CBB Activation forcing me to connect to Facebook

James Cartwright

Recommended Posts

I've just been trying to activate my CBB instance, and after I successfully log in it's trying to force me to connect to my facebook account, which I'm not going to do for what should be obvious reasons in 2025. I'd be happy to do 2FA using an auth app or something, but I'm not going to connect my account to FB.

All I want to do is activate, but I can't get past this FB thing.

Are other people getting this or is it just me?

I just had to reactivate CbB a couple hours ago and it gave me the same prompt but with my Google account. I dont have a faebook account. So I just signed in with Google.

I didnt realize it was so risky. Are the hackers coming for me now? 🫣

the "security" of the cakewalk daw has nothing to do with google or facebook,

who is going to hack into someone elses daw?

Ridiculous nonsense. They'll be sending people around to peep through your letterbox by next week.

I went in today an instead of FB, it just emailed a 2FA code to my email address, which is fine / how it should have been from the beginning.

I emailed them a help request before I posted here, so I'm not sure if it's changed for just my account or for everyone, so I guess if it's still happening for anyone else, raise a support ticket?

Cheers

It most certainly doesn't force you to sign in via Facebook. The sign in process is identical for Sonar as well as Cbb or even the Bandlab web for that matter.
It prompts you to sign in a very industry standard SSO (single sign on) page where you can sign in using whatever mechanism you chose when you created your BandLab account. This is what I see.

You can use your username and password (assuming you create your account that way) or you can use Google, Facebook, Apple, or  potentially SMS to sign in.

No it didn't force me to sign in via FB, *after* I signed in is when I got the screen below with no options to change the 2fa method:

Either way, after my support call I now get 2fa codes to my email.

As a test, I signed out of BL and then signed in.

The sign in page still asked for my Bandlab credentials as it normally does.

This only difference this time is a 2FA challenge (which I am OK with).

I proceeded and I was back in.

Which support did you contact?  I'm having the same problem except my email is on another "C" drive in my computer, (I use two "C" drives.  1 for business, emails etc and 1 for music).  So obviously I can't use the 2FA which emails.  Can this be changed to a phone call?

TIA

This is getting pretty ridiculous. I've had to do 2FA every time I've started Sonar today. Sure, I have to do 2FA to gain access to quite a lot of sites these days, but that's mostly when I'm out travelling and start using a different IP address. Also, I have absolutely no problem with 2FA when it comes to things like banking or card purchases. But every time I start an effing DAW?

C'mon.

Hi, I just submitted a request here: https://help.bandlab.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

They turned it around pretty quick considering I'm on New Zealand time

Are you saying that every time you open Sonar you have to sign in with BL?

It was like that two days ago. But I tested again right now, and if I enter the 2FA code when first starting Sonar and then exit Sonar, I am indeed able to start Sonar a second time without being asked to log on and go through 2FA yet again. I guess something has been changed on the server since Monday, because I haven’t changed anything on my side. So, hopefully this change of behaviour will last. The constant 2FA nagging two days ago made me seriously start considering my alternatives.
