Not here to argue... ? You could choose not to optimize Win2000, Win7, or Win10. Can you still work, yes... Is it optimal? Not in my opinion. By default in Win10; there's a lot of power-management, performance throttling, phoning home to MS, background applications running, scheduled tasks, automatic updates (including notifications), Cortana, OneDrive, etc.4 points

After several hours of troubleshooting and a tip from @Steve Katsikas I managed to reproduce the issue again. Its a bizarre preexisting problem that happens when you seek on the timeline to a late measure. In my testing the app would appear hang for about 5-10 seconds and then vanish silently. I was able to find the root cause and fix it last night. The engine was incorrectly responding to a seek on the timeline and computing a bogus delay compensation value. In Steve's case this could compute a delay of up to 3 hours ? This value would then be used to send a HUGE MIDI buffer the next time playback started causing an overflow and crash. While most users wouldn't necessarily see a crash (since its dependent on the amount of MIDI data) this issue results in way more MIDI data being processed when playback starts at a high measure number. I've sent Steve a build to verify the fix and if all is well we'll be releasing a hotfix with this and a few other issues soon. I'm happy that this issue is fixed since it could have been the cause of many unknown random crashes in the field over the years - the problem has been latent at least since 2006 Fortunately his project was reliably able to reproduce this and allow us to fix it. Thanks for working with us to repro the issue.4 points

very quick update in case anyone is hesitating I'm not a reviewer like Zo, but I know what I like - these are very good. I paid 199 euro and zero buyer remorse.3 points

Not only are they pretty, but they sound fantastic. I'm just digging into V7 collection and amazed at how good they all are. Still, don't know if I'm going to get this FX Collection.....a bit pricey at $199 (which is about what I paid for V7).3 points

Here's the last track I produced in Digital Performer, before returning to Sonar after a year and a half. It's the 4th movement of my 10th symphony that was written for my 14th album. Listen Scored with VSL symphonic cube and several soft synths (Dune, Massive, Z3TA and the Yamaha MODX-6). I hope you enjoy listening. Best, Jerry2 points

Dynamics is a classic compressor, upward compressor, and expander in a single plugin. This allows you to process the quietest part of your sound and the loudest part individually, resulting in either very transparent control of volume, or full domination of your dynamic range. Dynamics is available as a regular plugin (VST/AU/AAX) and as a Snapin to use in any of our host plugins, Phase Plant, Multipass and Snap Heap. Pro tip: It works AMAZINGLY with Multipass for multi-band compression/expansion with whatever twists you want to add! Buy Dynamics for just $14.50 (reg. $29) Dynamics is discounted on our website until the 29th of February.2 points

A fix for this is now available in the hotfix we just released.2 points

It's a great deal & they don't usually put this on sale because of the licensing agreement with Fearn. Plus this is the first time I can recall where you can use your personal discount coupon on it to get more $ off.2 points

Not only, try it on vocal or guitar Essentially on anything what has key frequencies (bad or good to cut or bold) matching this thing. It is really great plug2 points

Unlike most of the East West sales this one includes upgrades (only on their site though). And they are now offering Hollywood Diamond as a download (so you save money on the hard drive and shipping). Was a good enough deal for me to finally upgrade from Hollywood Orchestral Gold to Diamond. It's downloading now, pretty quickly (I have Gigabit FiOS).2 points

playing with it now ....sounding good minor whinge - why not install the pdf manuals locally ? PluginAlliance do this well. If you try to open the manual it sends you to the website - where you have to scroll to find it then open it. anyway back to the eval2 points

I have Epic Babies (the free version), but really haven't used it. So, thought I'll checkout Pulsor to see what it has to offer. Not sure if it's too early in the morning, but the patches all sound very similar to each other with slight variations/fx's. Maybe I just need more coffee and better ears.2 points

Today, MF had a crazy deal on a cheap midi controller that came with some software and a Studio One 4 Pro Upgrade. I didn't care about the controller (and most of the software, save a one year Groove 3 subscription). I attempted to purchase it this morning, and the site gave an error - I "chatted" into the support, and was told that it was a "system" issue, and that it would be fixed in a few hours. They gave me a cart number in case there were issues. I tried to purchase tonight, and received the same error. I chatted into support again, but this time the girl told me that it was out of stock, and there was nothing she could do. I gave her the cart number, but she didn't budge. Obviously, this isn't what they told me this morning. I figured I would just call them instead. I explained the whole thing, and the guy told me that the cart number I was given this morning had no notes on it. It took quite awhile, but he came through for me. They honored the deal (minus the controller, which I didn't want) in the end. I received the Producer Pack (bunch of stuff, but includes the 1 year Groove 3 pass), plus an upgrade to Studio One 4 Pro for a grand total of $109. I feel good!2 points

Issue has been 100% resolved thanks to the dedication of Noel and CW! The issue was pretty complicated apparently, but had to do with midi buffer overflows as Noel explains above. As a lifelong CW user, I could not be happier with the support I received. Steve2 points

I got Seurat when it came out. Very beautiful granular sounds. Great presets. This is a lot less than I paid and you get a lot more. Since I bought it they have added a lot of new snapshots and features. 1.5 added a randomize feature--just click the "Seurat" logo. 1.6 is called "Seurat R" because it allows you to reverse the samples. 1.61 adds 100 snapshots. All these updates have been free for original purchasers. Learning how to program Seurat is a little complicated, but it's easy to just hit the randomize button and get a lot of great results. ? I've had 1.6 for quite a while. This new version is just 1.62 and is just a minor thing -- "fixed some tuning issues." Anybody who is curious should try the free demo on this page.2 points

