Not that easy to do and maintain across updates

Read about skinning bundled plug-ins here

In short, plug-ins using images in folders are easier to re-skin and the skins persist after updates.

Those without image folders like Sonitus do not easily lend themselves to re-skinning.

Yeah! I've seen this that's why this topic is here now.  😁

Their UI needs an upgrade, not just themes.

I spend way too much time dragging the scroll bars around in the Piano Roll just trying to find the notes I want to edit.

It would be great to have a command that would adjust the horizontal and vertical zoom so that all the MIDI note information of the currently selected track were visible (or at least centered) in the window. We have a couple of commands in the Track View that work great for this, I'd like to have something similar for the Piano Roll.

(I know that there is already a command in the PRV menu named "Fit MIDI content." The times I tried it, it seemed to function similarly to the shuffling algorithm in Minesweeper. I don't mind if this command stays for backward compatibility, although I seldom have use for it myself.)

    Just a question:

How does the Ctrl+⬅➡ directional keys work on the PC keyboard for you for that?

Yeah, that's just it, when opening the Task Manager, the Cakewalk related services remain and refuse to be ended when selected.  I will try removing the older versions to see if that helps.

    Thanks

Also keep in mind that Cakewalk isn't very friendly with certain 32bit plugins.

You might want to update your windows and motherboard drivers frim the manufacturers website to keep things running smoothly.

.  My buffers are at 256, but when I try to up them to 512 I get too much latency with most of my VSTi plugs. (My audio interface doesn't help, I'm using a Behringer Xenex 1202FX mixer as my interface, soon to be replaced!)

I wouldn't upgrade the pc hardware to begin with.

My knowledge with Behringer was somewhat sweetly! It brings a unique sound to recordings that I'd like. Unfortunately most Behringer mixers work best with "ASIO4ALL" (not the best converters) Plus, this drivers does not run smoothly with CbB. It forced me to sell my USB 1202fx and grabbed a new cheap Audio Interface with a dedicated Asio Drivers. I was bummed over this, cause I could have just connected an Interface to it, for better latency performance.

To update your Usb Drivers and Audio Drivers Click here

Regarding your system specs: You have nothing to worry here - maybe just up your rams to 16 for now / and / bump up your cores to 8, 12, or 16 when the need for it is required.

Hope this help you in any way.

If I choose to open the task manager the Cakewalk process remains active, and selecting end process does not work.

No need to open X2 to get it to work again. Just open the TASK MANAGER and look for any cakewalk related files besides the main one and end those.

Also, try removing X2. Your plugins will still work in Cakewalk by Bandlab.

Quick question. Does anybody else have issues sometimes with bounced audio containing pops and artifacts, particularly on big transients? I've noticed this problem consistently with a lot of projects but it doesn't happen all the time so it's not the easiest problem to reproduce. Anybody else having this issue or had it before? Pops, clicks and artifacts tend to persist whether I slow-bounce or fast-bounce.

I still wonder the samething at times even when things are not in the hot levels. Then oneday / out of the blue / I heard it, after getting a new desk for my setup which moved me about another extra meter from my monitors.

Everytime you create a send to an Aux or bus track, it adds an extra 3 or 6 dB to the volume. To compensate for that extra bump in volume, I tweak the effects gain knob to count that boost it gives.

I had ask this before, but rather received a lot of criticism and confusion on the question.

I’ve come back to a track that I recorded years ago on Sonar Producer edition. It’s all audio. The drum track was done in fruity loops and saved as an audio file then the rest of the instruments and vocals added.  All was fine on Sonar but when I opened it in Bandlab Cakewalk the drum track is completely out of time with everything else.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

The  only thing I did that was out of the ordinary was that I had to locate the .wav files in the old wave data folder but I’ve done that for other songs and it was all fine.

    cheers

    Tom

Yeah, something did change. Back in Sonar the default BPM was 100 in Cakewalk by Bandlab it's at 120.

Raise or lower the BPM until your drum sample sync'd up with the tempo.

Years ago, I was taught an old habbit and one important one. When ever you save a project, always include the BPM and Key in it's title too.

    Hope this helped you.

I am having a problem with my audio exports when I begin at the starting marker of 0. This is causing an issue when passing bass lines or guitar parts with my bandmates.  It seems to add microseconds at the beginning of the audio export causing the timing to be misaligned when they import the audio file.  However, when I export starting at any other point on the timeline and they import it at that same point, the audio file timing is correctly aligned. For example, if I begin the export at a time of 1:02:000 and import it to the same project, everything is in sync. When I export at a time of 1:01:000, and import it to the same project, it is off by microseconds.

