  9. They're the same dialog, but act on either the Track View or the Console View depending on where it was launched from. If the Console View has focus (as in Windows focus), the "H" key will bring up the Track Manager dialog and will apply to the console - otherwise it'll apply to the Track View. If "Keep track/console visibility states in sync" is checked, then any changes will apply to both the console and the track view. To avoid confusion, you can launch it from the Console View "Strips" menu for the console view, or from the "Tracks" menu in the Track View. You can also save per-project presets in that dialog here so you can switch between different sets of hidden tracks as required. Note that the presets only contain the tracks that are specifically hidden, so if you add any new tracks they'll be visible by default (until you update your presets of course).

Customers on macOS Ventura 13.3.1(a) or later: This update must be downloaded from line6.com/software. A change in this version of macOS introduced an issue which causes HX Edit to no longer show available Firmware or HX Edit updates. This is resolved in HX Edit 3.61. Bug Fixes in 3.61 Updates would not appear as available for users on macOS Ventura version 13.3.1(a). EXP Bypass Toe Down Behavior parameter was reset to Heel Down when copy/pasting a preset, exporting/importing a preset, or restoring from a backup. 11. I noticed the tutorial on Groove3 last Saturday and also created a thread about it, but alas in the Tutorials forum. Stupid choice, I know. And for the benefit of worthless knowledge, I've made a quick check on Groove3 to see how much coverage some of the currently active DAWS have. Quantities are in number of tutorials available in descending order. Logic Pro: 91 Ableton Live: 54 Pro Tools: 47 Studio One: 41 Cubase: 32 Reason: 29 FL Studio: 13 Reaper: 8 Digital Performer: 7 Bitwig Studio: 3 Cakewalk by BandLab: 1

  13. As with any VSTi situation, MIDI handling will vary in actuality. Though a majority of them will simply accept any channel data, and in theory changing the track filter to redirect the mapping should work, I too find that sometimes it doesn't quite cover everything. For instance, some Kontakt instruments have internal layers of control settings regarding MIDI control mapping. You might look into that. I have had to use MIDI - Omni for input on some organ synths, for using the default multiple keyboard layers & controls. And in Rapture Pro, for instance, each program can often have the pedal input set to only accept pedal MIDI on channel 1, all while the rest of the program will accept any channel. -So, it can get confusing. -It really is on a case-by-case basis. I would suggest using either the above-mentioned method of Process> Find/Change on the tracks that need that (it can take a learning curve, but it works), or using MIDI FX to change the CCs/Channels in the stream dynamically, which can be done without changing the original data. Again, only for problem situations.

  14. Except when they do. In my case, it was a specific Kontakt instrument that won't accept anything unless it's coming from Channel 1. I also tested some other VSTs in my collection (non-Kontakt) and one had the same issue. But you are right. In most cases, the Instrument track will take in MIDI data regardless of the channel. My issue was hyper-specific I suppose. Normally that's what I'd do. But the imported MIDI tracks had the channel data encoded into them (for reference, these files were originally made back in the early 00's). For whatever reason, changing the MIDI track's output didn't do anything. And changing the synth's input channels didn't fix it either. Maybe there's something I'm still overlooking. But the only solution I found that worked was to change the event data itself.

  15. I took the phrase ("Each track is mapped to a different channel") to mean that the OP used the Channel track control widget to map [force] each track to a specific MIDI channel and nevertheless wanted to change MIDI channel data en masse. However, if that's not what the OP meant, forcing each track to a specific MIDI channel using the Channel widget as 57Gregy suggests and leaving the original data intact might also be a good strategy.

  26. I've had 3 Faderports break on me over the years, and have had problems with the motorized fader (and power supply) more times than I can count. They are cheap pieces of plastic. This looks like a tank. Time will tell on this particular device, but SSL is generally pretty reliable on the hardware quality front. And I'd rather buy once and never worry, then constantly replace / fix a cheap pos. I've never been too enthusiastic about this trend of super cheap hardware interfaces / controllers. I took a risk on the Audient Evo 16 for a secondary rig, and it's been nothing but problems throughout the first year. Ya, it cost $550 for what is an equivalent IO device to my RME UFX (which cost $2500 I think), but I've had more problems with the Evo 16 in the first year than I've had with the UFX I in almost 12 years. (Note: Have had no problems with the Audient ID14 or Scarlett 2i2 on my mobile rigs.) I don't mind paying a premium if it's reliable.

  28. Anyone who gripes Groove 3 doesn't have enough content hasn't really looked at their offerings. Aside from tutorials on various DAWs they also have tutorials on playing jazz, blues, singing, guitar, piano, how to use a various soft synths and other VSTs, production techniques for various music styles, and more. Anytime there's someone offering a free month or more of Groove 3 or a nice discount on their subscription it's worth grabbing.

  29. Just go to the topic I linked to and follow the instructions. We figured it out. There are .SPP files there that you can import using Plug-in Manager. Between all of us, I think we covered all but a few PA products and a couple others, like McDSP. No copying files around, no registry editing, just download the .SPP's and import them.

