of the video game ("game" singular, since FO4 was the only one I liked) and am looking forward to seeing the adaptation.

But not enough to give Amazon permission to dip into my checking account every month for all eternity. Some will say "just sign up for the free trial and then cancel". Nah, I am still scarred by my AOL experience 30 years ago. No corporate entity is getting my routing number ever again.

People are ditching Prime.  In the sub pandemic era many subs have almost doubled.  Amazon now wants you to pay more for commercial free content.

that was only the recent "fallout 76" the previous games were much better and not subscription

Fallout 1st is a sub , not 76.  I play it everyday.  Te sub price is no value at all unlike other developers where a sub allows you to play different games.

  14.   I kinda get it.  Software is becoming more of a chore these days.  Too many jump through the hoops just to use something.  I have all of these installation managers and as you get older if you don't have a universal password for all of them you forget.  Password manager don't always work for them and then you have to create a spreadsheet for your passwords.

The days of offline DAWs are almost over.

More is less but very few seem to have that wisdom.

    Here :)

I downloaded the installation file from here and ran it, the downloaded full installer remained in the Downloads folder.

Here?  I can't find it.  Maybe a link would help.

Full installer is 500mb, update is 50mb.

Hi, I need some help. I am trying to install the new Cakewalk SONAR on my new PC, downloaded from the official page at the bottom but it won't let me, I get this warning window... It seems that what is being downloaded is an update and not the full version of it ...ideas?

UPDATE:  Finally the link remains the same for the moment, but a friend provided me with a previous installation file and I was able to solve the problem.

We hope the link is corrected soon.

    Captura de pantalla 2024-04-14 125552.png

It is not solved.  Not everyone has a friend to provide a full installation.

Odd in your case on a new system that it only downloaded the update.