Tempo view would be nice if the tempo curve like an Automation lane with movable, selectable and tilt-able nodes. like this video. at 5:58. and please make the transform tool available for tempo view. maybe tempo track is a good solution.1 point

Hi - I'd like to request the feature of being able to select and move/slide tempo changes using the Tempo View, etc. As one works on songs/pieces, in some cases, extra measures are added to the composition, and whole sections with tempo changes have to be moved, etc. Thanks for your consideration!1 point

I just thought of this after reading a thread about tempo maps. Feature request to be able to over lay a tempo map on top of a maximized midi ( notes view ) or a single maximized audio track would potentially kick some serious butt. I spend a lot of time viewing the time line back and forth between edit pages trying to align and tweeze a tempo map into appropriate proportion. Again - having a universal horizontal scaling feature between any time line dependent edit page would be very useful.1 point

I never run Cakewalk from Bandlab Assistant (not that I have reason not to, that I know of, I just always launch it from the Cakewalk launch icon. When I installed Cakewalk by Bandlab, from the Bandlab Assistant, it created a desktop launch icon, and I pinned that to the Taskbar. I also happen to run Cakewalk, and actually Bandlab Assistant, with the Run As Administrator option - though I don't believe it is a requirement. Anyways - try launching Cakewalk by Bandlab from its desktop launch icon, rather than from the Bandlab Assistant, and see if that works. Bob Bone1 point

Steve, try making a track template for VA-3 and see if that works also. That way you can just insert the track template as desired. Kind regards, tecknot1 point

Our new library has been available on our website for a few days already, but we were waiting to put the final touches on the website and videos to officially introduce it to the world, so here it is. THE MODERN U Modern times call for a modern virtual piano: Highly detailed and intimate, clean and crisp, a new piano sampled with the finest gear in a modern space, able to shine or blend in as desired. Precision response using any controller, plus sophisticated controls and presets with tweakability rarely seen in a virtual piano. High res graphics, deep sampling and scripting but easy on the system. We're happy to introduce the Modern U, sampled from a brand new popular studio upright piano with a modern approach. 6 mics, real resonances, Sordino pedal, many presets included, and many more features make for the ultimate studio upright library. COMPLETE VIRTUAL PIANO STUDIO Six discrete phase-aligned fully mixable microphones with interactive mic display. Modern mics and gear with diverse perspectives cover every way of recording an upright front and back, close and far. REAL SYMPATHETIC RESONANCE Real deeply sampled resonance for both pedal down and sympathetic resonance types. Powerful scripting recreates real pedal resonance behavior adding complex depth and sustain to the tone, all fully adustable. HIGHLY DETAILED INSTRUMENT Over 23,000 samples composing 55GB of wave data in a small 6GB file. Huge library, small footprint thanks to lossless compression and complex scripting. This also means fast loading and efficient CPU usage. COMPLETE PEDAL CONTROL Complete control of up to 5 pedals including our new Sordino pedal. Repedal and adjustable Half pedal features included. Sostenuto, Soft pedal, plus Muted Strikes and Sordino all make for a highly expressive piano. ADVANCED MIDI RESPONSE TOOLS New MIDI panel with unique split controls for both timbre and volume. High resolution discrete tables and controls allow custom curves for any response imaginable. Many presets included, or create your own. DETAILED RELEASE TRAILS 1,400 release samples per mic including staccato releases that respond to the quickest playing, no articulations needed. Release samples capture the resonant ring of the upright piano and are crucial for realism. There are more features that you can learn about on our website or in the detailed overview video below. The Modern U is available now at our website https://www.vilabsaudio.com/modernu1 point

The only real pain is installing both plugins on each track - if you're looking for the pairing. BTW both Precedence & Breeze are excellent individual apps.1 point

Hi Steve, I am wondering if you were to make a project template based on one of your earlier projects in which VA-3 is working, would it load correctly? If it works then at least you have a workaround until this issue is resolved. Kind regards, tecknot1 point

Hi yep ,I loved the intro guitar riff it just set up the whole tone for the song, and the vocals (Ray Davies)were also good just the whole feel from the song ..nice one1 point

So it's not about jaw pain? Massively creative mix. Unconventional, angular chords and lyrics that slide around, start and stop, quite nicely. The mixing curveballs on the vocals kept it all flowing. I'd say it evokes a certain Wang Chung vibe in spots. As in, "What the hell ever happened to Wang Chung?!?" That Wang Chung. Thanks for the peppy number and the mix was a treat for the ears. My only crit might be the ending, which just cuts off more or less, but hey it knida works. I was expecting a bit more somethingerother on the end there.1 point

or C- created a project without a master bus. This happens when a user starts a project without using a factory supplied project template or their own template where they failed to add a master bus.1 point

Those are your hardware (soundcard/USB) Buses. You might have either... A- Accidentally deleted the bus. B- The bus may be hidden (go to Console View, Strips-> Track Manager).1 point

I've never really considered myself either a Composer of a Producer....just a Songwriter. I have had to learn to do both Composing and Production to get my songs out. So far, I think I'm doing OK. Honestly, I don't care much for definitions either, as there always seems to be exceptions. End results have always been more concerning to me.1 point
