Ok...found out some information. He's alive, but in the hospital and not well. But I was told that he will contact us when he gets out of the Hospital... So that's good news!11 points

Great news! I was just about to suggest that perhaps he's still alive... didn't wanna jinx it! Thank you so much Larsy for all your efforts!!! Awesome work as always ?5 points

The mission was a success! I probably still need to get him a better monitor but he's in business for now. Thanks again for all of the input! Rocky5 points

I think that, in light of the new info, we hold off on anything until we hear from him...3 points

I think that we should try to fulfil his last wish here on this forum and get the money to his family no matter what. Even if it takes until April, May... it means nothing else that more effort from our part. We will get there at the end! Steps: 1. So he had left 3 kids behind. Contacting local schools and asking / trying to find out in which school they go to. 2. as Grem suggested. Contacting local tv station 3. Contacting local newspapers . Same as above with the addition to ask for the ''death announcement'' being made last couple of months that would match the name surname you have for Terry. 4. Anyone on the Facebook that was a friend with him that we could find and get in touch with?? 5. If we pay for the advertising on the Facebook, with the text that would explain our mission, it wouldn't cost that much...3 points
-
This is off the top of my head.... Reach out to local tv stations "Action Reporter" in his area and tell them the story and where we at and how we'd love to give the money to his family as he intended it to be.3 points

Where is the search at right now? We know his town, but IIRC that's about all know. I'd love to help the search but I think for privacy purposes any further info hasn't been divulged. I'm with Mibby (and a lot of us, I know) that supporting Terry's family is priority one. If we've exhausted all avenues to find his next of kin, that's cool, but we should at least decide the direction we want to go with the donation.3 points

Don't even say that! While I like Magix Products, I wouldn't want them to be involved with Cakewalk...3 points

Now, when we add more than one audio file into Cakewalk, lets say for mixing, Cakewalk adds "(i)" as a suffix indicating the number of track. Also, when we Export tracks or stems it is mandatory to enter a name which ends up as the prefix, preceding a "-". And the output will also have a suffix of "-i". It all started with the File names "File 1, File 2, File 3". It would be a good thing to not have these additional characters added while adding or exporting the project. Please make the addition of the name aka prefix optional (incase anyone wants it). Let me know if a change in setting would get what I requested.2 points

Not @Fleer but I really like Lounge Lizard. it has a certain "bark" when you lay into the tines. Pianoteq can sometimes come across as too clean or sparkly, which is alright if that is what you need but the dirt just makes things feel more authentic.2 points

5 years ago this week I decided to try and get into writing instrumental music for TV shows, it's been a big learning curve but I've been a Cakewalk user since the mid 90's I've written around 400 track in that 5yrs - most of those are now in Music Libraries where they can be used by various TV production companies - it's a tough gig , I've had about 50 TV shows use my music now, the money is not amazing but seeing your music on TV is kinda cool. Here is a playlist of a bunch of them2 points

According to the guy who rebuilt mine, SSD failure is much exaggerated and something of an urban myth. True in the early days of SSDs apparently but not these days, provided you stick with reputable brands. I don't know, just glad to have mine back and working again. Andy2 points

I own the Engl Savage 120 and really dig it (gives me a good chance to compensate for my real Savage at home ? ). I also have the others via subscription (testing them for a year and then buying the best with the subscription voucher PA sent me - pretty fair game I think). I like the Friedman (DS-40 more than the BE-100) and the Diezels also the Fuchs Train II. Maybe the Orange (Rockergain) and Mesa though they lack the original appearance as they are not licenced by the Real Amps manufacturers. Those PA Plugins are really enjoyable in my opinion. You get great tones quickly without fiddling around to much. Decent amount of good soonding and verstile Cab and Mic chains, gets you up and running quickly. And the look of the licensed Amps is great not to be underestimated I think. Makes you wanna play them. ?2 points

The short answer is, it depends. Sound is subjective, and to my ears, I can hear the difference if I lower the parameters for high gain targets. The less distorted the sound, the easier it is to train, so for clean or low distortion I might get away with lowering the parameters. But I want it to work as well as it can for any potential sound, so it’s my best guess based on limited testing on the hardware I have available. User feedback on what works and what doesn’t has helped a lot! With the training, you’re trying to minimize loss, which is the difference between the predicted sound and the actual sound, so I can put a number value on the accuracy of the models. I also look at plots of the waveforms to visually see how close the sound is.2 points

Just wondering if anyone else has gotten this Cakewalk by Bandlab DAW thingy? I don't wanna be the first and get stuck with something I didn't pay for! ?2 points

Bite your tongue, man! Nobody wants that. What if Behringer bought Fender? Fiat bought Lexus? Spirit Airlines bought Singapore Airlines? The North Korean government bought Microsoft? Löwenbraü was being brewed in frickin' Texas? Oh, sh*t, that last one's already come true.2 points

