  1. Thanks for that info. I really appreciate it. Now that I know there's someone here who's familiar with both the hardware & software I can get with you and set the rest of it up. 🙂JB
  2. I have an LX61 and no trouble. I do have the software installed but it only outlines the first 8 tracks for use. I really only use the Keyboard part and not the controls because I can't seem to get my head around all of the details. I guess I'm missing out on a lot of features, but I can't get my head around the details between the DAW and the keyboard software. Life's too short. I just work as best I can. 😀John B

    The London Way

Very pleasant both musically and lyrically. Your voice suits the style of this and the arrangement is very peaceful. Kinda reminds me of some of Harry Nilsson's quieter ballads. 😃John B.
  4. It's been a while since I wrote something in a 3 or 6 bar, but here finally is one. I tentatively called it "Court Jester's Waltz" thinking it would be like a "working title" till I found something better, but I decided to keep it and develop the concept of a guy being kicked around by a lover, bad friend or just a rotten person with the attitude like "OK, if it makes you feel good to make me feel like a clown I'll play along. What have I got to lose"? And the "waltz" bit? Well, I just get a kick out of a jester waltzing around by himself. Piano & drums by Toontrack. Bass by Trilian Bass Module. Soprano sax solo by Garritan Jazz & Big Band. String Ensemble by NI Session Strings Pro. Occasional laugh track by YouTube. https://johnbowen.bandcamp.com/track/court-jesters-waltz 😃John B
  5. Very dynamic. In fact, it totally kicks ass! I'm not big on this genre, but I must admit, you held my attention and in a good way. 😃John B.

Spun this three times before rendering opinion. Love your vocal work. Might be my ears, but the lead guitar sound a bit off key in some spots. Not blatant and I wonder if you may just want it like that for artistic purposes because it doesn't necessarily sound out of place. Oooh! Those vocal harmonies are delicious. Can't help but wonder what family this song is about but you got a great one here. 😃John B
  7. Yes. Very pro sounding production. Wife sounds like she has been doing this for quite awhile. Just the right vocal inflections at the right places. Well balanced mix. Everything can be heard and appreciated. I gotta spin this for my wife. She's an avid country lover. You got a winner here. 😃John B.
  8. Hi Bob! Sounds to me like you have this pretty well taken care of so I can't offer much. Sounds nice and well balanced to me in every way including recording, mixing, all of your performances. I especially enjoy the vocal. I think it's radio ready as is. 😉John B.
  9. Sorry. I didn't know you were so young.😉
  10. They certainly were four of the biggest giants in Jazz history! 😀John B
  11. Well, you should definitely pay close attention to the current situations mentioned in the video I linked, but if you choose to ignore it, it's your funeral, my friend. 😀John B
  12. You're serious? You don't know who Bill Cosby is? Maybe you're not American but he's a very popular TV personality and comedian who was busted in recent years by the so called #Metoo movement (man hating feminists, for the most part). A bunch of women came out after some 30+ years to claim he sexually assaulted them. Why they waited that long to report a rape is the question of the century. But they all ganged up on him and as the result of one, he is currently in a PA (USA) prison for drugging a women in the 1980 to seduce her. He's 81 years old and legally blind. It's a controversy whether or not he was fairly tried. More details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cosby 😀John B

Man, this is a cerebral piece if I ever seen one! Looks like you put your whole heart and soul into is. I like both the song and the video. I'd really like to experience this on a huge plasma TV. Where did you get the footage of the guy who's talking? Is he a music professor of some kind. I like his message. 😀John B
  14. I like the song, especially the low piano (I love the low register notes on a grand piano). Your vocal and harmonies are right on as is your arrangement. My only nit is in the mix. Sounds to my ears that you have your instruments hard panned too much. When I listen on headphones it sounds like I'm in a tunnel with everything to the extreme right or left except your voice(s). 😀John B BTW- I let the next song, "Defying Gravity" play. Outstanding piece of music!
  15. I've been hearing that this year is the last for support for Win 7 and that we should upgrade to Win 10 by January of 2020 to avoid security disasters. Tell me, is it possible for me to upgrade to Windows 10 on my 6 year old laptop? Or should I just consider replacing it? BTW, I don't use the above mentioned laptop for music production, just general computing. 😀John B.
  16. Look out, guys! We're all about to become Bill Cosby! Get's especially troubling @14:51.
  17. Oh HELL NO! They took away the Boy Scouts and they're working to screw us out of Father's Day too! They simply cannot have any more toxic masculinity. Men are an endangered species.
  18. I use Privacy Badger but not on my dedicated music computer. I hate the kind of ads that just pop up in your face. I HATE those damned things! When you were a kid your mom probably told you to not interrupt. I guess these idiots that program these annoying ad programs never had any upbringing. I just seriously hope they never wind up on the DAW (remember that's free too). It would make me nuclear to have to wait for a damned commercial to play before I could work on a session!😠 JB😀
  19. Well, to tell the truth, at the time when I saw that error, I was breathing pretty heavy. I just got done with a session which was several hours long and finally at the completion of a new project. I was rendering the final mix and I would've exploded in anger to come that far and find I had a permanently corrupted project. That would've been catastrophic. It's kind of typical with me that if I'm going to have a major crisis working on a project, it comes at the very end. Enough to drive any artist completely nutz!!🤯 😀JB
  20. I thought the error message came from Cakewalk. 😕
  21. Yesterday, when I was about to render a project to a WAV file, after I chose File/Export Audio to desktop an error came up saying something like a "Catastrophic Error has occurred. Mixdown cannot be performed! " I may be paraphrasing a bit there but that was essentially the message. I rebooted my PC and went back into the project and tried again with success, but I'm wondering if I got that error because maybe I forgot pick any tracks to bounce (which is a possibility). I remember when I used Sonar X3 Studio and I forgot to choose audio to bounce it would say something like "Operation cannot be performed because no audio was selected." Could it be that Cakewalk by Bandlab (formerly Sonar Platinum) is just more of a "drama queen" about such things, or might there really have been a "catastrophe" there? Thanks 😀John B
  22. What a pretty baby! So sorry for your loss. 😢
  23. I put so much time and effort into a music project between the writing, arranging, recording and finally mixing that by the time I'm done with it I'm completely tired of the new song. Does this happen to anybody else here and if so, how do you prevent it? Thanks 😀John B.
  24. ".....lest we shun them!" It's really funny to me because I live close to Lancaster PA which is a major Amish area. I've seen many horses and buggies in my time. 😀JB
