I have it and he said that it is a spectacular powerful eight-part synthesizer and very easy to use but, the negative thing is that the Parawave developer is very abandoned in terms of updates and plugin support, plus not having a dedication and contact with customers which makes him somewhat distrustful when investing in this plugin....

Take this for what it's worth. There maybe hope. From their FAQ:

    Feature Roadmap

New exciting features are in development and will be released with every major update. It's only a matter of time. To bridge this time for curious users, we assembled a list of the planned features and general ideas for future updates. See it as our vision of future development. The priorities can change depending on the wishes of our users. We appreciate your feedback.

This list is not complete and does not guarantee that every feature will be implemented immediately or in any specific order.

    Advanced Modulations

Planned for Rapid 1.9 is an enhanced 'Routing Nodes' editor with modular sub-processors.

    • Custom source/target mapping curves.
    • "Via" modulation operator.
    • Procedual Gate sequencer.
    • Scale/Pitch Quantizer.
    • Additional per routing modulators.

    Sound Sources

Rapid already provides Wavetables, Multi-Samples, Frequency Modulation, Phase Modulation and even Granular Synthesis. Still, there are possibilities for specific sample based sources that ease the creative process.

    • BPM Based Loop Player.
    • Sample Slice Player.

    Effect Slots

    • Buffer based Granular FX.
    • Phase Vocoder based Spectral FX.

    Workflow Additions

    • Copy/Paste/Save/Load effect stacks.
    • Module Wizard functions.
    • Quick Import.
    • Embedded Presets content.

    Extra Functionality

    • Randomizer.
    • Key switches/latches.
    • Arpgeggiator MIDI out.

The co-founder passed away a couple years ago. Hasn't seen a update in a while, however, I contacted the company and got this info:

Yes, we are indeed still around and still developing. We have been delayed with our releases lately as we continue to resolve some issues with Mac ARM native mode in some DAWs and some issues with the Max for Live AMXD in Ableton 11 on Windows. We are in touch with the developers to address these issues and have some Beta Builds available. I'm testing a new Windows build myself now.

Thanks for your interest and we hope you give our software a try!

There's a free trial. It's a pretty cool piece of software. A lot of overlap with, say, Captain Chords, but it's a totally different approach. I like the chord voicing and rhythm features.

  5. Yeah, that's how I was planning to get it to work. The problem is Roll Control won't open in the current version of Ableton (11.2.6). Appears to be a problem with VST3. Blue Cat's Patchwork VST3 has the same issue; however, they also have a VST2 version which works fine.

The non-instrument version loads fine, but it's useless as you can't send MIDI data to an audio effect in Ableton. Here's what it looks like.

Thanks for testing this out Spice3d!

So it sounds like the rolls part is working okay, but the normal note part isn't working for some reason. I'll need to look into that.

By the way, a couple people are the VI Control Forum mentioned getting it working natively in Ableton. (It might require loading as an instrument rather than an effect.)

Someone explained it this way in a post:

"You need to create 2 MIDI tracks

    1. Roll Control Track
    - Track Arm

    2. Instrument Track
    - MIDI From[Roll Control Track - Roll Control Plugin]
    - Monitor[In] or Track Arm"

  6. Doesn't work natively in Ableton. However, I got it to work using Blue Cat's Patchwork which loads the instrument version just fine and the Patchwork/Roll Control Instrument combo works just like any other instrument in Ableton. The one issue I found is at value 0 in Roll Control, the velocity is at max, but as you dial it up above 0, velocity jumps back down before it gradually ramps up. Also, the Initial Hit toggle doesn't do anything when the value is 0.

I sent you an email with a screenshot.

I also got it to work using PluginGuru's Unify which, like Patchwork, can also host VSTs.

I've tested in FL Studio too (not compatible) and some users have mentioned anecdotally getting things to work in Ableton and Digital Performer.

However, it's a one-monkey operation and DAWs are finicky with Midi FX.

So, for now I'm sticking with DAWs I know my way around enough to be able to do support.

  7. It would be nice if there was a trial, but for just ten bucks, I may give Roll Control a spin later today in Ableton. Maybe CW if I can remember how to use it ? I'll let ya know.

  8. The u-he synths were my last big ones on my checklist. If I only bought stuff I needed, life would be very boring ?

I'm pretty sure that Zebra is the last Gorilla that I don't own.  I have Omnisphere, Falcon, Pigments, Komplete, Total Studio 2, V Collection, Vintage Vault,  HALion, and a lot more.   So the collector in me wants it.  But I don't need it.  I need to learn more about what I already have.

The sell seems to be: buy full Zebra2 for whatever and then on November 15th, Zebra3 comes out and you get it for 30 euros.    It's got to come out then, because otherwise having a Zebra Vintage product makes no sense.

So my plan is to wait for Zebra3 to come out and wait for a sale on it.  And if it never happens, that's okay, as I may have smartened up and decided I no longer want it by that time.    Because otherwise I'm just buying it now so I won't miss out on the opportunity to spend an extra 30 euros and "save" money for something I have no time to use.    I'll save more by not buying it at all, because I've already got more stuff than I need, and I just use Omnisphere, Falcon, Pigments and Cube most of the time anyway.

I'd rather spend my money on a few more Indiginus instruments, to be honest.

  9. Same issue. I think I just click OK instead of Cancel and it just worked. That said, Initially I didn't install the the two reverbs...i got TOO many LOL

    Thanks @cclarry , @Grem , @Spice3d and @trager

It worked ? (I was on MPS4.1) and updated to 5.1 for $149.

Only issue I have is that I only received one iLok serial for the EA reverb bundle.
It activated Stratus 3D just fine, but says it has already been used when I try to activate Symphony 3D with that serial.
Should iZotope have included another serial? Is anyone else seeing this? I have emailed support.