  32. I'm still on the fence about Bassment. It definitely has some nice presets I like, but I have a couple of alternatives. Another thing worth sharing, I found that a bunch of United Plugins are cheaper at Loot Audio's site. For example: Electrum is $20 USD at United Plugin's site and is $16.60 USD at Loot Audio. Bassment is $20 at UP and $17.28 at LA. Pluralis is $20 at UP and $16.25 LA. Of course, if you have credits at United Audio or are a first time customer, you can get it for less (20% off and $10 credit after your first purchase), but otherwise, if you've already purchased at the UP site, your best deal may be at Loot Audio: https://www.lootaudio.com/category/plugins/united-plugins

  33. If you seek the opinions of heavy hitters in the realm of sample libraries, get over to VI Control and read some threads, ask some questions. I think the place started as being oriented toward use of sample libraries and expanded from there. Heaven knows the MeldaProduction stuff in general is not for everyone. Vojtech doesn't market them as such. He's in a niche outside "the most authentic recreation of console X, complete with drifting resistors," "put this mystery plug-in on for fast results," etc. Much of it is for people who want to be able to get under the hood and like to tinker. I don't always want to get under the hood. I don't even usually want to when it comes to mixing FX. Despite having leveraged my referral codes and sale purchases all the way up to MComplete, I only regularly use about 10% of the product line. Once I had MFreeFX, MEssentials and MMixingFX I had all the MeldaProduction stuff I wanted. I think his stuff sounds really good, and it's some of the sippiest on resource usage, which helps me hang on to my trailing edge computer hardware that much longer. And I really respect tight coding. His responsiveness to bug fixing is top notch, up there with Acoustica. As a drummer, you'll understand what I mean when I say that MCompressor is the Ludwig Acrolite of compressors. Workhorse, no frills, sounds great, might be the first one you ever use, but it might also be the last one. I was surprised when I posted in a thread about MeldaProduction over on VI Control and mentioned that MCompressor was the compressor that most helped me unlock the mysteries of compression, because of the informative dynamics display with the moving line. Prior to that I was just copying settings from tutorials and hoping for the best. A number of others chimed in to say that they, too had the same experience. MCompressor triggered their lightbulb moment with compression. If I had to pick a desert island compressor, it would probably come in second to MDynamics, but only second. Contrary to MeldaProduction's (deserved) reputation for complexity and initial opacity, MCompressor is very intuitive, just the right amount of controls (with the notable exception of a mix knob, but that can be worked around), and that amazing display. There are others in the FreeFX bundle that are as easy to operate and characteristically powerful, like MTuner, MMetronome, MStereoscope, MAnalyzer, MOscillator, MNoiseGenerator, and MEQualizer. I watched the YouTube video for the PA equivalent of MSpectralPan and the products are about comparable. If MEqualizer and MCompressor were products that sold for $50 each, they would be among the most highly regarded and recommended. There are deeper features in MCompressor that took me years to stumble across, like the detector pre-EQ and the (amazing at this price point) draw-your-own compression curves. Try switching it to M/S mode and listening to the results. And despite the buttload of saturation plug-ins that I've tried, MEqualizer's saturation knob is still my favorite for that kind of sweetening. It's the only (non-Melda) EQ I've come across that does what it does with harmonics, which is so useful and powerful when making sounds cooperate in a mix, taming cymbal ping, etc. The automatic band soloing is also useful. If you can handle sonible's EQ's, MEQualizer will be no problem, and has features not present in sonible's (or iZotope's). So, my recommendation is that in their next 50% off sale, use @Brian Walton's referral code and the newsletter sign-up bonus to upgrade the FreeFX bundle for about $11 cash. Gets rid of the nag strip at the bottom and opens up some extra features. And it's probably all the MeldaProduction product you'll ever want or need. More, even.

  37. My back up plan has always been X3 if all else failed. I don't really use much of what has been introduced since then, so it's not like I would lose too much. The return of the sea of grey would be quite annoying, but probably no more so than the UI's of the alternatives.

  39. I've been using Focal Alpha 80 Evos for the past year. I'd always admired Focals but they were just too expensive. Then last year the amplifiers crapped out in my Emotivas (my all-time favorites, but sadly discontinued and no longer available) and I had to scramble to replace them without having money set aside in advance. Focal had just come out with this model and I hadn't heard them, but I trusted that Focal wouldn't risk their reputation by putting garbage on the market. And they were listed at an amazing price of $500 each. At a grand for the pair they'd be the cheapest monitors I'd ever bought. Long story short, they are not impressive. They do the job, and I've become accustomed to them. But gosh, I miss folded-ribbon tweeters.

  40. Will, The PreSonus Sceptre S6 abd S8 are Coaxial Monitors, you shoulc be able to find them in the music stores. Also, certain Genelic Monitors are Coaxial as well. The Frontiers are not found in the stores, but can be shipped out to you for a trial run and if you don't want to buy them, then you can ship them back. Barefoot is one of the premiere monitors around, and at $1,399.00 / pair, that is saying something. I purchased a pair of these, and when I played back some of my old mixes, I could hear all of the mistakes. 😒

  41. Alright! Just to close the loop, here is what the issue was: Simply plugging the Tascam into the computer did not give it the most current driver so I went to Tascam's site and got it. Then Cakewalk wouldn't let me use the ASIO driver and would only do so by disabling Realtek. Once I did that, I could use Tascam's ASIO driver and it then displayed correctly in the drop down (US-2X2HR (2in, 2 out) and most importantly, the problem of volume drop went away. YAY! I REALLY appreciate everyone's input and suggestions with this.....it was straight up crazy making. \m/

  43. Jerry Goldsmith's score for my favorite movie, L.A. Confidential, captures/enhances the mood so well. He taps into the collective pop culture memory of Dragnet with the tympani, strings and brass. I can't hear it without picturing Ed, Bud and Jack prowling the turn of the 50's. Bill Parker and the change from a small-town policing model to a high tech military model looms in the near future. Jerry was born and raised in Los Angeles and was in his 20's during the years depicted in the film. The ideal composer for the job:
