  1. Congratulations (To Noel & team) on another great release. More than that though; I’m blown away by the extent of involvement by the devs especially post release and the speed with which they respond to questions and problem solving. Anybody would think Cakewalk is a fully paid for commercial product with a large development budget. This level of support far exceeds the efforts visible to users in the pre-Bandlab days. I know the team has always been fairly active on the forum but certainly not at today’s levels. I genuinely wonder what the change has been from then (Gibson days eg) to bring about this open dialog. It’s very refreshing.

  2. Mogwai Multi Gate is FREE at the moment - normally $9.99. No idea how long for - lots of other stuff on sale. I know nothing about their plugins. But free is one of my favourite four letter words beginning with F. I like the word fume as well. https://mogwaiaudiotools.com.au/product/mgate-multi/

  3. I think the response would have been different if you’d actually asked for help trying to solve your specific problems. This is actually a very helpful forum with many knowledgeable people. Even the developers stop by almost daily. Having said that, this is a forum for the Windows application Cakewalk by BandLab (formally SONAR), and not the web based BandLab DAW. It’s sad that you didn’t stay for a bit longer as I’m sure your problems would eventually have been solved. Still, if you would change your mind I'm sure that a lot of people here would help you out.

  5. WowZER, just one week into it and I’m actually blown away by the added features & workflow enhancements in this 2021.04 update. After getting over the very unexpected shock and awe of launching CbB up for the 1st time into the new 4K UHD GUI (at first I thought I was hallucinating from a reaction from getting my 2nd COVID vaccination Jab) as everything seemed to almost appear in 3D and so unusually crisp, clear and vivid. I kinda skipped over the section of 4K resolution enhancements in the release notes, but my Radeon Pro graphics drivers picked up on them instantly upon launch. It didn’t take me very long to realize that the new 4K res. in CbB isn’t just bling and a simple pretty face lift, but a MAJOR editing workflow enhancements for automating envelopes, plugins, and piano roll MIDI editing, and REALLY brings out in ultra fine visual details what’s going on with both my Behringer X Touch & Novation Impulse 61 MIDI DAW controllers. My 2 main weapons of choice for breathing the feel human life with all the knobs, faders, & buttons into otherwise static and sterile digital & MIDI recording & sequencing. Which brings me to what I consider the other “Cup of Drool” MAJOR workflow enhancement I’ve dived into this past week. The depth & power of 2021.04’s “Tempo Track” which so far seems to be able to perform & give ACID Pro’s tempo editing a run for it’s money and NO other DAW’s I’ve EVER tried have ever come this close to doing THAT. For those of us traditionally trained musician/composers having the ability to easily change tempo and keeping a nice flow in a musical composition has always been a challenge to translate a hand written "emotional" musical score into a humanly impossible PERFECT MIDI tempo sequence and be able to maintain a human feel. And while I'm ADIMENT about practicing and starting the first few tracks of recording sessions with a metronome, us mortal humans are NOT perfect and incapable of keeping perfect time. It's unnatural, and as our emotions and spirits flow and drift off a bit for effect, so must our MIDI comps. If we want to keep a natural human feel to our performances. And now thanks to this new and improved automatable Tempo Track in 2021.04 update, what could take me hours or even days to get right now only takes me minutes of EASY PEEZY. 😆 And even little things like having the all FX plugins listed in one window as opposed to scrolling down to find the right one is a HUGE workflow enhancement! 😂 Well that’s all the great new news I’ve got so far, but it’s only been a week, and a great & FUN week of digg’in into CbB. THANK YOU CAKEWALK BAKERS! YOU GUYS ROCK!🙏🏼

  13. I personally don't see what the problem is - according to the article, the telemetry is optional. Furthermore, it remains open source - anyone with relevant programming experience (including the original owners/maintainers of Audacity) can fork the latest release and disable the telemetry if they felt that strongly about it.

  14. Definitely agree that Pianoteq sounds better - if £58.56 is half price for TruePianos, I'd definitely recommend at least looking at Pianoteq Stage

  15. Epic Piano looks like something I could very well use often...for under $20 seems like a no-brainer. Anyone have any experience with the any other plug ins here? The price is right, but not sure anything else I actually "need." hahaha. Since when does that come into play?

  17. Currently obsolete. Tabs are leftovers from when the synth rack was part of the Browser. A while back they separated it from the Browser even tho it's still tied to it. Confusing for sure when collapsed. I would have preferred they left it as-was and made each tab draggable out to it's own floating window instead of just the synth rack.

