  1. I have had fast bounce issues (and others), with EW Play, and once in a while with other content, so I usually just turn off Fast Bounce, when working with content from plugins that have given me fast bounce issues in the past. My desktop DOES have 128 GB of memory, so I would give that a shot, but I got rid of my EW subscription, and am loaded up with Kontakt libraries anyways, so I just don't encounter issues with it anymore, and Kontakt seems to render/bounce just fine, with Fast Bounce. I do wish I had been aware of the notion to load more of the EW content into memory, because surely 128 GB would be plenty. Best of luck to those who find success with moving sounds into memory for use with Fast Bounce - wonderful time saver. Bob Bone
  2. I have 2 DAW desktops and 1 laptop. Both destops use AMD, and the laptop uses Intel. and work great. AMD can produce more heat/noise, but I use liquid coolers, and temps are fine.
  3. I am VERY wary of my big dumb fingers, because of all the key bindings / shortcut keys. Glad you are sorted out - hitting the Scroll Lock key seems to befuddle lots of folks, as an observation on threads in the past. Bob Bone
  4. I see in your earlier post in this thread, that you are/were running VstScan.exe version 6.0.2.0, I have 6.0.3.0 on my system. Are you still running version 6.0.2.0? Also, from what I gather, VstScan may be fighting with some other app that is running at the same time. Can you please list all apps running, as well as the background ones you see down in the Windows System Tray area of your desktop screen? (there is likely a little arrow pointing up, next to the little speaker icon down by the data and time in the bottom right part of the task bar, and if you click on that little arrow, it will expand to show you little icons for the background tasks that are running, like your antivirus software, perhaps NVIDIA settings, etc., ) Thanks, Bob Bone
  5. Could your midi connections have changed on either computer? Perhaps the internal assignment is different, even though it shows the same logica name for your USB connected devices? Bob Bone
  6. I use Kontakt pretty much every day - I suggest that you: 1) Run Native Access, to see if any Kontakt or other updates to NI products you have installed 2) In Windows, go to: Settings > Update and Security > and see if there are any Optional Updates waiting for you to explicitly tell it to download and install. Even if you have automatic updates turned on, there are additional updates that require manual clicking to download and install. If you find that there are some that indeed need to be applied, then once those finish, even though it will say you are up to date - still check one more time for updates, in case there are updates available that follow the ones you just finished applying. This frequently happens. I am current on Windows and Native Instruments maintenance, and Kontakt works like a champ in Cakewalk. Hopefully, the above was what was causing your issues, and they will hopefully be resolved, once any outstanding maintenance is applied. Bob Bone
  7. Mine is running at 32c at moment, which is wonderful. That is why I have the CPU liquid cooler
  8. Yup to control things on different channels, you do need to set the midi output channel on your 2nd track, to send midi data on channel 2. I have to do the same thing when controlling multiple loaded instruments in a single Kontakt instance - each instrument gets its own midi channel, so for each midi track, I set the midi output channel for that tracks, to match the corresponding midi channel for the instrument I want that midi track to deal with. It's just the way it works Bob Bone
  9. I have a liquid CPU cooler on my 2 DAW desktops, and they are awesome. I do not overclock whatsoever, because heat can shorten the lifespan of CPU, memory, or video components. I just figure that even without overclocking, using a liquid radiator will keep the CPU running cooler, which is always a good thing. I also have another liquid radiator on the graphics card in one of the desktops, while the other one has the graphics integrated already. I think them to be good to use, myself. Not actually needed, if not overclocking, but helpful nonetheless, at helping the CPU to live a long happy life of comfort Bob Bone
  10. I happen to have 3 computers set up for DAW usage, and some 2 use Intel CPU's and 1 use AMD. Over the years, I have generally favored AMD over Intel, because of the bang for the buck, and AMD CPU's offer more cores for less money, than Intel CPU's. That being said, Thunderbolt 3 is currently available on certain motherboards for Intel CPU's, whereas to the best of my knowledge, no motherboards built for AMD CPU's currently have Thunderbolt 3 headers needed for having Thunderbolt 3. That will change, but it is the way things currently are. The reason Thunderbolt 3 is so attractive to me, is that there are now multiple audio interfaces available, that have Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, and my first experience with that, is having a massively upgraded Dell Alienware 17 R5 laptop, with 2 PCIe M.2 2280 NVME 2 TB drives, and a 2 TB 2.5" SATA III SSD, along with a Thunderbolt 3 port and an Intel CPU. That laptop is BLAZING fast, and it is coupled with a UAD Arrow Thunderbolt 3 audio interface. Amazing speed, and the Thunderbolt 3 protocol supports up to 40 Gb/sec transfer speeds. In the past 5 weeks, I did a bunch, like a BUNCH, of evaluation of laptops for a couple friends looking to use laptops for dual roles of live performance and for music production, and they were interested in having a Thunderbolt 3 port to be paired with a new Presonus Quadra Tunderbolt 3 audio interface. I noticed that there are now sub-$1000 laptops with a combination of a primary drive of type M.2 (some were M.2 NVME and some were M.2 SATA III), while also having a Thunderbolt 3 port. That is a GREAT combination - each also had 16 GB of memory, and Intel CPU's. I just checked, and finally see a motherboard for AMD CPU's, with Thunderbolt 3 support, which could make things quite interesting - I know nothing about this particular motherboard, as of yet, as I literally found it 5 minutes ago: https://www.newegg.com/asrock-x570-phantom-gaming-itx-tb3/p/N82E16813157891?Item=N82E16813157891&Tpk=thunderbolt 3 motherboard Please note that I am not particularly suggesting purchasing, or not, any motherboards from New Egg - the link is provided so that you can examine the specs of the motherboard. Same for the next link, it is simply because New Egg had a Thunderbolt 3 search filter, that returned a wide selection of motherboards for Intel CPU's that have Thunderbolt 3 ports: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=thunderbolt+3+motherboard