Hey! Developer here, thanks for all the feedback and models! High cpu usage is currently the trade-off for the flexibility of copying pedal/amps. There's alot of number crunching behind the scenes that allow for the same model structure to produce a wide range of tones (as opposed to optimizing for one specific sound). From what I've heard from the Quad Cortex, my SmartAmp plugins are not quite there in terms of accuracy to the target hardware, but hoping to improve it. Also, the SmartAmpPro is intended to be used with reverb or IR's, so if you're running it by itself it will sound dry. Here's a model I made from recordings of the Gojira plugin; which definitely gave the capture some difficulty. The result is a pretty good sounding distortion model, but not 1:1 with the Gojira sound. Enjoy! gojira_test_model.json2 points

Those people probably made out a better, since they get to spend that money on better plug-ins and virtual instruments. Half of the Cakewalk stuff was super old and not updated in like a decade. There wasn't really that much value in a lot of that. Whether they see the light of day is only relevant if they are either throwon into the package as freebies or sold for ridiculously low prices. Otherwise, there are better plug-ins to be had on the market; and many SONAR users used those plug-ins. SONAR license holders who paid for a decade or more deserved to have the DAW developed as aggressively back then as it is now, and it honestly wasn't. BandLab has done what most companies that purchase a product and make it a freebie don't... They've actually made it a better, more attractive product. Imagine if Cakewalk was purchased by MAGIX or Corel?2 points

Very similar to Why start another thread about essentially the same subject? You could have added the system details to your original thread. Although, I doubt the additional info would have changed the replies.2 points

Isn’t that strange? PA wrote that all of their Amps would be on $29.99 if I remember right. I will try later.1 point

Unfortunately, most benchmarks, like Passmark, evaluate systems for gaming, which does not line up exactly with DAW work. An i5 at 3.2GHz will jump up to 3.5GHz if you enable processor management in the BIOS (taboo, I know, but it's made my systems deliver the GHz when called upon), and then set your min and max processor speeds to 100% in Windows' power settings. My 3.4GHz Dell is idling at 3.67GHz right now due to me doing this. It's about the only "overclocking" trick you can do with BIOSes like Dell and Lenovo. Cakewalk's engine has gotten less demanding of resources in the past 3 years. I could record and mix a 4-piece rock band on the described system, using my preferred plug-ins. I might want to throw in a $15 used nVidia card in it just to make things look better on the screen. ITB electronic music would be fine as well. Might have to freeze a track or two if you're using CPU-hungry synths, but crank up the buffers while you're mixing and all is well.1 point

Auddict Hexaract Last release (1.1.0) was in 4th quarter of 2018 and it's been at $99 since it's initial release. Doesn't look like Auddict has touched it since then which might not be a good sign based on the heavy hipe surrounding the releases. Very mixed reviews on VI Control forum - apparently has a decent range of presets but major issues when it comes to customizing patches or creating your own. I had looked at it hoping that it would be a good platform/tool to create patches out of my own samples but saw enough comments from others who had had the same idea and ended up giving up out of frustration that I got spooked. Also a thread on KVR saying v1.1.0 has issues in Cakewalk and Cubase https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7299460#p72994601 point

I see normal prices, logged in or out. What kind of sorcery do you use to turn them down?1 point
-
Yes. There's two ways you can go about it: - Right click on the frozen event and select "bounce to clips". This will preserve all changes done to the frozen track whilst freeing your fx rack and pro channel. Downside with that is the FX and PC settings and effects will still be there and will have to be reset manually. - Select the track, go to options and "bounce to tracks." This will create a new audio track with the "print" from the track you bounced. Downside of that is when you have to bounce multiple stereo and mono tracks to a single track. Printing them to is not possible unless they go through a bus first, as new stereo tracks will be created if you set the bounce to stereo and vice versa for mono. Upside of his method is that you created a new track with everything reset and can preserve the source track by archiving it (which mutes it and bypasses all processing), then hide it using the track manager.1 point

Always best to specify the year/month and build of the release (the current release is "2021.01 build 98") rather than referring to "this version". Freezing a track, turns off the PC and bypasses the FX rack. This has always been the case and it has always been possible to turn on the PC and enable the FX rack for additional processing but this practice is pretty dangerous. Accidently thaw the track and post-freeze processing is lost. If a frozen track needs additional processing, a safer way to do this is copy audio from the frozen track and archive the original.1 point

1. SSL Native 2. Analog Obsession BusterSE 3. Slate Digital Buss Compressor FG-Grey 4. Overloud G Compressor 5. Cakewalk PC 6. T-Racks Bus Compressor I've also tried the Native Instruments Vintage Bus Compressor, didn't like it at all. My favorites - BusterSE, and G Comp. SSL Native is great, but rather limited in features. Surprisingly, don't get along with the FG-Grey, and don't much like the IK Bus.1 point