  20. When I seen this, I thought to myself Fleer is going to be all over this like a fat kid on a cup cake. I remember back on the old forums when Adaptiverb was released, all your oohing and aaring and rapturous enthusiasm for the plugin. I managed to resist for a while, but your love and enthusiastic commentary never waned, so I gave in and purchased it. Wrong move, I tinkered with it for a time, but being a simple guitarist, it was just a little to funky for me. It sat there in my plugin folder for a few years, , only having a tinker every now and then, but that's all. Then one day I saw a post on KVR's Buy and Sell, someone looking for it, contacted them, done deal, lesson learned. I'm just a simple man With simple needs and following Fleer Will ensure it bleeds

  21. Different opinion here. It’s one of a very small group of modeled pianos with Pianoteq and Arturia’s V Piano, both being infinitely better as TruePianos are not being updated. But for a modeled piano it still deserves respect in my book.

  23. The difference is mainly tube (pentode/triode) vs transistor(fet/zener). The HG-2MS seems comparable to the VSM-4 given the tube layout. As for sound, the VSM-3 might be "more different" from the HG-2MS than the VSM-4. I was trying to decide if it was worth the effort to demo. ... update... And then Larry posts this ^^^. I'm pretty happy with the HG-2MS on acoustic/organic tracks.

  27. From the bottom up: 200w per side power amp Custom built input director Alembic 2 ch preamp SansAmp GED-2112 preamp On top of the rack is a two way selector The two way selector chooses either the Alembic or SansAmp preamp. The input director can accept my Alembic Series 1 (far left 5 pin input), Stereo Out of Rick bass or any mono bass. In order for the mono bass to run there is a Mono/Stereo switch, it must be selected to Mono. The input director also send the signals to the Alembic preamp. Finally the input director powers on/off everything as it has AC inputs on the back so all the other units leave their power switches on 24/7 365. I did this mainly because the Alembic preamp's power switch is at the back of the unit.

  28. Hi Everybody, This is a brand new track I just finished up for the album I'm currently working on called "The Westerly Sessions Vol. VII". As always, any comments or critiques are welcome, and thanks for listening😊 Here it is: https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14239440

  29. I have to admit, when I first read the title I thought maybe you had lost your senses, and this might be one of those IBTL threads, or maybe even a "banned for life," threads, because maybe you are still in mourning, and folks can do some crazy things when the shroud has been wrapped. Thankfully though not that. that is one nice live rig bass rack you have there. I have a request, how about you post a bass solo and walk us all through the sonic capabilities of this rig. That would be very cool, and archival, because you just never know.

  30. For the record I didn't know what TL;DR meant either - not everyone understands these abbreviations - LOL is about as far as I go! It does seem to me that slagging off a piece of software without understanding the differences between different products provided by a company is, to say the least, a little unfair. If I had a problem with Word I wouldn't moan about Excel! If the OP stays around he will find lots of really helpful people who will try to point him in the right direction and do their utmost to resolve his problem - I don't see any antagonism in the responses even though he appeared to criticise a piece of software that hundreds of us are using to create music projects with only occasional problems - to which the development team and forum members respond quickly and, within reason, effectively.

  36. Not quite. YLIP started out as a basic dump of every theme-able element as listed in the Theme Editor. If the entry in YLIP isn't bold text then that means either that I haven't bothered to track it down and document it (because it's obvious), or I haven't found it YET. At the point of determining with 99% confidence that the element is no longer used, I mark it "No Longer Used" or "Obsolete". Thanks for reminding me about this one - the Synth Rack tabs are not used as far as I can tell, and I believe @sjoens is correct about this. I'll mark them as such in the next YLIP update.

  37. An American tourist is in Germany and goes into a bar. He asks, "Do you have any American beer?" The bartender says "Nein". The American says, "Well give me the closest thing you have." The bartender hands him a glass of tap water. Caveat: That joke is dated. Some microbreweries are producing really good stuff (at least in my area).

  39. Me too - as far as saturation plugins (...and other types of plugins now that I think about it), I think I'm covered, or at least until my next bout of GAS 😜 I was wondering because my impression of Zo's Black Box review was that it was one of best sounding plugins at the time.

  41. The only time I looked (when it seemed that it might be able to both open and play .cwp files) Reaper could be made to look ok, via themes, but the menus were terrible, almost as if the makers had never considered that a user might need to find something at some point. Never seriously looked at the other two, but yeah if Bitwig was on a dating site, it would be probably be described as fun and cuddly with GSOH.

  43. Doug I always kind of hesitate with the crits, because you have a definite "style" that just works; there's a "signature" to your productions. I will say that on the DT990's here the bass is just a bit loud to my ears (totally a "taste" thing). And the kick is a bit "undefined", I like a little "beater" (again "taste"), although during the solo I thought I heard a bit of beater. As always, a big fan, another good one! 👍's t

  44. Features are great but also the sound !! Like stated in the video , vsm 4 , like blackbox is tube based , while vsm 3 isnt so you get diff vibes and impact on sounds , blackbox share more in comon imho with vsm 4 than vsm 3 exept just for the workflow ...
