  1. Thanks but here it's exactly the opposite Carl clearly said that he often does remote work so for him to have the key makes whole sense. I don't do any remote work nor looking for mobility for my laptop (and even then I would still prefer to avoid dongles that are sticking out of USB port) so for years my software purchases are dongleless and I somehow settled in such ecosystem based on T-racks as opposite to Slate or UAD etc. If I had to change it now it would be like a paradigm shift for me, lol, and would require buying more dongle-only plugins to justify the change. 99% of my plugins now are local licenses enabled, the few mentioned by me earlier should behave better when no internet and that's it. I can do fine without UAD even though there are a couple of them that I wouldn't mind having so I'll keep waiting, maybe they are just slow in making the change to allowing for machine ilok. The free La2a for me was like a good early sign. Clearly we all agree on cloud-only licenses being useless. edit: I would probably bite if they would release their version of Tri Stereo Chorus native 🤩
  2. That's the best way. For those who use keys. I don't do dongles. I'm not saying one way is better than other, better is whatever works for you. But I quite early decided I won't do dongles and I'm not looking for changing that so I have been speaking from this specific perspective. Pretty sure there are others like me. So even though there were quite a few good deals on UAD plugins recently, I have decided to avoid collecting them once discovered that, for me, they are cloud only. But obviously I snugged the free La2a with machine authorization and it's a nice one! Also that doesn't mean I would mind reading what others like about their growing UAD collection😃.
  3. Like wise I can't stress enough about the importance of having ability to download licenses locally, if they were machine-able I would probably jump on this as well as a few other UAD recent deals but I didn't. Yesterday I happen to have my internet broken for a couple hours and without any notice. ANY CLOUD LICENSE WAS USELESS DURING THIS TIME. I even discovered that while most of my plugins worked fine without internet, there were still some local licenses that didn't work all of a sudden, Hollywood Strings hung up for 10 minutes before they proceeded with loading, Sonible refused to work, Wave Alchemy went into demo mode and Vengeance products got unauthorized and didn't run at all! Is that the new shiny direction for software now 😱, bummer.
  4. For me it's sluggish GUI response when working in Cakewalk's browser that progresses with time. A few minutes after opening Cakewalk, when I click on an effect in the browser, I have to wait for it to be highlighted (blue color) considerably longer. When dragging effect from browser onto a track I have to wait for the GUI to draw this action, if I don't wait it won't accomplish. It's happening with last few Cakewalk updates. Anyone else?
  5. Oh man, is that truth? That reminds me how their first synth, think it was the Juno, it's early installer completely wiped out Vstplugins folder of a group of the first users 😂. They learn too slow.
  6. Maybe they should've picked a bit more sunny day for the recording. FWIW I would try with tumbledryer as last resort.
  7. I knooow (but I'm not allowed to say anything while she's watching.. she's from central europe) Must be a wife CE
  8. I might even consider installing Kontakt 7 Player now... edit after watching the vid: but was really hoping that I can do these vocal runs on my own, not just pre-recorded loops, oh well it's free anyway so thanks
  9. yo did your deal the other way around.. I heard that the komplete and ultimate wives are from CE (Central Europe)
  10. Awww.. so lovely for some disco guitars! I wish it could be a bit cheaper.
  11. me on rehab groups countless times before I gave up
  12. For that, to quickly find out, I use sandboxie as well.
  13. Zips are great, except for people who are either lazy, compute tech resistant or can't tell the difference between vst2 and vst3 and could possibly extract to the wrong folder anyway. I'm fine with it but now more and more 'simple' plugins do install banks of presets somewhere else on the disk along with the plugin, then I'm finding installation process more handy because manual instructions are then often someway unclear for me. It still takes some labour to keep an eye on what the installer is doing to my system. One corner case I remember was when it put the plugin where the resources should go (ProgramData) and the resource files into plugin folder 😂 but these particular guys probably didn't have access to a PC at all and did just some guess work. I'm using sandboxie to isolate cases like that.
  14. All valid points. What I find even more disturbing is when the updates introduce bugs, like for example at some point the AAS installer has changed path for their plugins by moving into a different folder but without clearing out the previous location and you've been left with two sets of the same plugins all inside the global plugin folder. The most recent example is from yesterday, I was updating some AudioThing plugins and at some point I've noticed that the overall count of plugins in my global folder has increased. It turned out there were previous plugins with '_x64' suffix already installed and the new versions were all the same names but without suffix. I mean, man you can't do this. There should be process of cleaning during installation or at least some exclamation, but I don't recon anything.
  15. I heard he's partner of one of the Francisco Partners.
  16. Guys, have some of you noticed how our kids grown up?
  17. Exactly! I'm looking for one EZdrums for half off and one EZX for half off. Is that too much asking for? Oh I can wait another year...
  18. I this a deal or bummer? Cause I'm kind of lost. Where's the "Massive savings", as per the website?
