EDIT:  Redid guitar recording, and all of the mix.  Please have a listen and critique the current mix.  Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone.  I haven't been here in years.  I was focusing on playing in bar bands for the last decade.  Now I've decided to start recording again.  Please critique my mix.  All instruments and mix by me.  Amazing vocals by my good friend/song writing buddy Joey Perez.

Hi

I had a listen and like the track - I don't know if this was the set up I was listening on, but there seemed a lot of popping on both channels of the lead guitar - and it is a very loud mix

As I said, good track and if those pops are not there, must be me, my apologies!

Cheers

Nigel

Agree with Nigel, it's a good song, reminds me a bit of old Trower. The recording though does not sound so good, loud for one. The bass and drums have no punch to them, the kick and bass should be working together. It sounds like things may have been recorded with the levels too high perhaps causing some distortion.

I want to thank everyone for listening and responding.  I'm going to step back and re-evaluate the mix.  I'm working with unfamiliar monitors and it is throwing me off.  I'll post an update after I mess with it for a while.

Just listening to the new version, didnt hear the first one. As far as critiquing the mix, I wasn’t hearing the bass too well, I think it would sound better with the drums and bass a bit more up in the mix, and if the guitars were not so far left and right as Paul mentioned. I think the guitar intro is a little muddy and the reverb (?) is too much, sounds like a different space from the drums with it. I don’t think the guitar sounds like that anywhere else that noticeably. Good song, I like the vocals and backing vocals, and the mood of the song and the singer and guitar parts. Overall very well done, just my suggestions for a few tweaks.
