Noel Borthwick
The free version is the same application as the paid version so will receive all fixes that premium tier gets. This is one of the major reasons why we are unifying it to a single application. However any new major non core features or plugins will be exclusive to premium.

I exported CbB colors and imported them into Sonar. There was no change. And the preferences/colors doesn't work at all. i turned in a bug report on this one. In fact, the Color Schemes can't be edited like we have in CbB and Platinum. Someone, I think he was from Cakewalk said it's new UI that presently can't be edited like our old Theme Editor. Possibly we can do that in the future, I hope. This is not for esthetic reasons, it's for my workflow, so I can quickly visually find things. I can't answer for anyone else, but as for as my visual needs, it would very helpful to see color control for track names (text and background) returned, as well as for the kinds of plug-ins in Browser lists, to name just a couple. (See examples below.) Just curious, why are you asking? Edited 18 hours ago by User 905133 edits

Here are screenshots of the exact same song. I tried all the new Color Schemes and Mercury was the closest. Cakewalk in the past did a super job with the way the interface looked. With CbB and Platinum, I used a Logic Theme and did a lot of tweaking to get it the way I wanted it. I hope they'll give us some tools to tweak their Color Schemes, we can then trade them like we did in the past. There were about 30 or more user-edited Themes I could choose from years ago. The Cakewalk site seems to have undergone a nice refresh recently too, and now has a nice FAQ about the Free Tier and other related subjects. At this point, if you want a definitive list of what is excluded from the Free Tier, you install it and look around for the "Premium" crown icon.
