  2. While it's kind of tricky if you don't speak German you can get the digital version of the latest issue of Beat magazine here: https://www.falkemedia-shop.de/sound/beat/beat-05/2020?number= (be sure to pick the digital version) you can pay with Paypal, came to like $2.24 US with all the fees. Then once you download the magazine PDF (use Google Translate to help with the translation of pages so you can figure out how to get the PDF, it's kind of tricky) you can then go to two websites to download the DVD content and to the Beat serial center where you have to answer a question by providing a word on pages in the magazine (again Google Translate is your friend). The serial center will email you the codes and/or passwords you need. You get a link to AAS with a code that lets you choose 2 soundpacks (I am/was missing exactly 2 -- Masala 2 and Tropical Jam which it let me pick). You can also get a IK Multimedia code for T-RackS ONE (which I already had) and some passwords for the files from the DVD content. The DVD content includes the BE versions of Xhun Little One, Geist Lite, Thorn Solo and some Zampler Eternal Drones. Some other demo stuff too. Nothing I cared much about though. Not a bad deal really and unlike in the past you can pay with Paypal and can do it with an all digital download. You just have to figure out the German webpages for registering and accessing. Link to Google Translate: https://translate.google.com/ You can copy and paste text into it to get a translation. For the magazine itself I used the Google Translate app on my phone and it's camera to translate. The serial center is http://www.serialcenter.de and the DVD download URL is http://www.bit.ly/BeatDL173

  7. Nice idea! And probably a nice deal when its finished (and when you have participated) https://8dio.com/2020/04/06/free-home/?utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=85988583&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9ZhafrwGhqDLS2-QM1jbrjFM-QIrzC47v09sDTKuRlTaO4Db5gzF13sN3zRg1eTzcJNty4g625zVobuZ_CU58h9-OZqw&_hsmi=85989140 BR, Peter ________________________________________ FREE Home is our 5th Community Driven Project, a collaboration between the community and 8Dio. With this project, we aim to keep a positive perspective on the current world situation, and we want to hear your perspective through samples using everyday items like musical instruments, synthetic instruments, or obscure objects. Wherever you are in the world, we want you to translate how you are feeling into recordings. The 8Dio team will provide 50% of all the samples in the library, and the community will provide the rest, and everyone that participates in FREE Home will receive the finished library for FREE. All we ask is that you create 5 of the most healing homely sounds you can produce and send them to us! 8Dio will then edit, program, and design the entire library, which you will receive for FREE on once finished! How Does The Collaboration Work? FREE Home will be similar to our other community collaborations, such as Free You, Free Angels, Free Radicals, and Free ASMR. It will feature a range of sounds submitted from the 8Dio community as well as sounds created by the 8Dio team. The sounds will then be curated, packaged, and gifted as a full library to everyone that participated. How Do I Get Involved? Getting involved is easy; all you need to do is follow the guidelines below and record five sounds that encapsulate what you are feeling. Submissions must be sent to contest@8dio.com with the subject: FREE Home Entry – [Full Name] Submissions must include 5 or more sounds from your home. Files must be .wav, 24bit, 48kHz, Stereo or Mono. Include a little backstory for each sound – for example, what inspired you, where and how did you record each sound, how does each sound make you feel? Files should be named in the following format FREEHOME_[CreatorName]_[SoundName].wav If applicable, the Pitch/Key and Tempo of the sound should be included in the filename e.g FREEHOME_JohnSmith_RainGuitar_C_120bpm.wav The recordings can be as short, or as long as you like. We recommend submitting varying lengths and styles of sounds if possible. You can use any post-processing and sound design you would like to truly bring your creations to life. Please feel free to EQ, Process, DeNoise, add Effects etc. as required. While not required, we encourage all participants to video and upload their adventures. If you do, please make sure to tag us and use the following hashtags (#FREEHOME #8Dio), as well as include a link to your video in your e-mail submission. Remember to stay safe. Submission deadline: 05/01/2020

  9. I'm not sure if people are aware of this being available again... I've only just become aware of it myself. @cclarry mentioned the product on the old forum back in 2015: http://forum.cakewalk.com/O-Deus-Audio-releases-ASIO-Link-Pro-v24-m3283843.aspx, however when I tried to purchase it about a year ago, I found that I couldn't because the original developer had sadly passed away... and now the original website has gone. "This ASIO driver extends your audio interface ASIO driver and adds windows audio with no additional latency. It also allows you to use your ASIO driver from more than one application with the inbuilt multi-client support, and you can even send ASIO audio over the network. The driver is great value for money for people who need to monitor or record from windows audio or just want to jam with their favourite tunes. Features: Extremely high performance for Pro Audio apps. Zero added ASIO latency. 64 IN + 64 OUT virtual ASIO channels. 32 IN + 32 OUT WDM audio channels. 16 IN + 16 OUT network audio channels. Multi-client mode means ASIO for up to 25 apps. Works without internal WDM or ASIO audio resampling. Record lossless 8 channel audio to FLAC file. Supports Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. Route audio to/from WDM/MME/DirectSound/WASAPI and LAN/NET." This effectively allows you to use more than one ASIO interface at the same time in CbB (even ones on an external networked PC), allowing up to 64 input/output channels. At the moment I've no idea how this affects latency, but I guess if it's lots of inputs you need then it's likely it's a whole band you're recording and this will be less of a concern. I can also see it being really useful for making tutorial videos. The good news is, it now looks like the developer's nephew has authorised it to be released for free with a patch to remove the registration/authorisation: https://give.academy/posts/2018/03/02/AsioLinkPro/ You can download it here: https://give.academy/downloads/2018/03/03/ODeusASIOLinkPro/

