Maybe they should have an "enterprise" distro. MS is for corporations 1st and home users are somewhere down the line. These always have the smell of the pro Linux. Rare to see anti Apple but always against MS. I'm still using this home built PC from 2010. My iPad from 2010 is not as useful/ I'm not sure charities take desktops and laptops anymore. Most laptops have inferior batteries to anything Apple. We live in a time where the average person is using Android or Apple. There's always the "you're not protected crowd". Isn't that always the risk anytime you boot anything up?
bitman
As if PCs were plain useless without those precious security updates that never kept Jerry from getting malware or worse. Viva la Windows 7 and ok, 10.

I recently saw somewhere that they are not backing down on the new hardware requirements, but you can keep it running past EOL by paying MS to keep the security side of it updated so you dont get hacked. No more bug fixes or new features, but you can pay to keep the security side of it up to date. I saw it mentioned in a pc builders youtube video I was watching and I've never heard of that before. So, I don't know if it's true.

pwalpwal
bear in mind these stats include all device types, so android leads the way on phones, windows on desktop, both by quite some margin over apple equivalents https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share
Mr No Name
"It seems even more unlikely that those 58.7 percent will be paying $61 per year for Microsoft’s Extended Security Update program, which will bring continued patches to Windows 10 PCs after October 2025." there you go. they can extend it but you must pay. fwiw, windows defender (security updates) can be replaced with any 3rd party security program, also people forget microsoft themselves are the number one hackers of your computer. the code changes that software and websites continually change will render the OS obsolete long before security updates. i.e "this software is not compatible with windows 10", developers are not going to do that for many years. they would be foolish to. Candy Crush and Angry Bird players would beg to differ either you. 😁 Android is an open source operating system. You can even customize your cell. Apps such as banking require certain security programs running and they will not work if you do though. I work on point of sales systems. Those touchscreen machines they use in restaurants and bars and retail stores. All the ones we sell and service run on Android.
