bitflipper Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 What does Fender's marketing department know that we don't? Are there legions of little girls dreaming of becoming guitarists? If true, that would be a very positive thing. 1 1
craigb Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 At least those guitars look better than those fake well used ones! 1
57Gregy Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I hear Hello Kitty is big in the Death Metal circles.
mettelus Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Without bringing new musicians into the fold, the future instrument market is going to dwindle quickly. There has been a push for bringing women into STEM for years (different reason), so maybe someone from there bumped heads with Fender's marketing department. Younger folks seem to be more glued to cell phones than naught, so that could be an uphill battle anyway. Who needs to learn an instrument when you can create music on BandLab without one?

They prob think little girls will want it cause it's cute & trendy. I'm sure like all kids, little girls wish they could play but I'm guessing 95% of those guitars will end up buried in the closet. No skin off Fender's back, they still made the sale 🤑
jackson white Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 ya could be something, for a tik tok second maybe... picking up something @GC yesterday and overheard a sales clerk noting he had rung up 4 that day, and still wasn't in the lead for most sold. ?!! apparently AI hasn't taken over everything yet. in other news, "I'm guessing 95% of those guitars plugins will end up buried in the closet a folder." 1
Rain Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) I know a lot of adult women who are into the Hello Kitty stuff. Actually, I've always thought they were the demographic HK was marketing to. But I'm really out of touch. The good thing is that Fender won't even have to worry about selling those, anyway - gear manufacturers go out of their way to endorse ladies, regardless of their talent (or lack thereof). Forgive my cynicism, here... Not that there aren't some great, young female guitarists - Gretchen Menn comes to mind, and I know a few here on the local scene too. Japan has a lot of metal girl bands too. Usually quite "kawaii" too. Edited November 16, 2024 by Rain
paulo Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I can't wait to see the meltdown when they announce the new updated UI for the thing that shall not be mentioned..... Coming soon...... Hello Studio Kitty. 3