One more link - I found this January 2020 review of motherboards with Thunderbolt 3 support, which might be good to take a look at, if Thunderbolt 3 is something you might be interested in, whether for now or for later - it is a site for laptops, but this is a review of desktop motherboards: https://thunderboltlaptop.com/best-thunderbolt-3-motherboards/ SO - I generally find AMD CPU's give a great 'bang for the buck', in terms of the number of cores at a good price, while currently, there are far more motherboards for Intel CPU's, that have Thunderbolt 3 ports. If I was building a new DAW and not looking for Thunderbolt 3 support, I would almost certainly go with AMD, and if looking to also have Thunderbolt 3 ports, would look carefully at any AMD-based motherboard that had it, though for now would also definitely evaluate Intel-based motherboards for that support, as there are so many more to choose from. 11. Some plugins do generate a bit of noise, when they are in some demo mode or unauthorized - some Windows Updates can cause some plugins to decide they are not running on an authorized system, even though that very same system WAS fine - it depends on how those plugins determine they are on a new machine or not, and those methods for coming up with a secret formula that they rely on, can interpret the computer has changed, when really it was just some Windows Updates that were applied. I have had this happen to me in the past. Bob Bone
  12. What are the Cakewalk-reported latency values > Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings? Also, if glitches were recorded, in any clips, even fixing the issues for future recording will not fix what was already captured. What happens when you launch a brand new project, and record, using no effects, and an ASIO Buffer Size of either 64 or 128 samples? Bob Bone
  13. AWESOME! I am going to play with this. Bob Bone
  14. Leave the old ones - they may still be referenced by other stuff - and they all live happily alongside each other. Bob Bone
  15. Hey, Joel - some of those optional updates might be big cumulative updates, or other ones that might resolve some of your issues - worth looking at in more detail. I always check every couple of weeks, and apply any such optional updates in Windows Updates, and I am completely current on all Windows 10 maintenance, and have zero crashes or issues with things going south. Bob Bone
  16. Sorry to hear of these issues - I have Windows 10, and a Steinberg/Yamaha UR-22 as well, but have not had to reinstall its drivers since I built the computer - though I will indeed check to see if there are new drivers for it (sounds like there are). Is it possible Windows Updates, like optional ones, have not been installed? Those require explicit action in Windows Update, to get those installed - you can quickly check by going to Settings > Updates and Security, and looking right below the Check for Updates button. If there are optional updates waiting for direction to download and install, they will be displayed there. Perhaps that is contributing to these issues? Bob Bone
  17. Good news - can you please edit your initial post in this thread, and add '(Solved)' to your subject line of that post? Thanks, Bob Bone
  18. I think he was referring to the memory and storage used by the download process, and not his PC specs, as a guess. Is it possible that there is missing Windows Update maintenance to be applied? To check, go to Settings > Update and Security, and look below the Check for Updates button - any optional updates, like cumulative ones, may need explicit action to actually begin their download and install, and perhaps that might help your downloads to work better. Just a thought - and is a quick check, in any case. Bob Bone
  19. I am not sure what you mean by the term flaming. Sorry - can you elaborate please? Thanks. Bob Bone
  20. Are you guys by chance possibly behind on Windows Update maintenance? I ask, because some updates, particularly cumulative ones, often need explicit clicking on an Install or Download and Install tab in Windows Update to actually get those to be installed. If you go into Settings > Update and Security, that puts you into Windows Update, and where you see Check for Updates, if there are such optional updated, you would see them right below the Check for Updates button. Wondering if that might be causing issues like you guys are experiencing. It is a quick check, so if it is not the issue, then not much time taken to have checked it out. Bob Bone

    A Crash Dump File

That is an obviously an Unhandled Exception error (it is in the message) - I believe the 'c0000005' code is an access exception - trying to access protected memory without proper permissions to do so. From past observances, to me, it looks like perhaps one or more C++ runtime libraries, or Windows Update maintenance, is/are not up to date, at a glance. Even with automatic updates in place, some updates require explicit authorization/action to get them to download and install. Perhaps going to Settings > Update and Security > (Windows Update), and telling it to Check for Updates - and looking right below that to see if there are optional updates needing permission to kick off, would help. Not sure how to obtain or check for, potential updates to C++ runtime libraries. (others can hopefully guide through that). Bob Bone
  22. Howdy, David - just curious here. What sound would someone get, if they did not change the Part Mode parameter? I have not encountered that sort of parameter before (I also do not own the RD-700), I am just wondering what that parameter does. Thanks - sorry for the sideways questions, as it does not apply to the thread, I am just trying to understand what that does. Bob Bone
  23. Hi. I did some searching for crashes with that ADSR Sample Manager program, and saw several versions of it had fixes for crashes, including the current 1.2 version, so I am not sure how stable the program is. It also seems that the 1.2 version can now run standalone, so wondering if that also crashes or not. The crash also occurred while the ADSR plugin had control, when it tried to access memory that it didn't have access rights to. What version of the ADSR Sample Manager do you have? Lastly, can you list steps that can repeatedly produce a crash? Thanks, Bob Bone
  24. Yeah - those sneak up on you. I try to check for that kind of stuff, as well as things like Native Access (for NI updates), iLok Management Software (iLok gets updated every now and then), and Arturia's Software Center (V Collection and some other stuff), about every 2-3 weeks. Please post back on your situation, after you get your maintenance up to date, and maybe you will be all better. (I type hopefully) Bob Bone
