Melodyne 5 essentials , blobs not consistantly showing up using region effect

I recently got an update from Melodyne Essentials 4 to 5 . The first few times I used it everything worked as expected. I'm doing short sections (8 bars max) as a region effect. The blobs aren't drawn until I hit play. Sometimes I have to do it several times or get out then back in the screen. Ocassionally they are present as soon as I expand the screen.

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this ?  All of my other waveforms draw correctly when opening a project or bouncing clips.    Thanks ..

@Max Arwood , I just went into my project and did some tests. Yes it is a timeline issue. I went to bar 38 on a mandolin track. I cut about a bar of the track. Put my timeline exactly on the first clip cut. Highlited the clip and used region effect melodyne. The Melodyne screen opened up and I double clicked it to get it full screen. My timeline then jumped back to bar 1 (the beginning of the song) . I then scrolled to bar 38 and the blobs were there.

This is intermittent. I hit "undo" , closed Cakewalk and repeated it several times turning off FX , puttting my timeline off by a few bars etc..  Sometimes the timeline stays where it's supposed to and every thing works as it should. I'd say 75% of the time it doesn't.  I'm still at a loss but at least now I know to look at the timeline on the Melodyne screen. There was acouple of times it wouldn't let me scroll forward past bar 14 ??

I'm "almost" done with this project , hopefully I can get it finished without further problems. I have not checked this problem out yet in a different project.

Thanks ..   mark

Yes I often have no blobs in melodyne. Then I close it and reopen it blobs are there. I think it’s been brought up before on the forum.

When you see this, click on the clip in the Cakewalk track window and the blobs will appear in the Melodyne window. I think Noel explained why it does this in the long distance past in another galaxy ... not our own ... but it's normal ... for some reason ...ish.

Thanks Terry, I thought it was discussed on here before and I will remember to try your solution. I often set a loop in the cakewalk timeline where I want melodyne to focus when it opens and believe even when I am in the right place in the timeline the blobs are sometimes missing.

@treesha , I've been concentrating so hard to find the blobs , I never looked up to the top of the Melodyne page to actually see where It is on the timeline. This still doesn't explain why the notes instantly show up when I hit "play" on occasion. I had also not seen this in Melodyne 4.     mark

PS.     Hope you are doing well , been waiting for a new song from you ..

Try turning on the option for clips following selection. I posted a screenshot here.

(The screenshot link didn't follow the paste )  I also read that clicking the orange Blob icon while in the Melodyne screen helps if the "clips follow selection" is set.          mark

I just watched a good video that mentioned the clips follow selection setting so engaged it. Always more to learn with this amazing beast of a program. Yeah I cant explain the times its ok from when its not blobbing. PS. Thanks for your PS. I had the hottest most unbearable late spring - summer plus (it actually just started to be winter now all of a sudden) so it was difficult to work on music with air conditioners and fans blasting month after month. I have a few songs done and will post very soon, but during this record breaking heat time I didnt feel like I could listen well to other peoples work on the song forum and thats part of what I like to do there. Took the time to learn some stuff, made my first song video (named Vertigogo), couldnt sing, just rough times!

In the Melodyne window, there is an Options->Follow Selection in DAW. Right below that is also a "Zoom to Selection in DAW" which basically fits the region into the Melodyne window (if desired). I thought that "Follow Selection in DAW" was the default, but may be mistaken there.

Quick Edit: That option only shows in the Options if Melodyne is launched from a Region FX, it does not appear in Melodyne running in stand-alone mode. I am not sure what menu items are different between versions, but "assume" that one would be there for them all.

What he said (mettelus). I have studio so I don't know about what the essentials options are. For me the options is top left with those choices in there. Funny today I was using it a lot with both those checked and more often than not melodyne did not open at/zoom at  my cakewalk timeline selection. I had to play find the blobs. Still I love this program and dealing with its quirks doesn't change that ha. Hope you can find these in your options and see if they help.

That is weird to me. This is an ARA handshake between the DAW and Melodyne. I am still running an old version of CbB and that options setting locks the Melodyne window for me (i.e., it doesn't scroll if you play passed/before the clip). I am wondering if there is a limit to clip duration (if too long to fit) in play with that. The bakers may need to chime in to clarify the detail of that ARA handshake.