  13. A mask also keeps you from inadvertently touching your own face. People do not realize how ingrained or common this habit is until you start touching a mask. The culture difference between Asia and Western nations is immense. People in Asia wear masks if not feeling well to protect others and let others know. Western culture is to save oneself. NZ's approach was a good one... assume you have the virus and wear a mask now to protect others (and thereby yourself). The use of a coffee filter as the center layer of a cloth mask in the OP is a good one. They do plug fairly quickly from moisture, so an inner layer of cotton might make them usable longer. Anyone who has actually worn masks knows that they plug with moisture fairly quickly under exertion. Even if a cloth mask is only 90% effective, it is better than nothing, and you won't be touching your own face when wearing one. Without a vaccine, this can recur as quickly as it started, so learning to wear masks responsibly and accepting them as no big deal will help everyone. People not wearing them for vanity, or making fun of others is terrible. Going forward, Mother Nature has been dumping these out in rapid succession, and the next could be worse. Even some who lived through SARS blew this one off initially.

Anyone into cool 80's soundtrack synths like from John Carpenter should grab all 4 volumes here for just £24, I would. Synth Magic is the one dev where I would buy kontakt just to use his stuff. His synths are sample based so you're playing with real sounds not modeled sounds. https://vstbuzz.com/deals/60-off-vector-x-bundle-by-synth-magic

  28. Me, it would be just throw it all, unless I knew someone or a couple of people who wanted it, then I would give it to them. To me selling on Ebay or whatever would be just to much of a hassle, especially if you have a lot of separate items, apart from putting it all on line you'd have to go through packaging, shipping etc for every item, and for me the hassle/reward ratio would make it not worth it. Sure it would be good to get it to someone who can make use of it, but you got to weigh up the time and effort you have to put in. YMMV of course.

  33. The Dream Audio Tools guitars are great. Highly recommended, particularly Vol 1 of indie Fingers. FYI, the Alpine Concert Zither is included in World Suite. I mean, the samples for that instrument and many other PrecisionSound libraries are included in World Suite, but they have a different interface. I'm somewhat interested in Ben Osterhouse's "CelloTextures." I think it's the first thing he ever did, or the second. He's come a long way since then.

  34. Thanks Sheens, and pray that you, loved ones, family are safe. Masks definitely help stop some spread from the infected to those not infected. Protection for the not infected public is something we have not worked out yet as far as carved in stone recommendations, but masks make some sense in that logic as long as we don't wallow around in the residue we take home on the mask, courtesy our last trip to Walmart.. Advice always in flux as we try to learn more. Latest and greatest three months from now will not be like it is today. No lawsuit failure of our professionals. We are just learning in a blind sided challenge. Best we can do is best we can do at the time. Social distancing is currently twice what I had to adhere to in a hospital setting when somebody was exploding from some god awful plague. Was 3 feet (barbaric English foot-pound system). 6 "feet" probably okay for COVID even if an overly explosive specimen can shower the area in bliss for nearly 30 feet. Still, wash hands after an outing and don't touch your face before you wash hands. Harder done than said, but you can have the bug crawling all over your skin and likely not get infected. Transfer the bug from hands to mouth, nose, eye membranes, and you may got problems up the road. These are the portals of entry. Plain hard core dish washing soap breaks down the viral encapsulation and kills the bug. Would advise a normal 70 percent isopropal alcohol in a spray bottle to disinfect at home. I know they say 60 percent isopropal, allowing you to dilute the Rite Aid generic brand a bit with water, but don't fork with it. Just use straight out of the bottle. Just because someone has not slobbered all over you, does not mean that her or she has not slobbered all over the produce and even canned goods you are walking out of the store with. Please rinse incoming goods thoroughly, rotgut tap water okay. My opinion only. The bug is causing more fear and economic damage than the bug itself. Not to let our guard down, but there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Given the vast number of mild and asymptomatic cases NOT REPORTED, the bug is guardedly less lethal than the death statistics we read in the morning blog. Not to downplay even one death as a statistic since even one COVID death is a tragedy to some family. We will get through this as a planet and I think come out stronger for the lessons we have learned. All stay well. John

  35. I changed mine, a while ago, from the default 1, to its current 2 - that works wonderfully, and my system is quite stable (haven't crashed in almost 2 years), so I am quite happy to wait for the go-ahead from Noel, before attempting to use the new value of 3 they added. My desktop uses an AMD Ryzen 1950x Threadripper, so has boatloads of cores, and it is quite happy cranking away on the setting of 2. Bob Bone

  37. OK, I spot checked playback from Platinum 2016-12 through current and it works the same. It appears that playback does merge stereo signals to mono, record does not. I have filed a bug report for this. Currently to get playback split takes two sends, one panned hard left and the other panned hard right. This will not merge the channels on playback. Rather than mess with patch points, I would use bounce to trackss) on the original track to create mono tracks or record the two channels as mono tracks from the start.

  41. 186,000 miles per second. It's not just a good idea - It's the law. Every network hop adds n milliseconds as well. Latency isn't the same thing as bandwidth. A "fast" connection may have a ton of bandwidth to serve up 1080p netflix but you dont know how much buffering is happening to feed that stream. it could take 5 seconds to deliver the stream from source and you'd never notice . An extreme case- an old saying Oklahoma is for for data transfer speeds, nothing beats a Ford F-150 with a bed full of hard drives driving through Oklahoma, but latency sucks. Bandwidth is how much you can move - latency is how fast you can get there. a mere 200 milliseconds total latency between two players means SOMEONE will be 1/4 second off. Some people believe that quantum computing will ultimately solve for network latency. And when I was a kid they promised us jetpacks.
