  2. I have seen a number of excellent tributes, on this forum, to individuals that have recently passed on. This is my tribute to a person that I admire -- U. S. House of Representative John Lewis. From all accounts he was a very kind, compassionate, moral, and dedicated man. The story (in this song) of the relationship between Elwin Wilson and Rep. Lewis is a powerful one that took courage from both men and demonstrated the behaviour that most religions encourage. I posted the song on this forum a few years ago (it is somewhere down the list on my SoundClick site) and this version has the video attached. I hope that you enjoy it. 6. Yeah I came across those and quite a few more on my search, what I recall was more to do with Mixbus, and I remember the end of it all was kinda like a unanimous 'Well there you have it, no need to wonder about that any more' type of thing. But I have spent enough time looking, it could be a discussion inside a discussion inside a discussion. Anyway doesn't really matter, as long as no one falls off and gets hurt . . .

  8. ^^^ Yup. Much bigger deal than file indexing. An even bigger boogeyman is your network interface. Might want to consider shutting that service off if you're having any performance issues. When I was struggling with a potato computer, I wrote a batch file to disable the network before starting up SONAR. Windows just assumes that nothing you could possibly be doing on your computer is more important than getting Microsoft notifications in a timely manner.

  10. I got some spare time during the pandemic and as a result I created a new theme. Continuing with the metal label convention this one is called “Lead”. When compared to my previous themes “Gran Vista” and “Carbon”, this one is flatter and maybe less obtrusive (some would perhaps say more modern). The blue highlights are fetched from my previous themes, while the gradient Control Bar background and buttons have been created from scratch (or actually using a new custom background layer in Photoshop). An overall goal has been to maintain contrast between buttons, text and background. And, of course, to make it look good. One small detail: a feature that I think would work well in most themes is that the Loop, Selection and Punch buttons all have been given a colour accent that corresponds to the same area in Track view, i.e. yellow, green and red respectively. I will add this to the Gran Vista and Carbon themes as well the next time they need to be updated. Download link: I’ve made this theme for my own use, but in case anyone would like to use it you can download it from here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEeduVqWy0FPQFKe0?e=Jp6SkG Release history: For those interested, there's a release history that covers update information about all my themes. Here's a link to the that pdf document: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEdu3To6t7ZeQmmAo

  11. I'd like to the ability to use the "drum notes" view in the Piano Roll without having to set up a drum map. Also the ability to edit the note names and save for future reference. See the way Reaper handles this as an example. I've always found the drum maps in Sonar clunky and way too complicated for my needs.

  14. For your consideration, here is a melodic little number that reflects on the question given in the title. A suggested point to consider is given somewhere near the end. Ya, being a faithful follower of "stay at home" during the bad part of this pandemic (especially here in Florida), I have had too much time to spend thinking. Thinking is always a dangerous time for me. Anyway, it is a bit different for me and being such I hope that you might provide feedback, suggestions, crit's, etc. Thanks and I hope you enjoy it. 15. I have let my hair grow out for the first time in over 10 years. I usually keep it shaved but now it's grown out, very grey and looks infaltable just like this guy! In the not to distant future a dad buys a ROBOT at a discount. The robot interface glitches and slaps the people who lie. (AT DINNER) DAD: Son,How's school? SON: Great! We learned many things. ROBOT slapped SON SON: Ok,I went to the movies. DAD: What did you watch? SON: Toy Story 2 ROBOT slapped SON again SON: Ok, a rated R movie. DAD: I never watched movies like that. ROBOT slapped DAD DAD: Ok, I watched a R rated movie when I was 14 years old. MOM: There, There, stop this argument because he is in puberty stage and HE IS YOUR SON. ROBOT slapped MOM.

  18. Hi, I'd like to update my post as I read some articles by C Anderton about Cakewalk and ReWire technology and I saw I didn't insert Sibelius First correctly at the first time. I guess I tried to insert it as an Instrument Track and also didn't check Suspend audio engine when Cakewalk is not in focus . So I tried again observing the articles' recommendations, and everything is back to normality! ?

  20. I think it might be a losing battle. I only spent $15 last month to get the $50 for this month. Possibly they use the $25 for those that haven’t bought and/or used a voucher for x period of time. OTOH there may be more factors at play.

  22. It is definitely worth logging into your account to check other products you own. I had three that have been updated since May that I was not aware of. I suspect there are other May-July updates that I do not own (mine jumped from either v3.0 to v3.1, or v3.1 to v3.2). Also check the OP if you need to download the new library as well to add the pick/finger library if you did not previously own them. As Jason mentioned above, so be sure to log in while you are looking at things if you already own AS products. The member discount (at the top of the page after logging in) is pretty much in line with the annual holiday sale (possibly better), so I ended up grabbing 3 more instruments while I was in there.

  29. Turn off Always Echo Current MIDI Track and take manual control of input echo. If all you want to do is play both synths using the same data, record one instrument then copy the clip(s) into the other instrument track making sure to link the clips (an option in paste special). Linked clips allow edits to propagate to both tracks. Clips may be unlinked at any time. Streaming samples my reduce the load on the PC. This is configured in the plug-ins that support the feature. It is also a good idea to post separate threads for unrelated topics. Adding multiple topics in a thread does not help other users looking for solutions.

  33. A lot of people dis pentatonics, but every human musical culture on earth independently discovered the pentatonic scale. One of the oldest instruments ever found was a thigh bone of a band drilled out to play a pentatonic scale. The reason is physics and I don't remember exactly the formula, but the sound waves are all divisible to that of the tonic (or something like that) so that they are more or less natural harmonics of the root. I learned that many decades ago, so if someone can correct or elaborate on that it's appreciated. Even bop players like Charlie Parker played predominantly in the pentatonic scale, varying off for tension, and coming back to resolve the tension. The great Motown sax player Junior Walker played only 5 notes, but he knew where and how to play them. You can play for yourself, you can play for other musicians, or you can play for the general public. If you are good enough, you'll get the audience you asked for. I play for the people, the people understand pentatonics, so I play a lot of pentatonics, drift off for tension, and return to resolve the tension. What I play is a cooperation, even a dialog between myself and the audience. And remember, the objective to playing music is to have fun. That's why they call it PLAYing music. Notes

  35. Jeff made reference to that several times in the old forums and discussed it in detail at least once, but I cannot readily find it. This is one of the references he made that calls out the DAWs he used (Logic, ProTools, SONAR, and Studio One). There is also a lengthy thread called "Comparing SONAR to Studio One" that he chimed in a few times on. This topic gets resurrected off and on, along with others.

  37. Yes that would be very nice. Even for a small number of take lanes the process is a pain. Tried copying & pasting take lanes and it doesn't work. Aside for duping the track & removing unwanted takes you can individually shift-click & drag each track lane to an empty area below that last track and it will move that track lane into a newly created audio track. So you'll want your track to be the last one to avoid dragging over multiple tracks and then practice a bit to get the feel for it so you don't screw things up and accidentally lose a take here & there like I did the first time I tried.

  38. This is why I wrote This will work fine unless you need to (re)run some of the Platinum installers. Some of the Platinum installers only run if Platinum is found in the registry. The act of uninstalling and re-installing CbB restores the shared files removed by uninstalling SONAR such as library.db.
