Last time I had a back stage pass I ended up lugging guitars and keyboards  and helping the stage crew set up. By the time I got to the green room the food was all gone!! 

I guess if you purchase this it will get rid of the nag screen which for me after 30 minutes kept returning every 3 minutes.

Yes, I did that (actually the “3 days free”, but that commits you to the monthly $15 if you don’t cancel) If the BandLab “backstage pass” is the price of admission, that’s fine.

What Terry didn't mention is the 3 days for $15 is a $15 a month recurring charge for membership in BandLab's Backstage Pass.
It is NOT a fee to solely "unlock" Sonar. There's more included, its basically the paid BandLab membership.

Well that's a difference.  There so much speculation but little info when it comes to licensing.  Everyone fears the sub model and I wonder how many subs it takes to justify them.   When Waves tried the sub only model which I'm sure was a kneejerk decision have they recovered from it? Not from me.   Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom was a bargain at 10$ a month but check the price now.  People eventually leave subs.

Nor do I but, Right now, that “activates” Sonar, small price to pay to get the “transition” going here for me.

If you want to start using Sonar right away, backstage pass (which includes both Sonar, Next as well as other bandlab perks) is the only available option right now. There are plans for other purchase options but there isn't a known timeline just yet.

Today you can get it monthly or get an annual BSP license upfront which is cheaper.

Sonar has not been released yet. The BandLab Membership includes Early Access to software. Sonar is out of internal beta and is now offered as public early access. When Sonar is released it will no longer be "early access" and no longer be a part of the BandLab Membership. So if you purchase an annual subscription to BandLab Membership for the sole reason of using Sonar, then don't be surprised when you no longer have access to Sonar if it gets released in under a year and you have to actually buy the program to use it again.

Just stating the obvious in case people don't like reading fine AND large print elsewhere and don't like figuring things out.

I would guess there will remain an early access to updates to Sonar and Next as part of the Back Stage Pass. I can't see them doing a bait and switch, and take away an obvious reason for purchasing the Back Stage Pass, an all-in-one package. It should continue to offer early access to the latest version of the software.

Perhaps Noel or someone can clarify.
