T Boog
I have a project that when I open in Sonar I usually get a loud pop when loading it followed by no sound. The meters move but there's no sound. I have to keep reopening the project a few times to get it to work. Yet the project always works perfectly in CbB. Is there any way I can fix this? Promidi
What are the things you have checked so far?
Bristol_Jonesey
The loud pop sounds like your audio engine borking out What plugins are you using? Try bypassing them all, save & reopen. If that cures it, enable them all one at a time until you find the culprit

Ever since I installed free Sonar, it's given me little clicking & popping issues when I click on tracks during playback and the UI slightly blinks when it's doing certain tasks. None this happens in CbB. But I find Sonar got worse when I did a recent Windows update. Yet CbB still worked perfectly. So I decided to restore my PC to before the update but it's still having the audio dropout issue on my project. But again, works perfectly in CbB. Btw, I used to have this same issue with CbB a couple years ago but with one of their updates, things started working perfectly. Then along came a windows update that started causing problems so I restored my computer to a previous date and disabled windows updates. And I enjoyed 9 months of bliss. Now with free Sonar I feel like I'm right back where I was a couple years ago. Anyway, I'm not real computer savvy. I'm hoping you guys might point me in the right direction. Just a thiught... I didn't re-enable windows updates until after I downloaded the new Sonar. Could this have caused the problem? Should I uninstall Sonar and do the lastest windows updates before reinstalling Sonar? Noel Borthwick
This is unlikely to be related to updates or installation. One of your plugins is misbehaving. If disabling all plugins from the main toolbar restores audio then its one of the plugins. Also try turning off 64-bit double precision in the audio settings if it's enabled, in case one of the plugins has a problem with it. 1
T Boog
Thanks guys. I THINK I found the culprit... the VX-64. I turned if off on my main vocal track and I've reopened the project a few times and the pop & audio dropout hasn't happened again. I would say, "I think I'm out of the woods now" but that would be one big jinx now wouldn't it? 😁
Noel Borthwick
Not surprising. thats a very old plugin and it was known to have some problems esp with 64 bit processing. Its also possible that the plugin internal state was corrupted in a preset. Changing the preset and editing the settings may resolve the issue. 1
