  1. I've found (at least a temporary) cure for gas. I recently picked up a new midi interface (a MioXL, replacing my old Motu), which resulted in a needed planned re-cabling/reracking of all my hardware. After that was complete, I figured I should look at the DAW computer. I thought what the heck, I'll just rebuild that as well....from scratch. Wiped the hard drive, installed the latest Windows 10, Cubase, etc. It took days of work to reinstall/reauthorize/reconfigure all the VSTs, Kontakt libraries, etc. What a total pain. And a clear fix for GAS! (Now how long is that Ethera sale on?!?!?!?!?)

  2. Well, after listening to all the great songs and musicians on this forum I feel kind of stupid posting my song about Beanie Weenies. Emeraldsoul Tom posted a song a while ago about mixing up a batch of... something. Forgot what it was but it was funny and I decided to write something along the same lines. I tried playing the guitar part live but I kept messing it up so I used OTS Stratosphere. I've never eaten Beanie Weenies but I like the name so I went for it. I still haven't eaten Beanie Weenies even after making up a potful in the video. My wife tossed it out because it wasn't all that great.

  3. BTW I am away from today visiting family over Christmas so won't be around to update this thread. Hopefully Larry or someone will update it though for the final three deals (although my first post should still be pretty close). I will still keep an eye out for any last minute deals on my phone Happy Christmas to all!

  5. 2019.12 Early Access installer now available! We're pleased to announce the Early Access for 2019.12, which is a stability update in keeping with our goal of making Cakewalk as reliable and enjoyable as possible. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2019.12 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2019.11. Download Cakewalk 2019.12 EA installer If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers 2019.12 Highlights Behavior changes & optimizations Improved audio resampling quality in WASAPI Shared mode. The default MIDI Prepare Buffer size has been changed to 200 msec. Limitations preventing the MIDI buffer from being set lower have been removed. There should be no need to change the buffer size from the new default value anymore, since the engine automatically raises the internal size when necessary. On first launch, Cakewalk will reset the MIDI buffer size to the new default value of 200 msec (Preferences > MIDI - Playback and Recording > Prepare Using n Millisecond Buffers). Bug fixes Opening Cakewalk in WASAPI Shared mode stops audio in other apps that share the audio device(s). Potential crash when changing audio configuration settings (Preferences > Audio - Configuration File) during playback in ASIO driver mode. Deleting data clears the selection. In rare cases, Input Echo could not be disabled in Instrument tracks. Reassigning a synth output track's Input control to None no longer disables the Input Echo control. When doing a real time export of a project (Fast Bounce disabled), the project no longer scrolls. Now time in musical time (H:M:S:F or any time based format) doesn't update to reflect new time when changing tempo. PreSonus Studio 192 crashes when changing buffer size. Playback distortion at certain buffer sizes with some ASIO drivers after 2019.11 update.

  6. Guys, this is a no brainer. Was supposed to crash and burn on the 20th Dec, but extended to Jan 1. Too many beers yesterday to get in a late post that there were only hours, maybe minutes left til the Dec 20 deadline... So many good things in the package, and software in the development stage that will be added to the personal GB link as they are developed through the next year. Me for one looking forward to the vst ARP machine. Check this out... http://wwww.wusik.com/w/index.php/purchase/Group-Buy-2019-c38233004 And happy holidays to all. John

  12. I noticed today the upgrade to Orchestra Complete is $77.61 on Kontakt Hub. Assuming they're trustworthy, that's the best price I've seen.

  13. I recommend checking out Brian Eno's OBLIQUE STRATEGIES quotes... Originally released as a deck of cards with 500 quotes, these have grown and been updated. I've put them into a text file that you can conveniently use to replace the stock built in ones in Cakewalk. (We added affirmations to the startup toast notifications last year) To check these out, simply copy the attached ProjectOpenNotification.txt file to this folder: %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core Just type that path into the Windows search bar and it should take you to that folder. Then save the attached text file to that folder. This will override the default built in notifications. You should get a sometimes cryptic but always thoughtful random oblique quote the next time you open a project file. (assuming that you have notifications enabled in preferences | customization | display) You can even add your own quotes to that list or make up your own list of creativity tips. I've had these on for a long time now and they never fail to entertain or inspire. YMMV PS: The original Oblique Strategies deck is still available from Brian's website. ProjectOpenNotification.txt

  18. Actually, I did read the post fairly thoroughly, and your suggested changes to PRV tools are exactly what I was referring to. I don't have the time and patience to respond to everything at once, especially knowing that I might have misunderstood some of them, but here are a few quick examples: Screensets, Workspaces and the Multidock have already been mentioned as solutions to getting persistent and desired window layouts, and will also likely account for Control Bar and Autozoom persistence issues. As you may know, holding Ctrl while changing a control in one of two or more selected tracks change all of them; this is Quick Grouping. It works with I/O assignments as well. That should already be happening. Make a separate post to troubleshoot. Cakewalk deliberately differentiates between selection (the source of a copy), and focus (the target of a copy). This facilitates all kinds of track-to-track and lane-to-lane editing that wouldn't be possible if clicking in a lane moved both selection and focus. What might work would be to have clicking in an empty part of a lane move just the focus there, but the possible consequences to other workflows would need to be considered.

