  1. Got Mercury and I’m WUPed (don’t judge me). Logged in to Waves and “Got latest version”. Ran Waves Central. Did the update. Installed Mercury. It did that stupid thing where it doesn’t see any Waves plug in’s in my DAW. Felt a vein behind my eyeball start to throb, felt numbness in my left arm, started to taste copper for no reason. Went back to Waves Central. “Fix permissions and ownership”. Working. Time to slap it on some Fender amps and see what’s what.
  2. Insert “Down with the sickness” “uhwah-ah-ah-ah” sound effect.
  3. neener neener, chicken deener.
  4. I have my gripes with these, namely the ‘drive’ reacting differently to the hardware, but.... at $13 with both these codes, it’s a no-brainer to me.
  5. honestly, I think I own everything in these bundles. The only real stuff I’m really lacking on the UA front is amp sims or maybe something I already have in a non-UAD format.
  6. This one is so good, I'm curious if they did something dramatically different when they modeled it. My fav Softube plug in.
  7. Just Symphonic. I used to use the 990 IR’s included in Altiverb for that grainy vibe, or the Ibanez/Sony SDE2000 (different but kinda in that world) but eventually got ahold of a IR set of just the verbs from the SPX90 that I loaded into Altiverb. The “gate reverb” and “reverb gate” eventually got replaced by a Rematrix patch but it’s much less gritty.
  8. Dopamine and Modula are my favorite offerings here... Dopamine for Queen vocals, or anything that can use that shimmery love. Modula for the much loved Spx-90 Symphonic or vocals/guitar, and Dim D for bass width/synths. I’m not a fan of the “Ensemble”, software or hardware. One of these days it might work on a strings patch or something, but I’m just not into it. Note that there is a scaled down version of this called “Gem Mod” that is free from time to time but omits the Symphonic and Ensemble features. I used these on almost every mix, so worth $67 to me, but if you cop a bundle it’s more around $50 each/bundle of 3 or $45 each/bundle of 5. Maybe consider the Binson if you need a 3rd one, and get a lot of “pink floyd” type stuff to work on. I don’t really pay attention to their amp sims.
  9. I really want LM-Correct, and I’d love Paragon, but these prices are still rather high IMO. If it was 65% off the price they are offering, I’d cop it. I own 12 licenses (some are extensions), including Halo for reference on this one deal I singled out.

    $50 off Slate VSX

If I was at NRG, I’d use this to model a control room I thought sounded good (though I do miss that Moroccan live room).
  11. The concern here is the buy out and possibly of vaporware. I use the delay a lot. It’s a goto for long dub throws. Most of the others I’d rather use trying to make something unique at the beginning of a production. Throwing a ring mod on the 2 mix can cause clients to go into shellshock IME. I also own a 6-pedal-hareware version of some of these. So I’m a mooger hardware fan. Some aren’t. For sub $20 prices... I’d at least run demos if I were you and check em.
  12. Also a thread related Tyson quote from a press conference: you know what... I don't wanna get banned here.... nevermind...
  13. I don’t use these too often, but own all of them. I did not expect this from a company like Softube. I’d be flipping tables if they announced this for Atlantis, the Chandler Germanium, or the CL1b. Should we thank them for the head’s up, or.... dust off the Waves Subscription pitchforks?
  14. It's cclarry with his feet kicked up on a 101 channel SSL9000K with 4 plate reverb controls built into the center section, 2 Larcs, 2 Larc2’s, and 1 Larc3. Kidding aside, it took a couple times for it to load on my end as well.
  15. I own Convology, and all of the libraries, minus True Stereo 3 & 4, but I just copped this library and haven’t dug deep yet. Pro’s: Pretty easy to demo for me and even the free version comes with a considerable amount of IR’s. I liked the demo and saw they had a 960 offering so I went for it. A lot of the IR’s are really great. Some are so so. Zero latency option. Bunch of other cool things like eq, predelay, chorusing, width control, reverse, etc. The libraries offer the vast majority of analog gear you may want to call on. Rescalibility by 100, 125, 150 and 200%. Con’s: The libraries are costly- everyone I know that’s got them bought them during a sale, myself included. No search feature. Dear lord- this is my biggest gripe. To my knowledge, you cannot use the IR’s in other IR plug ins. Organization of the IR’s… Some of mine show up within the LIbrary and within a subcategory, and some don’t. This inconsistency annoys me. (see below) They also have a funky subscription plan in the works. https://now.impulserecord.com/subscriptions/
  16. it's like Soundtoys isn't even trying anymore...
  17. *creates 100 emails... purchases 100 trials...*
  18. Some other issues too. Importing presets, at least in Pro Tools, is kinda bizarre. You option click within the plug in in the loss/gain section and load from there. I just saved each one of these as a PT preset, but it appears that at least 2 of the presets are exactly the same. And there’s only like 8 total. For, basically, a compressor/limiter (“dynamic range controller” is their terminology) you have to read a manual to understand, presets would likely be really helpful in understanding it. The automation parameters are also labelled differently, and it’s confusing. You can resize 100%, 125%, or 150%, but just those 3. I could go into it more, but I’m sure there are plenty of youtubes by now. Pros: sound, versatility - both pretty exceptional Cons: Cost, high learning curve, iLok (no cloud, no computer auth), others listed above. My suggestion- wait and hope for a black friday sale, maybe a bundle if you don’t have the EQ by now.
  19. The only interest I have in this is.... atmos capabilities
