Hi Bjorn. Thanks so much for the feedback. ๐ Gee, I guess I really didn't think about it much, but you're right. The lyric only rhymes in a few places. The fact that it seems to work anyway proves that lyrics don't necessarily have to rhyme all the time. Kinda like free verse poetry, I guess. To answer your question, no I don't purposely avoid rhyming my lyrics (check some more of them out . Most do rhyme ๐). In this case I just followed my heart in what a person in that situation might say. Thanks again! ๐ John B EDIT-BTW, I did do a thickening trick on the vocal and I updated the mix a few days ago. I put my Fix Doubler plugin on a separate track for the non doubled voice and used the preset called "Stereo Widening", but reduced the mix on it to a very minimal amount. I think it thickened it up a bit. ๐

Thanks for the kind words, Kurt! ๐ John B

I'm thinking 70's too, but no song title comes to mind immediately. Relaxing, in it's own strange way. Nicely produced and recorded. ๐ John B

Did they have to put the band right next to the "Job Johnnies"? ๐คจ Seriously, nice song and performance by all. ๐ John B

Deering & Wookiee-Thanks so much! ๐ JB

Thanks Nigel! ๐

Enjoyed this very much. First I've ever heard of yours. Nice vocal & harmony work. ๐John B

Thanks so much, Lynn. ๐ John B

Noynekker, thanks so much! As far as the strings in the first two choruses, I like to "build up" on the instrumentation as the song progresses, the last chorus being the "climax". ๐ John B

Now, THIS was a prize catch! (if you could afford to drop 4 grand).

I actually had 2. Fostex X15 and a Fostex 160 multitracker which ran at twice the standard speed. This recording was on the X15. I just recently gave those to a Youtuber who calls himself joshismakingmusic. I also gave him my Yamaha drum machine. He says he will make a video on them soon. Jb

Ginger was (we were told) a toy, but I think she was a bit bigger than what my understanding of a toy poodle is. Unfortunately I lost my baby girl 2 years ago. She had stomach cancer. She was almost 15. Thanks for the mic tip. I'll look into the beta. ๐John B

I really like the vocal harmonies in this. Nice groove. ๐John B

Nice and pleasant upbeat rocker. Reminds me a bit of Bob Segar. ๐John B

Thanks John. Funny you suggest using a dynamic mic. Fact is I did use my 30 year old Peavey PVM 38 on this. I just didn't like the way my Avantone CV 12 sounded on this so I dug out my old dynamic and was surprised that it actually sounded better. (I guess it likes my voice better than the CV 12). I'm considering buying a Shure SM7B (and yes, I know I would also need a Cloudlifter preamp), but I don't know if it would sound any better. ๐ John B

Thanks, Jack. I was thinking that too. There is a thinness in the lead vocal. I have the Ozone Imager but when I use it, Cakewalk crashes. I also have the Nugen Stereoizer. Maybe I'll give thar a whirl. ๐ John B

Yes, but the Beatles had better technology even in '67. Thanks for the kudos. ๐ John B

I remember those too. I almost bought one! Like you, I don't see the (re)attraction to analog recording, but YouTube is full of recent vids about it Why would anybody want to step backwards? ๐ John B PS-I think it was the MT2X I had my eyes on.

Your stuff is always pro quality. I love the high energy in this. The vocalist is amazing. ๐ John B

I love the bluesy Geaorge Benson style playing. Would be cool with lyrics but works OK as an instrumental. ๐ John B PS: Impressive you did your own guitar detailing.

I really enjoyed both vids, especially the music in the second. ๐ John B

Original song. Just me trying to write like Boz Scaggs. https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14220058 I hope you enjoy it. ๐ John B

This is the first I've ever heard a tribute to someone's parents with a funky beat but it works well. Love your vocal work on this. The grit is an ear catcher. So now I know you're from Texas. I kinda figured you were from that part of the world. The ruggedness, I guess. ๐ John B

Sounds like you had a lot of fun with this, Freddy. Great sounding blues with the "Freddy J style" ๐John B

Happened on my general use desktop but not my music computer on the same day (Sunday 2/28). I've never had this happen in almost 3 years on my dedicated music PC. Could it be because I still have Windows 8.1 on my music PC but 10 on my general use desktop? ๐ John B PS-Why are some of the emodicons not available?