  19. Thanks, man! I didn't know that, and it's actually really useful information. I'm probably gonna have them docked in every project from now on. I'll still leave that suggestion there, though, because it would make dragging and dropping easier than having to flip through windows back and forth, on the dock bar, for every intervention. And it could be achieved very easily, with just adding the double arrow button just above the up arrow of the side slider, which is also its natural position in the Track View. Happy holidays!

  20. Indeed, Mr. P, hence my efforts to call attention to it. In this case, it would surprise me if that text had been touched in 20 years and it wouldn't surprise me if it hadn't been touched since 1997. Modems? AOL clients? Hercules cards? IRQ's? It isn't that this stuff belongs to the previous decade, it literally belongs to the previous century. There should be an admonishment somewhere in there to make sure to keep backup tapes of your data. "Someday, perhaps if the United States begins to openly trade with Communist China, we will see the cost of the large diaphragm condenser microphone fall below $1000, at which point even project studios will be able to afford one or maybe even a matched pair. What a fine day for computer recording that shall be!"

  22. Not at all related. The user has the same issue in the 09 release and had some system config changes. Its a new PC. Will have to trouble shoot further before drawing any conclusions. As can be seen in his screenshot the drivers are listed. He gets silence on playback.

  23. I see your point re orchestral stuff, The RD2000 has the best of both worlds...... I have occasionally tried to justify buying one to myself but the unfortunate truth is that it's OTT for what I need. I always figured that their d-beam controller would be good for stuff like that too but I've never tried it.

  33. What I see huge value in is the Axe Pack - with this Winter discount - as it contains Axiom, Re-Guitar, Late Replies, and Patchwork all in one go. Each one of them have great points. Axiom, Late Replies, and Patchwork all have that special capability of being able to bring together non Blue Cat tools and plugins so that you can capture a combined sound from different vendors that can be easily recalled as a preset. Axiom and Late Replies are already loaded with great features and presets of their own. So many tools can be assembled and layered together. I've been using it in demo mode and have been really impressed. And it's intuitive.

  35. About a year ago I spent 5 weeks in Australia. From Brisbane up to Point Trib, over to Darwin, down the Stewart highway to Kangaroo Island, and around the bottom hitting cities and parks along the way, and eventually ending in Sydney. I found the Australians some of the friendlies and most civilized people on the planet, and I've been all over the world. They were cheerful, ready to talk, and extremely courteous. Whether they were city folk or the roughest out-back personalities, there was a gentleness, cheerfulness, and friendliness to them. In 5 weeks I didn't meet one sourpuss. Quite the contrary, I was always delighted by the people. I saw platypus, cassowary, koala, kangaroo, wallaby, kookaburra, emu, frog mouths, rock art, symphony concert, giant termite mounds, and hundreds of other things I've never seen before, which was exciting, but the best part about the trip was the Australian people. Thanks to all who live down under. If it weren't for the climate crisis, the lack of water, and the fact that I don't have enough money to be admitted, I'd move there. Bob

  38. nice guitar playing and singing. I as well would like to hear another snare than the main one, (even though the snare hits right before the tom fills seem "normal" less thin). The chorus and your performance are really catchy and growing on me. Nice...

  39. If you're using the Smart Tool, you can CTRL Click to adjust the gain envelope for that clip. The ProChannel has always had the option to save/load presets. You can use CTRL + Shift to do this in the PRV now.

  41. Rex I'm more of a melody, lyrics and composition kind of a guy so most of my comments lean in that direction. I have a hard time pinpointing things like how something should be EQ'd for example. Anyway I really like this song because the melody is so so good as are the lyrics. Not sure what it is though but the vocal just needs .. something. Bit more reverb maybe? Well, I know that doesn't help much but that's how it came across to me. So just an opinion here from one listener who likes your music and wishes you the success you deserve.

  42. For me no drum beat then I'd slowly build up the pad ( crescendo ) to 1.24 and then use the trip intro drum to accentuate your chorus to the beat .. also the snare feels a little high ... but all good really and works better for my old ears ... ALB Steve

  44. There is 'Acon Digital Multiply' and 'Duet' of Martin Eastwood (32-bit only), both free. But I think you can also use any vocal doubler like iZotope's Vocal Doubler (free). The 3rd possibility is to create 2 tracks with your guitar clip and change it in any way (different pan/delay/eq/compression/...).

  45. Nice song Rex and well sung. Guitar mix was very clear. I found the drums to be a little on the flat side. well done.