Do us a favour quick in that same project. On the same file, go to the end clip / set you cursor on the next bar and zoom in as far as what Cakewalk allows to go. Is your cropping spot on? Take a snapshot for us if it's not. In the event that it overlap by 1:02:000 kindly go to the beginning of the clip and do the same including a snapshot and send us that too.

I've reported a similar issue before.

Turns out when ripple edit is on, it caused that.

  9. I'm going to keep this question short and straight forward for everyone to engage in and learn.

    Question:

What is the most comfortable Leasing, Purchase and Publish Agreement with an Artist.

Yeah - I will concur with the other person that cautioned against using a ThreadSchedulingModel value of '3'.  Noel had indicated, many months back, that we should NOT be using the aggressive mode (value of 3), because it was still a work in progress, and not stable.

The default for that parameter is 1, and for most computers, you will likely benefit from changing that value to '2'.

Here is a screenshot of setting that in Preferences, and you can always modify it back to a value of '1', if any issues arise with it set to '2'.

Three years and not a single problem in using the aggressive value. I hear what you say though, like you can always set it to it's default Value of two if it doesn't work on you system.

I wanted maximum use of my engines.

Good luck getting LV2 plugins working on Windows.

You know, there's great video's online that shows you how to unpack it. Might wana look in to that.

and try this when you do.

git clone git://github.com/x42/fat1.lv2.git cd fat1.lv2 make submodules make sudo make install PREFIX=/usr.

Also download the jackaudio file from their site and connect to its server.

  12. I'm gona try and help @Craig Reeves here.

Go to preferences/Configuration file undwr the Audio Tab. On that window scroll down to Thread Scheduling Module and Switch it's value to 3 "Aggressive" for more stability.

The aggressive value utilizes more efficient task management that can result in better multi-processing in the daw.

When you're done with that, scroll up to AutomationDecimationMsec and change it that from 50 to 2 or 5. Personally, mine is set on 2.

I know in RnB and in Pop we do a lot of Automation and we don't want the nodes to get quantized accidentally later in the project and having things sounding weird.

This should help making things easier in your workflow. I do a lot of automation where I'm riding crazy on the compressor to smooth out things - especially in EDM and Future Bass projects I get and that always caused issues with Cakewalk crashing at some point. Since changing the Thread Scheduling Module value to aggressive hardly any issues.

    It's worth testing out.

Yes but we all together need Help Bakers to track all these bugs and they can fix it i know. We all can make this DAW Best of all. Many bugs fixed already and i know also Audio snap problems will be fixed. About CAL scripts they are obsolette and Cakewalk don't work with CAL scripting anymo0re.

That's the thing, when it does get mentioned, 10 other users kills your complaint by giving negative comments on it, and apparently you need 10 positive rating for something to get noticed - I was told this twice before. I some where in a topic here.

There's a few Topics here where members have complaint about it being unstabled, but one answer always popped up . . . that they're asking for a whole new daw.

I mean Studio One has done this before, Pro Tools have also rebuild their engines not so long ago.

I'm with @Craig Reeves on this one - Maybe not so much as being fedup, mad or frustrated 😂😂😂😂. All with good intentions though.

I know I'm gona get attacked for this too, but I think the feature requests need to stop and focus shifted more to stability.  Rebuilding Cakewalk with modern technology wouldn't be the worse thing.

I'm gona say this again, I think the issue comes in with the "One Window System" (Multidock) in cakewalk - no other daw have this and since I've been using floating windows, I haven't had much crashes, if not none.

The other day I'd by accident pressed a wrong key on the keyboard and cakewalk for some reason (not the first time) reset all my windows. As I was busy undocking all of them, guess what happened? It crashed!

First thanks for all your hard work improving Cakewalk for us.

Don't know if this minimal issue was detected yet by other users:
The drop down menu of the "select sections..." button in the Select Module goes away quickly before one can choose an option. This happens ONLY in COLLAPSED Select Module.

Try the two default themes that comes with cakewalk.

Is there an easy way to like just put labels or names on the keys of the piano roll? Because I have impact sound work's frame drums and I like to put names on the piano roll so I know which note is what kind of drum..........

    I've googled...studied midi drum maps....watched videos...STILl don't know how to edit the files :<......

Easy! I'm not at my home studio or have my laptop on me, but . . .

1: Right click on any key in the piano roll view.

2: select "use these note name instead."

In the drop down menu select "General Midi Drums" and hit OK.

And, I believe they say Voila! 😊

the "audio sensor" feature that I relied on a lot with the quad capture. I will have to set my levels manually.

This could cause the issue too. The conversion could have a delay in it, causing that "wonkiness."

    Try disabling it.

Then Again. If you're using a USB Microphone, the interface has nothing to do with your mic recordings and quality.
