Colin Nicholls
I'm clutching at straws here but could there be a hidden file test.wav that is forcing the underscore? I mean, i would have expected test (2).wav or similar rather than an underscore but... ?!? I didn't see anything immediately obvious in the video, thanks for sharing that. Colin Nicholls
Also... bear with me here... what if you try to export as "test_.wav" - do you get test__.wav ? what if you attempt to export to a filename without a file extension?

pingcat
No hidden files. No Matter what file name I specify, an underscore is added. test_.wav becomes test__.wav test becomes test_.wav I tried as Admin and still get underscored. All tests work with no underscore in Cakewalk by Bandlab.
msmcleod
I can now repro. The key to the repro is to have more than one audio source when doing an Entire Mix export, e.g.: 1. Load any project 2. Add an empty audio track routed to a different hardware output 3. Export using a filename of test.wav Result: file is exported as test_.wav We'll investigate this further. If you've only got one hardware output in the list, you won't get this underscore. The Entire Mix category is really special case of category "Hardware Outputs" for simple cases (i.e. one audio output). If you've got more than one hardware output, it might be better to use "Hardware Outputs" and uncheck the one you don't want to export. 2
sjoens
Like if the same interface has multiple outputs: MOTU 1&2 and MOTU 3&4, etc.?
Noel Borthwick
He's referring to the project itself routing to multiple hardware outputs. If you export everyone's mic in that scenario you are summing all the outputs which is likely something you did not intend to do. For example if you had a headphone output and main out, both with be summed leading to doubling the output.
pingcat
msmcleod, Yes! Figured this out today as well. I had some projects that added underscores and some that did not. Comparing the export dialogs showed the additional "None" as a second source for projects that did the underscore. I couldn't uncheck it, but a search through all the tracks found one with None for output. Once I assigned the track to an actual destination all worked correctly at export. I had the track set to None as a way to silence the track but still use the sends. Works in Cakewalk by Bandlab.

Can confirm I too have more than one source selected on export
