Hi folks

Here's a new one that a woman called Patty Lakamp wrote the lyrics, I wrote and recorded the music for and the current Mrs Daryl1968 and I sang.

nits and crits welcome

Lyrics are below the link

Online
Lyrics by Patty Lakamp ©
Music written and performed by Staypress with Elizabeth Greenway
V1
He: I go online to meet my Valentine and we hit it out of the park
She: We feel the heat, so why don't we meet and see if there’s really a spark
Prechorus
Your simple text about what to do next
Has my stomach tied up in knots
I thought I was ready, but I feel unsteady and I’m having second thoughts
Chorus:
Online
He: I’m a little bit taller
Online
She: My waist is smaller
Online
He: My abs are flatter
Online
She: My thighs don’t matter
Online
Both: You think I’m ideal
But will you still love me when we meet for real?
V2
He: If you want to try it, I’ll go on a diet so you won’t see me at my worst
She: Can we postpone? I’ll apply for a loan so I can get a facelift first
PrechorusChorus
Bridge:
He: I might have exaggerated minor details
She: It’s possible I stretched the truth
He: Perhaps I understated where I tip the scales
She: I may have misstated my youth
He: I’m sure you and I could be the perfect couple
She: I bet we’d make a helluva team
He: If we meet in real life it could burst our bubble
Both: But online, we’re living the dream
Chorus

Absolutely love the lyrics. Wonderful word play and rhythm and great story. "Will you still love me when we meet for real."  ?
Mrs Daryl's voice could be raised a bit in volume but that's about all I can nitpick. Great stuff.

Thanks Bjorn. I think I agree with you.

Great lyrics and really a great music/arrangement complement the lyrics wonderfully.  The performances by the Mrs. and you are absoflippinlutely an aural treat in listening.  This song has your signature and it is always a pleasure to hear your song.  Keep 'em coming.

The words and music make for a really cute tune.  The Mrs has a great voice and really compliments your style.  You should use her more often.

That's kind of the reality of relationships that begin online.

BTW-Love that puppy!❤️

Thanks John - yes, he is cute isn't he?

Wow that song  was fantastic on so many levels .

Super clever lyrics that mock today's online dating practices due to the social media  influence .

I Loved the synths , they sound so grounded and Retro Modular ...

You and your wife's singing and vocals drew me in closer as the song went on because I wanted to hear more about the shedding of the multi layers of lies and  half truths people use all the time online to capture and ensnare   ...

Daryl , you and your wife are indeed a rare talent  . I'm glad I have gotten the opportunity to have listened to some of your music .

Great subject matter. If only we could be our online selves.....As I have come to expect from you  this is yet another pristine mix. Tell me if I'm wrong about your mixes ( I probably am) It sounds as if you are making some deep cuts in EQ to get such clarity in the mix. I feel as if I'm in a huge room with only a few items in it when I listen to a mix you've made. I have often almost envied you for that :P.

I like this approach and it works very well with you and the missus here.

I know I commented on SC but I just wanted to say after a lot of listens to this I think overall it's a brilliant bit of wordsmithing and mixing ... send it to the BBC they might have a sitcom that needs this for a intro roll ...  10 out'a 10 from me though ( for wot it's worth )? ?

Yes, if you just focus on the vocals, a lot of low cut is going on I think. Daryl really knows his eq and routing. Always a masterclass to listen to!
