FWIW, The new Cakewalk Sonar has the same type of feature (drop FX on a channel send to automatically create the effect bus).

    Thanks Jim.

I wasn't aware of this new feature.   There are some components of Cakewalk that I like  better than studio One and that is  it's ability to use the MCU Protocol .   Studio does use some of it, but not like Cakewalk did.  Since Studio has it's own controller, the MCU protocol for Studio one doesn't allow the use any Controller to work properly.  I purchased an ICon QCon Pro G2 Controller and it is very limited in Studio One but works great in CbB.  So there are some ups and downs in both.   But as I said, I like to use hardware  processors, so I need to have those connected as stereo and Mono for my work flow and studio One does that flawlessly for me.

When Sonar was looking like it was going under I panicked and got Studio One, even did one update on it--have never gotten used to it--for whatever reason, things just don't "work" for me, from routing to clicking behavior, etc. No work flow comfort there. How did you get used to it?

    Dave,

I 've been using Sonar since 2.2 and loved it, but I need to work better in my DAW and that's when I decided to go to Studio One 6.  I didn't bail on CbB, I just found another DAW that meets my needs better;  I jut don't use it as often

I use Hardware when I mix and  Sonar or CbB use of External Insert  is what made me go to Studio One, AND the drag and drop for nearly everything in Studio One is incredible.  You would be surprised to find out that there are a great number of CbB members who use Studio One as their Main DAW.

For mixing, I may use my WA stereo Bus Comp or any one of my 3 stereo compressors for that matter.  When I add them to the external Effects rack in CbB, I can ONLY add a stereo pair OR a mono pair, but I can't add both.   So If I want to use a Stereo Comp on the master bus,  and then on the next take of a Vocal use the  Mono Left side of that Compressor, I can't because you have to remove the Stereo pair to add just the Mono left channel in CbB, and this is ridiculous. With Studio One, I can add a Hardware Stereo processor and then also add its  Left Mono and Right  Mono channels as well.   CbB will not allow me to do this at all, You will have to remove the Stereo Compressor to add the left channel or right channel only because CbB thinks it is currently being used.

    Pipeline XT Use with Hardware

The routing is easy, similar to CbB but it's better.  I drop and FX on a channel's send and it immediately creates a Bus for it

  3. Hello All,

I am on the UAD website, and I am seeing some really nice deals.  I just purchased the The Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection for $39.99 plus tax.  The plugins on the low but good side start at $29.99 and go up to $49.99,  $79.99 and above.  There is no coupon to use for this sale and offers end May 28th.

Check it out if you can. 👍

PC Win 10. Hard drive is not filled up yet. Needing storage for future Kontakt instruments and pluigins. The idea is to use a docking station and run some SSD drives from it. Is this a good option? Thank you.

I have a mother board that can accommodate 4 SSD and 2 NVME hard drives.  1 SSD drive is dedicated to Kontakt only and when I installed kontakt, I set an install path to that drive.  Everything Kontakt goes to that 6 TB Hard Drive only.  You can set and external HD for Kontakt as well, just make sure it's large enough for what may happen in the future if you dicide to upgrate to a larger version of Kontakt.

What do you mean by jack adapter? I have a Marshall class 5 head with a headphone jack on the back. To use that I use a TRS splitter into a DI box and attenuate the signal 20 dB. That works fine into a line level input.

Krishna, are you referring to this

  6. LHG,

If you had a computer that already had Windows 10 on it and it got wiped, just reinstall Windows 10 again and connect it to the Internet, it will auto reactivate again.  If it was the home version, the installation must befor  the home version, and if it was for Pro, then the installation must be Pro to reactivate.

How do I set up my guitar and Peavy Vypyr vip 1? I don't see a signal.

    Here's what I tried:

Guitar is connected to amp via standard guitar input, then I use an aux cable in the amp's headphone jack and connect it to the Scarlett via an jack adapter, the the Scarlett connects to my pc. I will need to buy a pair of speakers as I've been using my amp as the output lol.

    Where am I going wrong?

    Krishna..

Place the mic  occordingly,  for acoustic guitars near the soundhole; for electric guitars, close to the amp speaker.  Select the  microphone as the input device in Cakewalk and adjust the input gain to ensure you get a good sound level then hit record and start playing.

You can also record just the guitar without the Amp  by plugging the cable from the guitar into the audio interface and then adding an amp modeling plugin to give you the sound you want by selecting the various available amp models.

    Good luck 🎸

  8. I use Studio One 6+ for mixing and so I am not worried by this update.  Studio One 6.6 to me is like using 6.5.2.... whatever it was previously,  I still have the same mixing tools and it still works the same.

  9. The Focusrite Scarlette OctopPre doesnt have a problem with microphones, it will easly allow for an additionla 8 micropphone to be connect  to the unit for use.  It just doesn't handle hardware the same way. For hardware processors to be connected to the 18i20  and used with mixing I will have to use a device that has AD/DA conversion via ADAT.  This is the Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic, at the minimum from Focusrite or go to another company. likeAudient.

All the smoke and mirrors about the new Sonar and some people not seeing the obvious and listening to reason made me switch to Reaper.

Are we talking about three DAWs here, or is this Reason as stated below.   I can only handle 2 Daws at a time.  🤣

Reason is the capacity of applying logic consciously by drawing conclusions from new or existing information, with the aim of seeking the truth.
