Yeah but that applies to cross grading a RX post-production suite to an everything bundle, not updating a previous everything bundle to get the new Neutron, Ozone and RX,…. right?

There are some great guides out there on the different types. If someone doesn't link one, then when I'm free later I'll see if I can add a useful one.

For this and FET compressors in general I like them for drums and drum busses most. FET compressors can be snappy and aggressive which often works well for drums.

Good on vocals too, especially in combination with an LA-2A type compressor.

The comcern over a site making a commission from a sale isn't the key point I intended when I compare Larry to the deal sites. Allow me to explain once again.

A deal site that is focused solely on making revenue from affiliate sales commissions. Its sole objective is to get you to make a purchase using its link so it can make revenue from you. It's not going to find the best deal among multiple retailers,  it's only going to show you retailers that give them a commission for your sale and exclude those that do not -- so the universe of what your shown is very limited by the site owner's ability to get a kickback on a sale; most of these principles apply to influencers and the "reviews" they do -- which are mostly motivated by their ability to make a kickback on sales of the products they "review" but some of the smaller ones also do it partially so they can get free product (NFRs) -- of course, all of this means you're seeing a heavily biased view that's not working solely focused on your interests, but on their profit or benefit interests . On a related note, they're going to ignore the small developers that don't give them a kickback when you make a purchase; so they purposely keep the product universe limited to what they can score a kickback on and exclude competitors they don’t get a kickback on. They're also not going to bother keeping up with those little extra discount codes that Larry was so great at sharing -- unless they have a code that generates them additional affiliate revenue.

So you often don't get the best deal among all product resellers. You don't get the extra discount codes and you often don't know about small devs selling direct that don't have an affiliate marketing scheme that gives these deal sites and influencers a kickback for promoting their products.

Now, I'll probably use the deal site by the guy who promotes it on this forum, because it absolutely can be very useful; setting up a bot to watch price drops; well, I'm actually presently doing that. I'm just saying that there's a notable difference in how something curated by Larry works -- a guy with no interest in grabbing a kickback for what he shared -- and a business model entirely based upon creating revenue from people looking for sales information.  I'm not discounting the latter,  I have a long history leading digital marketing that includes leading affiliate marketing at major brands and writing and speaking on these areas to Fortune 500 managers. I just want to point out the difference and how valuable that service Larry provided was, not just to us,  but to small indie developers that don't give affiliate kickbacks.

I got what you were saying the first time. Of course we’d all like Larry back, for many reasons.

Personally I don't mind if any of these sites make money from this, they are providing a service, and a damn good one, good luck and more power to 'em.

I’m with you on this, so long as disclosed in the event the poster is also specifically endorsing the product.

Superior Drummer 2 to 3 and the limited time deal felt pretty unreasonable to me.  Thankfully I have other drum packages.  EZ keys is fairly unique though.

I agree that one move was extremely unreasonable. Other than that one episode though, I find them to be pretty customer-oriented. Certainly more than InMusic’s BFD, which seems incapable of working the unreliability and wonkiness out of their software.

At this point, only a complete newbie wouldn't know that. And the newbie would find out after a few minutes of checking out threads here! You call Larry the king, I prefer "the boss," but either way, I think it's very clear that you and I -- and many others miss him. Not just his deals, but his presence. Hopefully,  in time,  he'll return,  see how people missed him and realize that he's extremely loved and appreciated by 99% of the folks here.

I think you misunderstood me. What I found annoying  was the back and forth on the “mystery” post, apparently about Peter, which had been deleted.

hmmmm, purchased it, didn't think it would be my type of thing, but you never know.

Well . . . I did know, not my type of thing. At least I gave it a shot.

Didn't think much of that either, bought it, due in no small part to yourself Mr Fleer, with all your waxing lyrical about it way back on the old forums, gave it a good whirl then let it sit and gather dust for a few years, gave it another whirl then sold it ☺️

I much prefer normal old type reverbs, which I have heaps of, these other newfangled, hippy trippin' verbs do nothing for me, not a dang thang.

I wouldn’t blame Fleer, but yeah…I hear ya. I have two or three verbs that do special effects,  but for what I do there’s no need to collect any more. Yeah, a tool, but on the list  of things I need to cover, would be one near the bottom of the box. For others it would be super useful…just not me.

I have Dexed and it is awesome for free but head to head it falls very short.  The $10 is an absolute and audible upgrade that is worth it.

    Agree….that’s why I paid the $10:))

  9. For those desiring to pay even less than $10 ….actually zero….for some nice FM sounds, don’t forget about Dexed. Definitely one of my favorite free synths.

    That's awesome, @Craig Fowler!

I'm also curious if this is a recent official development. The response I got on my ticket around 11am EDT was "If you wish to request a refund, you would need to contact Audio Plugin Deals as that is where you purchased MODO DRUM 1.5 SE from. We are not responsible for the handling of their funds, and it is up to their discretion/policies to provide you with a refund or not."

I would push back on this, hard. Why should you have the responsibility for persuading their licensed vendor on this? If IK’s licensed vendor screwed up, IK is the one who should be taking charge of the solution, since it is 1) profiting from this, 2) could have easily drafted its own terms to avoid this situation; and 3) has much more leverage with APD than you would ever have. This “not my problem” attitude is just totally unacceptable coming from a company that claims to value customer service. I’m actually astonished by how long they are allowing people to twist in the wind over this. They are burning way more customer good will with all who are observing this than they will ever save in $ from the relatively small number of people affected.

I am not questioning the actual legality of how IKM is handling this, as that "IK Multimedia reserves the right at its sole discretion to terminate or modify the promotion" line basically lets them do whatever they want.

That is not necessarily true. If a company makes an untrue representation, which is relied on by a customer, to his or her detriment, and the customer had no reason at the time of purchase to think the company had made a mistake, —-such disclaimers do not automatically get the company off the hook.

Dang, wish I hadn’t registered my Modo Drum 1.5 SE yet.

Agree with all of you, but what if you use jam points to buy the qualifying product? Is the initial stated value the ceiling on selecting bonus plugins or the price after jam points are applied?
