  1. Hello All,

Here is an item that I saw a while ago that I really wanted to buy,  but I didn't want to pay the asking price of $1,099. 00.  Well that same item has caught my eye again, but I found them used for half of the price.     Take a look at the JamRacks Sidecar on sale used for only $600.00 each.  This is a work of art and will hold 12U of gear.  The shipping price is only $30.00 per piece if you wat to buy them.

I am no longer interested  in purchasing a rack as I built one last year and it is serving me well.   I thought, however, that someone who is willing to purchase one of these has a chance to get it half priced.

    Nothing lame about it.

What problem/s does a Linux DAW solve?

    • Latency?
    • Compatibility?
    • Performance?

The short answer is none of the above.

What is "Lame ***" is Linux as a DAW platform.

    • 20+ years behind Mac and PC
    • Far fewer developers
    • Miniscule user base (Mac/PC DAW user base in tiny compared to general-purpose users.  Linux DAW users are a tiny percentage compared to Mac/PC).
    • Low demand (vs Mac/PC)
    • 101 different OS variants
    • Near zero one-on-one support for less tech-savvy users

What does a miniscule user-base, few developers, and low demand result in?  You guessed it, no significant profit.

The reality of the situation is that (especially in today's economy), companies can't afford thousands of man-hours (development)... for something that's not going to pay for itself.

If your life-savings was invested in a DAW software company, would you honestly think it a wise investment to develop a Linux DAW?

Lets say you've got 10 thousand man-hours in development cost (at $50/man-hour).

    That's half a million dollars.

I don't know about you, but I'd want that $500,000 to generate a decent return on investment.

Mac/PC is going to have a much better ROI... because the user-base is much larger (far more potential customers).

Say Company X compiled the ultimate Linux DAW.

Legitimate support across the many different variants of Linux would be a nightmare (money and time).

Why do you think many laptop developers choose to hide BIOS parameters from end-users?  It's not because it's beneficial from a performance standpoint, it's to save them from potential tech-support nightmare.

If you want to run a Linux DAW "just because you can"... more power to you.

For someone who has everything they want/need in a current Mac/PC DAW, where's the impetus to make a (less than lateral) move?

Emotional/philosophical reasons aren't going to motivate folks to take a significant step backward.

Remember when Mac/PC DAWs were starting to come about?  Oh, this new DAW software is going to be the "ProTools killer".

Just because someone created an alternative (even if it's completely equal in features/function), that's not enough of a reason to get many folks to switch.

Linux as legitimate DAW platform (to completely rival Mac/PC) faces a nearly vertical slope.

    Jim,

How do you really feel about DAWs using the Linux platform?

  3. Hello Alan,

from what I could see fro the preview videos, everything looks great, however, in the preview videos I didn't encounter english subtitles. Also, if you could make thest in english, I truly believe your sales would increase.   I am trying to learn Studio One now and if your videos were in english, I would have bought the Studio One Course.

Good Luck with your venture. 👍👍

About to get my first one. Found this interface that suits my budget, but I'm not sure of the compatibility with Cakewalk. I'm only gonna use a mic and one line for my guitar.

And this should solve my latency issue right?

    Krishna,

How did it go with the M-Audio interface?  have you expierienced any problems using it with CbB?

  5. You can uninstall Kontakt 7 and then reinstall it if you are having problems with it.

Go to control Panel > Programs and Features > look for Kontakt 7 and unintall it.   Restart the computer and then go to Native Access and you will see it there to reinstall again.  Make sure the path is correct to the location where it tshould be installed.

Good Luck because I have no computer technical skills whatsoever  🤣

You are going to love Studio One.   I just got it and I haven't opened CbB since I downloaded it.  There is a lot to learn about the software, but I am enjoying every moment.  If you own External Hardware FX, WhooooWeee, Pipeline XT will blown your mind!

That’s been going on ever since Gibson closed the doors. Best thing that ever happened for focusrite; cha ching!

Shame really, but I’m all in with Sonar…

Focusrite?  I think you mean, best thing that ever happened for Presonus.

I tried to hold off on purchasing Studio One, but the more external hardware I purchased, the harder It was for me to use it adequately in CbB.  You can't use your Mono I/O setting while your Stereo I/O's are already attached.  Bad Cakewalk,... Bad, Bad, Cakewalk.

  9. Here is a coupon AlexProMix15 to use on the PSPaudioware.com website which will give you 15% off your purchase on individual plugins until 12/31/23

It works because I placed PSP Vintage Warmer2 in my cart at 149.00 and the final cost was 124.00  in my cart. ( Didn't buy as I already own the plugin)

Visit the Youtube  channel for AlexProMix to watch, then subscribe to his channel to thank him. 👍

Still I prefer to do a lot of plugin organization, even you are right about the downside (time sink!). The reason for me is that I am not really aware about all my (too many) plugins, thus what to search? But if I can organize e.g. all delays in a folder, then I have an overview and I am able to pick one of the choices! But YMMV!

I just watched this video and now my plugins organized the way I want to see them.

  15. Hello all,

I found a great deal on Studio One 6.5 professional as a crossgrade for only $180.00, that's 30% off of the regular price.  Sorry,  the crossgrade won't work for free DAWS,  only paid version like Sonar X2 forward onto Sonar Platinum.

I am not sure if this is the lowest price out there at the moment, however, this deal  was great and will only last until December 31, 2023.

I made the purchase from the link included above.  They sent me an email telling me I would receive an email soon confirming my purchase.  When I received my email I sent them back a copy of my original receipt from Clevebridge for Sonar Platinum, HERE,  and the next day I receive my Serial key and  the information to create or log into my Presouns account, where I found all the items neccessary for me to download, install and start usong Studio One Pro 6.5.

If you are thinking about getting  any version of Studio One, 6 Check the wesite as all of Presonus Studio One Crossgrades and updates are 30% off until December 31, 2023.
