  1. Looks good in your screen shot. That info is totally the same more or less as all 3 of my interfaces. From what you just said I’m thinking you are recording with your effects turned on. This can cause the sync issues for sure. Especially look ahead effects. I always bypass my effects when tracking audio and midi
  2. Roland make good stuff. But that does bring up the question of whether the drivers are up to date or not for W10 latest version. I have an M Audio fast track pro that works with the early versions of W10 but now the drivers can’t even be installed. So even if the driver download says W10 that might not mean the latest update.
  3. First thing I would try is another interface. Possibly you have a store or friend that would lend you one. Another easy way to test would be to disconnect your interface and use on board sound with WASAPI Exclusive mode As long as your not recording that will be fine.
  4. I guess I've never even noticed that. I only use Console view for mixing. A difference might be that I have 2 monitors so track view is always open and with that the Browser and the synth rack too. Like Gregy I use the synth rack a lot. Multi dock views are on the other monitor and either the PVR or the Console view are always open. There are millions of Cakewalk users and you might be the first person looking for that feature to be added. I think it's better to keep the console view uncluttered as possible. It's already too busy.
  5. clicking that should open the VST GUI. Is this happening for all synth tracks or just that one.
  6. You really need to watch the video I’m making. Just finished editing the audio. Take the rest of the weekend to edit the video part. It is Tutorial on latency. My guess is that your not using ASIO and if you are I think Bitflipper is thinking what I’m thinking about your Latency adjustment
  7. No you don't work with CWP files, you Export your master and then you top and tail. What people are telling you to do is to delete the material you don't want then drag the whole song to the starting point. This is a receipt for disaster in Cakewalk if you don't set things right. It works if the song is simple with no automation etc. So best to not worry about the song at the project level and export it and deal with the master as a wave file. I'm just not a fan of using Cakewalk for mastering when wave editors are easily available with a better workflow. Example just a month ago I created a new Cakewalk project for Mastering an album of songs. My goal was to make every songs dynamics and overall sound even. You put all the goodies on the master bus , drag each rough master to a track. And then solo each song as you work on getting things right etc. The sonic portion of this worked just fine and I got things very close to perfect but the export of each track was the downside. It was not hard to drag each track to the starting point but it was never precise like in a wave editor. And every song had a way different amount of space at the end so the exports still needed trimming in a wave editor. Ya I know there are work around to fixing this but it just is clunky and time consuming the wave editor does it in seconds. Not only that I can check the file has no overs or errors.
  8. I think there are at least 3 threads running right now with the Laptop blues. They either work or don't. You shouldn't have to screw around so much just to record audio and on todays machines there seems to be fewer of these types of posts. When there are, it's a laptop.
  9. In your screen shot I see an instrument track with SI drums and some midi data it looks like it is set properly Your guitar track looks like you are in recording standby but your signal is to hot so your going over turn down the gain on your interface only your interface can adjust recording levels Download the latest ASIO drivers for you interface otherwise your tracks won’t sync up properly There are lots of good tutorials on basic set up of Cakewalk try the ones from Creative Sauce first Not sure which M Box you have but on the support web site looks like last driver update was either 2011 or 2014. So chances are that your going to have issues. Time for a new interface. I have the Fast Track Pro of similar vintage and the drivers won't even load into W10.
  10. This happens. Kill it in Task manager. And often peoples anti virus is blocking the install. It should take less than 5 minutes to install on a normal connection.
  11. With ASIO there better not be any issues with sync. Your DAW uses reported latency to adjust playback so your overdubbing will sync perfectly with the original tracks. This is only true in ASIO mode. Your songs would be a total mess if this didn't work properly. If you do a loopback test and compare different driver modes. ASIO is right on. The other modes are late. Second best is WASAPI exclusive which when I tested was very good performance but depends on the interface used. But even though the reported latency was low, Cakewalk doesn’t use it in the calculation so it’s still late by around a 32 note
  12. First. Is there any way to clean up your C drive. It’s not good to have it over a certain amount like 80% or less. How big is it? As far as VST’s go each install is different most allow you to set pathways. Best to keep the main files on C drive and point library to a data drive. it might be you have installed large libraries already and this is what might be hogging up you C drive. But to answer the question yes many people put VST’s and libraries on other drives.
  13. My son bought a Dell laptop was a higher end one too, It just never worked for audio. Dell couldn't help him because audio recording is not on their radar. And he's very tech savvy and always builds his own machines but laptops are another animal. If any one could have made it work he could have. He boiled it down to how the BIOS was set up so this was nothing you could change. So He bought a cheap Acer that worked perfectly from day one. He still has both. Laptops are a crap shoot with audio systems.
