  1. Midi can be Quantized to any value. Vocal sync is a way to Quantize audio. So the answer is yes.
  2. To bad CJ is not around anymore, He say " Find the tallest building in town and toss it off it" Back when the Creative Labs stuff caused the same issues we now have with Realtek ASIO. I'd be real surprised if they ever fixed it. I suffered 2 years of grief with a top of the line Audigy Sound Blaster card. It even had 1/4" jacks on a front panel. But the ASIO driver was useless and I found out later that it was actually a close relative of Asio4all, so it was a wrapper, not a proper ASIO driver at all.
  3. What they have said is any bug fixes for CbB were worked out already a few months ago. I’m only speculating, but I believe they are hanging on to the final update and it will be released along with the 2 new DAW’s. Hopefully that update will include untethering the authorization. They are now 100% focused on Sonar and Next so any new recommendations for Cakewalk would be applied to Sonar. Bottom line will be going forward you will have to pay if you want bug fixes and new features.
  4. They must be on that next level they tried to sell me that is for businesses. The whole system is crazy as they sell packages that in my case are my land line, TV and the internet all over fiber. We never watch the TV other than the knowledge network channel as we are spoiled with both You Tube premium and Amazon Prime which is dirt cheap and no commercials. We keep the TV because if we cancel it we actually pay more for the internet! We don’t want to cancel the land line because it’s only $15 and it’s a redundant system. The old relatives would freak out. For me using MP3 files is a waste of time now because 48/24 wave files upload in less than a minute.
  5. I actually live in the middle of nowhere in a way. Grand Forks only has a little over 4,000 people. But we had some forward thinking people here a long time ago and they saw Telus Communication was stringing fiber from the coast to Alberta right up highway 3. So our little town has had fiber for a long time now. I used to live 5 kilometres up the mountain and suffered bad internet for most of my life so I can totally understand pour bandwidth.
  6. Not hard to find out. I often run this test when I'm having issues. I also use it to see how good my Wi Fi is in different places on my property using my Cell Phone as the testing device. Different Wi Fi devices will also get different results sitting right next to each other. My Cell phone is fast but our older laptops are all way slower. Looks like I can stream live music to Seattle with less latency than my Audio interface produces at 256 buffer.
  7. It took about 1 minute to download at my place. Is you internet really slow?
  8. So you are looking at the numbers here. Notice the Bottom General Music Discussion far outstrips this sub forum. 244,327 of that is the Coffee House, of that the Deals sub form is more than half @ 172,811 The saddest sub forum is the Tutorials.
  9. Now that you say that, I guess it's a lot more to do with the CPU then the OS, It came with Vista and we were stuck with that for a few years.
  10. I can confirm that Cakewalk runs on W7. I have an old laptop with it installed I was using to test Cakewalk Playlist. The projects I used were all vere basic but it most certainly works if you can be patient and don’t mind waiting for everything you do to take forever!
  11. It's possibly your browser or anti virus, as I just said I had no problem so it's working. I wasn't logged in I downloaded it to another computer.
  12. As I said just go to the top of this web page and click on "Download" You will see this page where you once again click on Download. That takes you to this page where you once again click on Cakewalk Installer. It will download to your Downloads folder in Windows. I just tried it and its all working perfectly for me. Are you using Windows 10 ?
  13. Everything we request will be for what will become Sonar. As you read, the last free version will be what we have right now with a few minor bug fixes that they had already sorted out before all developments were focused on Sonar. We hope part of the update will be the removal of the time out on authorization as well. That will give users what is now only possible with Sonar X3, a totally untethered DAW.
  14. I’d vote for this . It would be great to have a default setting where I choose my controller and it was always the input. I rarely use anything else and because it is bus powered it is always turned on with my computer.
  15. This video explains everything about audio and Cakewalk.
  16. Basically if you want to automate a light show while using backing tracks you need to use a DAW that handles both Midi and Audio for your playback engine which most do including Cakewalk. Cakewalk has a Playlist feature just for this. I have never heard of a lighting rig using SMPTE? But Midi to DMX is common.
  17. I used that link a month ago and it was an up to date version?
  18. Find a 1984 Chevy Van like I have. Get in and see if you know how to start it. You won’t find any technology. The clock is analog. You pull or flick switches. That’s what Cakewalk is like. It doesn’t use the carburetor any more but they had to add throttle body fuel injection. Now it will have Proper fuel injection and a wireless key fob. Led lights, ABS brakes, traction control, cruise control with sensors, Air bags and on and on. There’s only so much you can do to a 1984 Chevy Van to modernize it.
  19. Yes no point in actually using X3 but still install it and all the extra plug ins first. Then install the latest version of Cakewalk which is exactly the same as X3 but has all the bug fixes and some new features that are definitely worth having. Think of Cakewalk by Bandlab as being Sonar X8. It’s still available free just go to the top of the forum here and look for the links. I have a series of Tutorials that will bring you up to speed a lot faster than guess work and head scratching.
  20. The Samsung Magician offers that option. And yes in all cases I was doubling my drive size. In the past I always thought a clean rebuild was best but man it’s a time consuming task to re install all your software and plug ins. Only XLN needed a Computer re authorized which was a 3 minute task.
  21. Talking to the wind. Almost a month. The OP has revisited the forum but has not responded. @Jerry Pettit did you forget you asked a question?
  22. My recommendation is bulletproof and only for the final project used for playback. That project will have minimal CPU as well as load super fast if you use Cakewalks playlist. Freezing instruments is a temporary fix for CPU needed and the projects will still have to load all the instruments and effects. More things to go wrong so not bulletproof.
  23. Worth mentioning here is that for $50 you can purchase a Samsung Evo SSD. They have a management app called the Magician that I used to Migrate my C drive to the brand new drive . It took about 20 minutes. Done. I did this on3 computers now all running better than ever after the upgrade . SSD drives will slow down and act up in a very short life span if they are being constantly written and erased. Changing a SSD drive is easier than changing the oil in your car now. And about the same price.
