Sorry, but this position seems silly to me. You might not buy Cakewalk because of comments made by a user in a forum??? Sometimes people announce in the forum that they are done with Cakewalk for any of a number of reasons. Personally I think that people are entitled to use or to not use any software based on their own personal preferences, workflows, needs, etc. However, some users vent in the forum to publicly proclaim their dissatisfaction or frustration often pretending to ask questions instead of simply acting on their personal decisions to switch to other software. If you want to switch from Cakewalk to other software, that is a personal decision and in my opinion ought best be done on the basis of your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the software.3 points

Honestly, I'd pay for it as is. But I sure hope they didn't break it to make it look and act like everything else. The only thing that I find that's even close for my work flow is Cubase. Even that has some crucial problems for me. Probably my own fault for using one DAW for 30 years. I'm not scared to use the free version as long as possible if the new Sonar changes too much. Hell...I used Pro Audio 5 for about a decade because it did exactly what I needed it to do. But that was a lot easier to do in an era where you could avoid OS updates and you never let your machine on the internet.3 points

First off, neither of those are Cakewalk plugins. So you'd have to ask their respective developers.3 points

Free, as far as I know. You should be getting update emails. If not, hit support. Over the last year I got update emails for PowerChords, AcousticGuitar and FunkyGuitar.3 points

A great price for an impulse buy. I still checked the walkthroughs and decided there should be enough there to get value from it. Having different engines for the strumming compared to what I already have, as well as new samples, made it an easy buy. I wasn't going to go in on The OTS group buy, so a budget option.3 points

Got here just in time to be told the forum's being updated... I'm seeing some changes, like a line that says what's unread in a topic, and a few different colors, but I also can barely see the buttons in the header now! Apparently, dark grey on black is a thing now? ?2 points

I'm trying it out now. Works great with very low CPU use. It has a granular mode but also a loop mode and a one-shot mode, so very versatile. The only problem is that the samples I drag are not being set to C but to G and there's no way to adjust that from the interface. EDIT: you need to the Root drop down to Auto. It wasn't working at first but when you set it to Manual and then back to Auto it works. This is my main one-shot sampler now.2 points

Your FOMO is calling... collect. Will you accept the charges? Offer valid until August 9th. (can you still make a collect call? or have I just found another way to date myself?)2 points

Melda's not forcing you to activate, they're just pestering you to upgrade to the paid version. Plugin Alliance doesn't force periodic activation, either. It's possible it lost a license file or something.2 points

Hey, but in cheerier news, we're playing the Evergreen State Fair again this year. But we had to give up the coveted 11:00 AM on Friday slot. This time we're the last band on Saturday night. Moving up! Well, we'll probably still be next to the goat exhibit, but still. I'm calling that headliner billing.2 points

Wait? You bought a serial that they...won't let you register?! Sounds like they need to be talking to their resellers and having them pull the UVI licenses!1 point

Also, most of my controllers map very well to MPC software. My Arturia and my Alesis control common q control functions like tempo, zoom, bar length, resolution, tempo, timeline position, etc. It's not as tightly integrated for things like sound selection, but maybe a good trade off if you have a better quality keyboard controller. The free MPC software is limited as a stand alone product, but the limitations are deceptive. A full kit of multiple layered drums and even sample loops counts as one track. Each sound has individual mixing. One track is really multiple tracks in practice. For hip-hop, you can do a complete song within it minus vocals. With that said, I have too many damn samples lol1 point

If Cakewalk by Bandlab needs more money to continue, and it results in some fees for updates, or something, I am happy to pay a reasonable amount. I do not want to go through that awful period again when Cakewalk had no sponsor until Bandlab saved it. So, Bandlab, please do what is reasonable to make this a sustainable product.1 point

That's why I was hoping they'd offer UPS as an alternative, as the UPS depot is less than a mile from me. The FedEx facility is an hour away. But yes, the mixer did finally arrive and I am more than pleased with it. It's my first digital mixer, so of course I'm tickled to have fully-parametric EQ, gates and real compressors (unlike my analog consoles with their mysterious "one-knob" comps - what's the threshold? Guess!) on every channel and bus. 8 outputs so everybody gets their own monitor mix. Built-in pink noise generator and RTA. And the indescribable joy of watching motorized faders dance around on their own when the scene changes. It even records! But I couldn't stop there. I had to upgrade the entire PA system. Sorry, faithful QSCs, but your measly 129dB max SPL just won't cut it anymore. Gotta have 133dB now. Never mind that I almost never go over 100dB, I just want to know I could melt faces if I wanted to.1 point

Nice to know I am not in the boat alone. I have twenty years plus worth of files that I still need to access. So, I am grateful for all these bakers do. I have tried other DAWS, but nothing beats Cakewalk for me.1 point