  14. There's some confusing answers. Here are the basics Looks like your Korg is an older keyboard so I'll assume it only has Midi din jacks. Take the midi output of the Korg and run it to the midi input of the Focusrite 4i4. This next step there are many options I will only explain the way I do it for clarity Insert a midi track and set the input to your Focusrite midi input. Omni. If it does not show as an option then look in Preferences midi devices and make sure the Focusrite is checked. Insert a soft synth instrument and test it is making sound using the GUI. If you don't hear sound check the instrument tracks output is set to Master- and your master bus is set to output to your 4i4. Now set the output of the midi track to the VST instrument. Make sure input echo is on. In your screen shot it looks like most of what I say is already done except the midi track has nothing to play into.
  15. WAY easier to just top and tail an exported track in a wave editor. Lot's of free wave editors out there. I use Wave Lab ( $100) but I also use Gold Wave which is free to use with nag screen http://www.goldwave.ca/ There's also Audacity and Sound Forge. Cakewalk is your multitrack tape deck, A wave editor is for mastering. Just open or drag and drop the file and in 2 quick mouse moves delete and unwanted material from beginning and end. Cakewalk cant ever export exactly what I want.
  16. Have you run Latency Monitor? https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon Laptops can be nasty homes for some DAW's. They need more setting up. And that's an older interface are the drivers up to date for your OS?
  17. They just didn't test it on Cakewalk which happens a lot. It's not a Cakewalk bug. Its a plug in that needs a little more work.
  18. There's no point in doing this as the compression has to happen in the analog world before it hits the A/D convertors. I bought a Joe Meek 3EQ with a simple compressor just for this reason. There are many good pre amps available as well as analog compressors. You can't use most analog compressor unless your interface has insert however. It would need a mike pre built in first. Some audio interfaces and digital mixers have compression built in but they are kinda pointless as they are digital so the A/D has already slammed the signal into distortion. They can work for "coloring" the signal however which is nice ( sometimes). I also have used small mixers that have a one button compressor on some channels, but they seem to only make the voice louder? Just record the voice best you can at a safe level and deal with the uneven levels afterwards ITB. Or get out that credit card!
  19. If you toggle input monitoring you'll hear the effects etc BUT you'll also hear the round trip latency of your system which might be a lot. This won't work very well for drumming where you'll want tight on the money timing. For stable tracking of audio best to use a safe buffer level and do not use any effects. Bypass all effects while tracking. In a way this interface will work but you have no way of using compression or EQ going in. These will be added after you record. If you desire EQ and compression going in then you will need more outboard gear, like a mixer etc. Just use good mikes and positioning and you'll probably be fine...There's always Drum Replacer Monitor your drums in the headphones using direct monitoring. The blend of your DAW playback and your input is controlled using the knob marked Monitoring.

    Recording Error

That sounds like an audio driver issue for sure. An no you cannot fix that. Lesson learned. You need a bulletproof system for live band capture. Test the system first.
  21. Be warned. Soundcraft mixers have issues with the interface part, the mixers are great- I bought a Signature 10 to use for live performance and the USB worked for about 2 years and now is broken. We only played 7 gigs with it and I also used it briefly as an audio interface. I googled my issue and it seems common. I contacted tech support and they gave me a pulled off the shelf answer which was irrelevant. I think it's the chip inside the mixer is toast. I asked if this is due to USB 3 on their user forum and it's been 3 months and nobody has answered my question. Better off with a dependable interface like Focusrite or Motu and a none usb mixer. Possibly the Behringers have better life span. I was in a band a few years ago and we collectively bought a Yamaha USB mixer. It is still working as far as I know. It used Steinberg drivers and was well done.
  22. I might try a different computer then as I'm know curious. Is there more than one place to download? I used this https://www.asio4all.org/ The home page is pretty offensive.
  23. When you say bounce do you mean a track or a Export mix? A bounce normally is from a track to a track or a group of tracks to a bus. Is this what your doing? And I stopped using Isotope plug ins because they gave me grief. Nice stuff and not really buggy, but they are CPU hogs and I was getting audio crackles even at higher buffers. So you might want to try a bounce without them and see if it goes away.
  24. Are you using W7? I downloaded asio4all and it installed and I get the PDF file and it shows under apps but my system does not recognize it as a driver so I couldn't test it. Last time when I used it was on this same laptop using W7. The Laptop is now W10. And there should be a icon in the tray to access settings etc. I noticed the documentation only mentions W XP and Vista??? So anyhow I uninstalled it and that's that. Anyhow I see this is yet another "waste of time thread" as the OP obviously has wandered off after only 1 post. I wonder how many 1 post users there are on file now? This whole Q&A thread is sort of a waste of time. Nobody ever votes best answer.
  25. I'm not in the habit of bouncing but what comes to mind is your clips are just a bit to hot to begin with so the rendering ( number crunching) pushes something that was too close over the top. I do know this can happen when you export a hot mix that never peaks in the Master bus, but after export will show overs in a wave editor. I write it off as digital mojo. I would recommend working at a safer level. Just thinking an easy solution would be to put a brickwall limiter set at -.1 or? in the effects bin of the track( buss) before bouncing.
